Vanity
Vanity tables are objects in The Sims 2: University, The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 2: Teen Style Stuff, The Sims 3: Showtime and The Sims 4: Vintage Glamour Stuff. They are used primarily for changing the appearances of Sims.
The Sims 2
Sims can give makeovers to others using vanity tables, in addition to changing their own looks. It works similarly to the makeover station from Open for Business, but Sims do not level up in the Cosmetology talent badge while using it. Even though vanity tables have attached mirrors, none of the typical interactions of a mirror (except "Change Appearance") are present.

The Sims 4: Vintage Glamour Stuff
Vanity tables are one of the main features of Vintage Glamour Stuff. In addition to some (but not all) mirror interactions, they also allow Sims to put on temporary makeup that washes off when they bathe or shower. They require a dining chair or desk chair to be able to be used.
