Player's page[edit source]

Hi, I'm sorry I had to delete the page you created Players Sims (writes your sims biography!) because I'm unsure if this a game your trying to start or a fanon. If your starting a little game then try posting it on the forum like this forum Forum:The person below you game, or place it in the fanon namespace, thank you. Starmoonie(Talk Here) 01:06, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

OK, I did not delete that, but I agree with it being deleted. We have the Fanon namespace and the Create a Sim/Player stories for users who want to write about Sims they have made. Dharden (talk) 03:06, June 18, 2012 (UTC)

Awesome Sims Pets Guide (PS3)[edit source]

Guides like those should not be in the canon namespace: it is more suitable for a blog post, or an page under the User namespace. MILK FOR THE UNYUUFEX, FLAT CHEST FOR THE CUTENESS THRONE, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL PROBES (user talk:Mathetesalexandrou) 00:26, June 19, 2012 (UTC)

Your Files[edit source]

Please refrain from uploading a duplicate file. Try using an existing file instead, like this one instead. Also, like Mathetesalexandrou said, I've moved your guide under Tutorial namespace. Let me remind you that your guide has a really low quality, and you really mustn't attach "from The Sims Wiki" at the end of each paragraph. Nikel Talk Vote for Featured Media! 02:35, June 19, 2012 (UTC)

So is it okay if I just delete it? Okay then, if you say so. Please don't take it bad. Nikel Talk Vote for Featured Media! 13:01, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Gavin Pinkerton[edit source]

Hi, I don't know what you were trying to do that page but it was already correct please don't add the cleanup template unless it really needs it because the page was already decent thank you. Starmoonie(Talk Here) 21:53, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

It takes some time to be an admin but it's just a couple of buttons extra you get to help the wiki. It's okay that your trying to help but when you really do see a page that is alright the way it then don't mess with it, but if it is vandalized then undo the edits, or tell an admin. Becoming an admin takes some time and dedication, I think I became one over a couple of months but that took some dedication. Just glad you understand and your heart is in the right place, just remember that in the future and you can be an admin some day. :) Starmoonie(Talk Here) 22:04, June 29, 2012 (UTC)
Okay I removed the template because it actually does reach the standards but it does need some editing with grammar but if a random user comes by and helps out or you take your time to fix the grammar errors than it's fine. Also remember when you add a template for your fanon sim or any other Sim to add Sim3 or Sim2 or any other because you're not suppose to really use the example templates okay? Starmoonie(Talk Here) 20:23, June 30, 2012 (UTC)
Because some are outdated and should not be used, just use the code at bottom of the page, it is more updated and accepted. Starmoonie(Talk Here) 02:49, July 1, 2012 (UTC)

Tags[edit source]

Please leave adding and removing tags to the admins. Instead why don't you expanding stubs and try the edit other cleanup pages. Thank you.

Freedom50000 15:47, July 2, 2012 (UTC)

Eva Gilman[edit source]

Hey, please do not put that information you placed on the page again because that is usually for fanon Sims, thank you. Starmoonie(Talk Here) 01:05, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

I understand that but Eva doesn't not reappear in other games so the ==Childhood years== and ==Teen years==, etc. does not belong there if it is a canon Sim. Starmoonie(Talk Here) 01:15, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Fanon Deletion[edit source]

I've deleted your fanon like you requested. :) Star-Talk 01:55, August 18, 2012 (UTC)

Create a Sim Player Stories[edit source]

All Player Stories pages were deleted on August 24, in accord with a community discussion. Therefore, the re-created page has been deleted. I admit that we overlooked removing the "Player Stories" link from the main Create a Sim page; that has been corrected. Dharden (talk) 20:05, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Fanon:Bella And Mortimer ‎[edit source]

I'm not sure, but I think it could be related to the way you tried to enter categories. For one thing, you should not have used Templates requesting comments, as that category is for requesting comments on templates, not for requesting comments on fanon. I'll remove the categories and see what happens. Dharden (talk) 18:38, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

That did it. I believe one of the categories you wanted was Dharden (talk) 18:42, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Unborn baby MacDuff[edit source]

Um... thanks? You could've helped improve the page instead, you know. :) Nikel Talk Vote! 10:19, September 30, 2012 (UTC)

Placeholder fanon[edit source]

Hi, Fanboy. Just to let you know, it'll be nice if you don't make a placeholder fanon like Fanon:Cassandra Dantel, Fanon:Mary Pork, and Fanon:The Life Of A Vampire. If you want to create a fanon, finish it, or at least, put up the content so it's worth reading. If you don't add enough content there, it'll be deleted soon. If you're not ready to make them, then don't. Oh, and also, reminder for Fanon:A Bridgeport Story too. Nikel Talk Vote! 04:20, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

