Tara Kat is a pre-made Sim that appears in The Sims 2: Pets. She dreams of owning a pet shop. Tara is the daughter of Ginia Kat, (although she does not appear on Tara's family tree) who has died, and she believes that everyone should have a cat. She has three cats: Mickey, Samantha and Faline.

Her mother was originally in The Sims: Unleashed. Now her daughter is in The Sims 2: Pets. Right before the user starts playing the house, Tara adopts a kitten. Tara wonders if her older cats will accept it as a new part of the family.

Tara may be from Pleasantview because her mother lived there in The Sims but since she is in the lots and houses bin the player could put her anywhere. When she is first placed in a neighborhood, Tara is 29 days from being an elder.

It is speculated by many fans that Tara was actually adopted by Ginia, due to the fact that Tara was not included in The Sims: Unleashed. If The Sims 2 standards are retrofitted to The Sims, Ginia would be too old to become pregnant, but could have adopted Tara as a child. She could also be Ginia's niece or other distant relative, as her bio implies she is biologically related to the Kat family.

Tara uses the 2nd face template in Create a Sim except for the slightly customized nose and jaw. When she grows into an elder her face shape will not change, which is unusual given that most other Sims that use the 2nd face template will have slightly different facial features when they become elders (e.g. larger noses, more prominent under-necks, smaller mouths etc.). This is what the broken face templates (minus the customized nose and chin) will look like on Sims once they became elders.
