Eye color

I would prefer that aliens with completely black eyes to be the only ones inside the category. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 22:15, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

Why? It's not really a big deal. Black is an actual human eye colour, not exclusively an alien eye colour. I re-checked the values in CAS, and his eyes are indeed pitch black. If it really bothers you that much, why not make an eye colour category specifically for aliens, as I suggested on the talk page for the category? Mariaw (talk) 22:20, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

Would it not make more sense to create a new category for the Sims in TS3 who have dark eye colorations? Additionally, black is not an actual real-life human eye color. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 22:24, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

Yes it is. It's just extremely rare. And where his eyes are pitch black, it wouldn't make much sense for him to not be placed in the Black-eyed sims category. Mariaw (talk) 22:26, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

Eyes that look black in real life do not exist. They are just dark brown. However I'm not wanting to use a real life application here. I just believe it's more appropriate for Nate to be in the grey-eyed category because that is what his eye color range belongs to. Ѧüя◎ґ (talk) 22:30, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

I think it makes sense to view black as the end of the Wikipedia:Greyscale and therefore put Sims whose eye colour is black in the grey category. It seems like a good way to seperate these Sims from those with non-human eyes (without a white part) and helps to keep the category for black eyes meaningful. —Gvaudoin 💬 22:42, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

You bring up an interesting debate, since I saw your edit for all the Han family members to dark brown; their eyes are actually a very dark shade of yellow, but I wouldn't say that would be a fitting category (because lets face it, they're not yellow). Wouldn't (nearly) black eyes be more appropriate to go into a (dark) brown section instead of categorizing them by what color they're based on? Or in a very dark grey section. But shouldn't we be consistent about it then? either all of them dark grey or all of them dark brown? DeSims ^(talk) 22:59, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

Well, okay then. I am willing to end it here. I don't want to further argue (I honestly didn't want to in the first place). In that case, though, I think the Grey-eyed sims category should be renamed "Sims with a greyscale eye color" of "Greyscale-eyed sims". But it doesn't have to be. I don't really mind if it is or not, because it may be a bit of a hassle. I still think his eyes should be listed as black, but I won't change it back because I don't want to further edit war (I honestly didn't want to in the first place).

@Auror I looked up if black is a natural eye colour, and it appears that you are correct; truly black eyes are indeed nonexistant. But very dark brown eyes that are almost black seem to usually be considered black. Mariaw (talk) 23:08, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

If two people disagree, there is almost no doubt they're going to argue about it. I wasn't trying to be passive-aggressive, or declare myself right and Auror wrong, I was just too frustrated to be pleasant. Okay, so it doesn't seem this is entirely resolved yet :P

Not every Sim with very dark eyes necessarily has brown or grey eyes; most Sims in Sunset Valley who have very dark eyes that are nearly black have green-hued eyes. I think it should depend on the hue of the Sim's eye colour. Unless the Sim's eyes are yellow or orange hued; that should be considered brown (as brown is actually very dark orange, and very dark yellow looks brown). Mariaw (talk) 00:38, March 26, 2019 (UTC)