Sure, I understand. It's just that you might some time forget those fanons and eventually they're left abandoned. I'll give some timeout for those placeholder fanons (a week perhaps); if they don't have enough content by then, I'll delete them. But don't worry. If you feel like remaking them, just make them again! But be sure to not leave them blank in the future, okay? :) Nikel Talk Vote! 07:15, November 15, 2012 (UTC)
When creating a table, you're advised to use source mode instead of visual mode editor as seen on the top tab when you're editing a page. For example, in the visual editor or the article, this
Image Memory Type
Potty Trained by Diane Pleasant Positive
Taught to Walk from Jeff Pleasant Positive
Taught to Talk from Jeff Pleasant Positive
Will appear like this in source editor:

Image
Memory
Type

Potty Trained by Diane Pleasant
Positive

Taught to Walk from Jeff Pleasant
Positive

Taught to Talk from Jeff Pleasant
Positive
With this, you may be able to learn about using the source mode a bit. {| is used as to begin a table, while |} ends it. ! is used as a table header (the grey one on the first row), and additional exclamation marks means additional column. The |- is used to start a new row, and each column begins with a pipeline ( | ). If you have 3 columns from the exclamation marks, then each row must have 3 pipelines, or else your table will be messed up.
The class="wikitable heading-blue" is the type of the table; the table has white background and grey header. You can see other example of table class like in career tables, though this one is normally used for memories. Of course you still can use visual editor to create tables; just simply copy an example and edit it. You are however suggested to get used to editing with source editor. Hope you can understand my explanation! Nikel Talk Vote! 09:02, November 16, 2012 (UTC)
Um, Fanboy... Remember the last thing we talked about placeholder fanon? One more placeholder and I'll delete them. Please don't leave them blank or sparse (infoboxes don't count)! Nikel Talk Vote! 10:02, November 16, 2012 (UTC)
No big deal, there. Glad I can help. Sure you can do that too with relationship table. Just change header titles "Memory" to "Name" and "Type" to "Relationship level," as well as the corresponding columns! If you need help with that, you can ask me. Not tonight though, it's pretty late now. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:47, November 16, 2012 (UTC)
That would be a little more advanced to make. It's a template. In source mode, it's the one with braces, e.g. Goth Family, while in visual mode, it's the green puzzle piece. You can append the same content of a template into multiple pages, though I assume you already know this. If you want to see the code on how to make that, go to the template page (or click the link) and see the source code. I can help make one for you if you want to. Nikel Talk Vote! 03:05, November 18, 2012 (UTC)
Oh well... Basically, you can make templates just like making a new page or fanon, but with in Template: namespace. So if your template is named like this Template:PageName, to use it, simply append PageName to your page. You can freely customize the template, but be wary though as what you edit in template will change where you use it as well.
To be honest, I'm not sure how to explain about how to make such template. You need to understand the editing codes to know how to do it. Perhaps you can copy its code, place it in your sandbox, and then experiment to see how it works? Nikel Talk Vote! 14:02, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Time's up, Fanboy. You haven't made a single improvement to those placeholder fanons. You can ask me again if you want me to restore them for you, but only if you wish to complete them, not leaving them blank. Nikel Talk Vote! 13:52, December 4, 2012 (UTC)

Help Around[edit source]

If you have TS3:Seasons then we really need some information on that. But if not you can look around anywhere on the wiki for any problems with spelling/grammar/run on sentences or anything if possible! :)

Happy Simming to you too! Star-Talk 18:33, November 16, 2012 (UTC)

Fan fiction[edit source]

I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can give good tips on writing good fan fiction. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. Dharden (talk) 03:24, January 14, 2013 (UTC)

Oh okay. I just need to know one more thing why are all the good admins absent? (no offence)

RE:Tips[edit source]

Sure! Just one thing, are you interested in something particular or you'd like some general tips? Life just wouldn't be the same without the Sims! Talk 07:30, January 14, 2013 (UTC)

