While a meditating Sim or a witch using Magivestigium may teleport anywhere on a lot (except inside a neighbor's [[apartment]]), a Sim who has learned the ninja teleport cannot teleport to an area he or she cannot get to on foot. For example, Sims cannot use the ninja teleport to get to a room behind an opposite-gender door, or one hidden behind a rotating bookcase from ''Apartment Life'', or one with no doors at all; nor can they use it to reach a balcony or window ledge with no door leading to it. This means that while it is the fastest method of teleportation in ''The Sims 2'', it is nothing more than a faster method of travel.

Teleportation is an instant movement from one place to another. Throughout The Sims series, there are various ways for Sims to teleport into locations. Teleportation is a special ability that only certain Sims can possess or learn, or as a means of an object. Sims normally cannot teleport as a free will, but instead controlled by the players. Sometimes Sims may end up in an unroutable spot, causing them to get stuck, and in order to get out of there, they have to be directed to teleport again.

The Sims

In The Sims, it is an ability magical Sims can gain from the purple Crystal Clear Ability Rocks in The Sims: Makin' Magic. Both children and adults can learn and use the ability, and it is available at any time with no preparation required. However, Sims who teleport may be fined if non-magical Sims see them do it, unless they are in Magic Town.

The Sims 2

In The Sims 2, Sims may teleport into a location by meditating. Meditation can be done by having 3 Logic skills or 8 playful personality points. It takes approximately 12 Sim hours of meditation for a Sim to gain enough skill to teleport. Once the ability is learned, the Sim will need to meditate for around one Sim hour, and after that, the Sim will levitate and is ready to teleport. By clicking on the ground, players can assist the Sim to "Teleport Here." Once the Sim finishes meditating, he/she has to meditate again in order to teleport again.

In The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, Sims can go to Takemizu Village and find a ninja there. Sims can learn the ability to teleport by answering a question given by the ninja. If the Sims can answer the question correctly, they will learn the ability, and it will give the Sims a memory about it as well as a vacation memento. Ninja teleport ability, however, has a small drawback. Sims cannot teleport into an enclosed area with no access, such as enclosed fences, a room without a door, a room with opposite-gender door, or a room connected with the secret bookcase door from Apartment Life.

Witches in The Sims 2: Apartment Life have the ability to teleport after they reach level 3 of Magic skill. The teleportation spell is called Magivestigium. Magivestigium is a neutral spell, and witches can cast it regardless of alignment. It will, however, shift the witches' alignment towards neutral slightly. It costs no magic reagents. Unlike ninja teleportation, Magivestigium can reach inaccessible areas, making it a more effective ability.

None of the abilities to teleport enable Sims to enter other Sims' dormitory room, suite in hotel, apartment slots, however. Sims still need to knock the door to gain entry to those areas.

The Sims 3

In The Sims 3, Sims can teleport to a lot with Teleportation Pad. It costs 75,000 lifetime happiness points, and can be refunded for §15,000. Occasionally, the Teleportation Pad may malfunction and teleport Sims into different location instead. There's a premium content from the store that enables Sims to teleport as well, called The Not So Routine Machine. It's more enhanced than Teleportation Pad, and it's buyable from the Buy mode for §15,000.

In The Sims 3: World Adventures, Sims can meditate by having 5 Martial Arts skill points. Sims must meditate long enough and accumulate meditative focus until it lasts for 4 hours. After that, Sims will levitate and glow, and players can click the ground to "Zeneport" Sims. After Sims zeneport, they will stop meditating and has to meditate again in order to zeneport again. There are several areas in an adventure where Sims are required to zeneport, such as the Copper Quarry tomb in Al Simhara.

Other than teleporting to a location, there are several ways too for Sims to instantly return home. This is rather useful when they shouldn't waste much time or just want to escape from tombs, for example.

  • If the Teleportation Pad is placed at home, Sims can use their cell phones to return home.
  • Sims can purchase Escape Dust from the special merchants for 75 ancient coins.
  • Sims can make Ninja Vanish potion with 9 Logic skill points.[TS3:G]

Trivia

  • With testingcheatsenabled true in The Sims 3, players can shift+click on the ground to instantly teleport Sims to that precise spot.
