Walking

Walking is the normal way for Sims to get around. However, in The Sims 2 player Sims cannot normally walk from one lot to another. Instead, they had to get a taxi.

The Sims 2: Nightlife, lets sims use a private car. Several NPC Sims (including townies) can however walk into and from the lot.

The Sims 2: Bon Voyage introduced the ability to walk between lots. The Sims 2: Apartment Life allows schoolchildren to walk to school and older Sims to walk to work.

The Sims 3 had this ability from the base game. Sims can also choose between walking, running or jogging.

townies have the abillity to walk onto a sims lot, but it is impossible to walk, take a taxi, or drive to a residential lot.