I would like some tips on how to make a story interesting something people would like to read
Happy Simming!
Fanboy123~
From my experience with writing my Time Paradox and its substories,
My modus operandi is that I play the game, and derive my storyline from the happenings in the game in most of the cases, while adding some pre-determined storyline (such as construction of new worlds and improvements) and re-enacting them in-game.
As to make the story interesting, I'd say come up with something conspicuous: I'd think my Kallisto is a splendidly attention-grabbing sim: IMO Kallisto wasn't too conspicuous as Kallisto was not too deviant from the typical nerdy type (her actions buffed by Hypatia's rather unique take), but then came romance (back in the days I still used EA story progression that made romances and enemies where I didn't want) and popped the idea to put the anti-romance religion and all the sudden Kallisto turned into something conspicuous. MILK FOR THE UNYUUFEX, FLAT CHEST FOR THE CUTENESS THRONE, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL PROBES (user talk:Mathetesalexandrou) 18:39, January 14, 2013 (UTC)
Okay thanks that really helped but one more thing how do i take in-game pictures in the sims 2? i cant seem to figure that out.
Happy Simming!
Fanboy123~
I'm not sure do you still need my help with the first question, so I'm gonna help you with the second one. You take in-game pics by clicking C. I'd also suggest you to set the snapshot size to large and snapshot picture quality to high in your game options. Life just wouldn't be the same without the Sims! Talk
Okay. i took the picture but it only said that i can add it to the story thing i want it in my picture folder. And no i do not need your help with the first question anymore.
Happy Simming!
Fanboy123~
I'm not quite sure what are you trying to say. Can you explain it to me a little bit better, more detailed? Life just wouldn't be the same without the Sims! Talk 09:49, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
Nevermind. i found it out

Photo detail thing?[edit source]

If you're talking about licensing info, that's added as a template to the page that's associated with the image. You can edit those pages, just like any other page, and take out the ones you don't want. Dharden (talk) 16:52, January 16, 2013 (UTC)

and how do i do that?

Just click on the Edit button, same as with any other page. Go to Image:3 SIMS.jpg and view the latest diff to see what I'm talking about. Dharden (talk) 16:55, January 16, 2013 (UTC)

the link brings me to the license page and it keeps saying this file is not licensed

I don't know why it always says that even when the file is licensed, but since it does, just ignore it. Go by whether there's a copyright message on the page; if there is, it's licensed. The template I'm talking about is something like this: fanon . The "fanon" part categorizes it as a fanon image, and "Copyright by EA" causes the EA copyright message to display. If you remove that template, you will un-license the image. Dharden (talk) 17:13, January 16, 2013 (UTC)
THANK YOU SO MUCH NOW I KNOW THANK YOU!!!!!

Placeholder[edit source]

I'll just give you one last reminder about this placeholder fanon. If you're not going to write something right after you create it, then don't create it. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:40, January 18, 2013 (UTC)

Hey! You been absent for a pretty long time but you can remove Jake Dantel i'll make him some other time.

Happy Simming

Fanboy123~

Regarding the cleanup tags[edit source]

Greetings,

I currently am quite sad to hear that you have a bit of trouble with WH regarding your fan fiction. I have said this in the WH's talk page, but there are a few suggestions I'd like to make.

  1. Your picture format is a bit messy: I suggest for one removing the spaces between the pictures and the text, so the picture goes alongside the text. Secondly, I recommend using the thumb format, which also allows you to add a caption (and from what I've seen, a necessary step for the above suggestion) which can significantly help you.

This code brings up this, so keep this in mind. WH had specifically stated that it looks sloppy, so please take this advice. It'd help you.
Use this code to help add captions
  2. Your part 1 of the story is quite short, and has a few issues: You do not have a chapter 2, and given that it's around 4000 bytes, each chapter is like 1000 bytes long. Although this isn't to say that long wordiness is necessarily the best option (quantity != quality, although quantity generally is good), but it seems your chapters on the part 1 seems a bit too short to be compelling. Please flesh that out a bit, as I've skimmed over chapter 2, which was a bit better.
  3. DO NOT REMOVE THE TAG. He has already warned you about this, and trying to revert it won't make it better for either.
  4. Quotes and other conventions: WH seems to have a bit of issues with you not making paragraphs. From what I've read, most of your things are in quotes, so it's difficult to make paragraphs and this I understand (given my dialogue-run formats in both my Council of Bridgeport and New Homeland). However, fleshing it out with some explanatory paragraphs will do you much good. I would also recommend you taking a good look at A Pleasant Story, as its format seems to be close to what you're trying to do.

