Vegetarian is a lifestyle trait available in The Sims 3; it is available from Childhood.

Vegetarian Sims never choose to eat meat, and doing so causes them to quickly become ill.

Attributes

  • Vegetarian Sims will learn vegetarian alternatives to common meat dishes when practicing the Cooking skill.
  • Vegetarian Sims live longer than other Sims.
  • Vegetarian Sims who eat meat will gain the negative "Nauseous" moodlet.
  • Sim can "Complain about Meat".

Player notes

  • Pizza ordered through a telephone contains meat-product.
  • Every sim that shares a lot with a Vegetarian sim knows how to prepare Vegetarian cuisine.
  • Vegetarian Vampires in The Sims 3: Late Night will only eat plasma fruit. [1]
  • Even though meat, including fish, is clearly out of the question, a vegetarian Sim won't have problems eating foods such as eggs and cheese. This means that sims that have this trait are classified as Ovo-lacto Vegetarians

Alternatives

Originally, only Hot Dog, Spaghetti, and Hamburger that have alternative food for vegetarians. Showtime introduces new alternatives for vegetarians from existing food.

Original dishes Vegetarian alternatives
Cheesesteak Cheese Tofu Steak
Dim Sum Vegetarian Dim Sum
Fish and Chips Vegetarian Fish and Chips
Grilled Salmon Vegetarian Grilled Salmon
Hamburger Veggie Burger
Hot Dog Tofu Dog
Lobster Thermidor Vegetarian Lobster Thermidor
Spaghetti Spaghetti with Veggie Sauce
Sushi Veggie Rolls
Tri Tip Steak Tri Tip Tofu Steak

Note that Sims craving a certain food will not be satisfied eating the vegetarian alternative, nor vegetarians with meat (In fact, it will make them sick). For example, Spaghetti with Veggie Sauce will not satisfy a meat-eating Sim craving for Spaghetti.
