The Sims Wiki:Newsletter/15 June 2011
a lot. The Sims fans have been absolutely bombarded. Over the last few months, a ton of things have happened. The Sims 3: Generations and The Sims 3: Unleashed trailers were leaked nearly simultaneously. Both sparked the internet going viral with debate as to whether the trailers were legitimate or not. Generations was confirmed a while later by EA - An expansion pack focused on life stages and living them to the fullest. Soon after (and before) Generations' release, fans questioned whether the The Sims 3: Unleashed trailer was more then just a good use of mods. Early June The Sims 3 team finally announces the game to be real under the title of The Sims 3: Pets - along with the release of an official announcement trailer. Cats and dogs make a return, and horses make a cameo. Traits for pets, like Playful, Aggressive and patient will also play a large role in how your pets behave. The game is set to hit stores in October of this year for Windows, Mac OS/X, and as a stand-alone game for Xbox 360, N3DS and PlayStation 3. At E3 EA announced a revival of The Sims Online. The Sims Social will be an online flash version of The Sims for Facebook. For free, players will be able to interact with their friends in an all new way. The description states The Sims Social brings the fun and creativity of The Sims to Facebook! Create unique Sims and live out their dreams—or stir up trouble by pulling pranks. Develop deep relationships to unlock new features and advance: befriend and fight, date and cheat, love and betray. Play with life in a whole new way—with your real friends, for free. We certainly have a lot of new content and hard work coming our way! Administrator ProjectsThis month on the Wiki, it has been decided to introduce a new system for administrators, the Admin projects. It was decided that this system would be implemented to merge the Fanon Admin and Admin class, as well as attempt to increase interest in Administrative positions. All current administrative staff are required to pick two administrative projects from a list of five. The tasks include:
All administrators are required to pick two before the end of June. If you have not done so, please don't forget! The implementation is also going to possibly phase out special positions, due to the difficulty of getting applicants. All new administrators are required to place which tasks they wish to join in their request.
Monthly Highlights
From The EditorThis newsletter doesn't write itself! Anyone who is willing to contribute ideas or articles should do so; you will be given credit for your contributions, and they stand a good chance of being included on the next Newsletter. We also need column writers; who write one thing about a certain topic once each month. We have an opening for a column called The Mod and More, which deals with mods and fan created objects, and we ask any modders to contact BobNewbie for more information. Along with a new column writer, we would like to include one or two more members of the community to write for us, making us a 4-5 member journalism team. This team will communicate via e-mail and IRC to bring the community the best possible newsletter each month. The Sims Wiki Newsletter would also like to remind you of how fun it actually is to write for The Newsletter. We plan on growing and adding a whole ton of new things, from new game reviews by regular users, to in-depth articles concerning Wikia's changes and how they effect users. For now, growth is extremely limited, and we ask for as many possible users to apply to join.If there's something you think we missed, tell us about it and we'll do our best to include it. - Happy Simming and editing!