Hope these help ye get rid of the tag. MILK FOR THE UNYUUFEX, FLAT CHEST FOR THE CUTENESS THRONE, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL PROBES (user talk:Mathetesalexandrou) 03:17, January 19, 2013 (UTC)

Hello,

i took the tips and they were very helpful but i gotta admit i'm still pretty young and i'm not an expert at paragraphs and i don't have a very strong English and i'm not the kind of person who uses words off of the dictionary. and i don't know how Ash could make A Pleasant Story so detailed. I mean i do stories for the enjoyment of other people not to make it perfect for the admins. And i'm still learning how to use the Comma's but bit by bit i'm learning and getting smarter because story writing is my dream and my passion. I hope you understand that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fanboy123 (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

SkylarElectrikk[edit source]

Hi, Fanboy. Can I ask you a thing? Why did you add userboxes to SkylarElectrikk? Nikel Talk Vote! 17:52, January 31, 2013 (UTC)

She said she wanted me to make it for her.

Oh, okay. :) Nikel Talk Vote! 03:46, February 1, 2013 (UTC)

Your request for adminship[edit source]

We appreciate your interest, but admins must first have rollback rights. Please feel free to request rollback. Dharden (talk) 02:49, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

I'd say to wait a couple months at least. Oh, here's a tip for signatures: In your preferences, go to Signatures and check the box that says you want to use wikitext. That'll let you do something like Fanboy123 (talk) . That way, your sig will have a link to your talk page; makes it easier to reply. Dharden (talk) 21:52, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

You mean like this?

Fanboy123 (talk)

Request for Administratorship[edit source]

Your request for administratorship has been declined at this time, due to failure to meet minimum requirements. Specifically, you are not a rollback user - having rollback is a prerequisite for applying for an administrative position. Additionally, your application contained a formatting error, and further investigation into your wiki editing history shows multiple other issues which collectively indicate that you are still not comprehensively familiar with wiki editing, another requirement for administratorship.

Please consider these points before re-applying. If you have any questions or concerns about this or anything else, please contact me. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 02:56, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Video gallery[edit source]

If you notice, all pages that use <videogallery> tag to show the videos (like the one you fixed in University) seem to be broken. I mean the tag itself is broken. All EPs that use them now won't show videos, and the code is left behind. I don't know since when, but I think it's a bug from wikia. If I were you, I'd leave them that way for a couple of days, because perhaps it would be fixed eventually? Nikel Talk Vote! 18:00, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Fine with me Nikel. But if it's not fixed in a couple of days will it be okay if I fix it?

Happy Simming!

--Fanboy123 18:05, February 3, 2013 (UTC)

Sure thing, I guess. Just... not now, okay? :) Nikel Talk Vote! 15:59, February 4, 2013 (UTC)

Okay. If its not fixed by February 7th i will fix it okay?

--Fanboy123 16:33, February 4, 2013 (UTC)

Eh, I doubt if it will be fixed that soon. In the meantime, I'll ask one of the wikia staff if they will resolve the issue. Nikel Talk Vote! 18:06, February 4, 2013 (UTC)
I've been told that the temporary workaround is to replace the videogallery tag with the <gallery> tag, as it will work fine. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:44, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, okay then.

--Fanboy123 17:22, February 5, 2013 (UTC)

Nominate[edit source]

Hello,

I nominated you for Featured Editor because i think you deserved it. I know i am new but next month im gonna nominate you for Roll back rights. --Thesupahero123 (talk) 19:59, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

Your nomination on Featured Media[edit source]

I wanted to advise you to be careful when you add nominations to the Featured Media voting page, as the nomination you added accidentally deleted another nomination that had been made. I've fixed the problem, but in the future you can use the Preview button to review your changes before you've made them, to ensure you don't delete something that was already there. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:12, February 22, 2013 (UTC)

Additionally, note that the photo you uploaded then nominated - File:Simcity 1989.jpg - was not posted with the proper license. I've fixed the problem this time, but be aware that failure to include adequate license information is a violation of wiki policy. For more information on that, please see the Image and file policy, or contact me or another administrator. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:16, February 22, 2013 (UTC)

RE: Signature help[edit source]

Hey Fanboy! For your signature, I'm not really that good at making them (mine is very basic, as you will soon see), so maybe you could ask DevlyHallows by commenting on his blog post!

To create an archive, I'm not really sure. I've never had to make one before, but you have to create a page called User talk:Fanboy123/Archive 1 and add all your current messages onto it. You also have to add the Archive template to the top of the page. On your main talk page, you can add 1 to the top of your page. As I said before, I'm not completely sure on this, so if I haven't explained it right you could talk to an admin or someone that has archived their talk page before! ~ Waikikamukow (Anyone wanna chat?) 05:30, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't around when you left your message, but I hope Waikikamukow's explanation is already clear to you. :) If you need any more help, ask me again please. Also, thanks for helping out, Waikikamukow! Nikel Talk Vote! 10:54, February 26, 2013 (UTC)
