What happened to the Altos?

The Alto Family first appeared in the "The Heist" trailer when the parents were arguing with each other because Mr. Alto let his sloppy side show. They have a business feud with the Landgraab Family. Their last name is a pun on the television show, The Sopranos.

It has been revealed that they are the 'bad guys' in town. The residents of Sunset Valley will have to pick the side of either the Altos with their uptown ideals or the Goth Family's more traditional views. The Altos aren't as involved in a conflict with the Goths, however, as they are with the Landgraabs. Even though they almost run the town, it is unknown why they don't seem to be in any other game (see their family theories for more info).

The family is described as "Nouveau Riche and Evil," and they fit the description perfectly. Both parents have either mean-spirited or evil as a trait, and it is clear that they have made enemies in town, particularly with the Landgraab Family. According to the family bio, the Altos are ruthless, unafraid to plot the misfortune of those who stand in their way.

They are also clearly new money, as even though their house is lavish and luxurious, it is far tackier than the Landgraab mansion- it is a white and pink house with a rose garden out front that features many objects that appear to made out of solid gold (such as a staircase and bathtub). Holly is the only family member to break away from these trends, as she is neither cruel nor tacky.

Apparently the grave of a woman named "Vita Alto" exists in The Sims 2, but it is difficult to locate- her remains are strangely reported to be in an urn in a secret basement under one of Pleasantview's premade houses. If the player uses cheats to resurrect Vita, she is shown to have one daughter named Holly, who has a father named Nicholas Alto-Hick. This Nicholas is shown to be living, but neither he nor any gravesite has been located. [confirmation needed]

Whether or not this is the same Alto family is speculative, but if so, then it means that the Alto family existed before the start of The Sims 3. What may have happened to them remains unknown. [confirmation needed]
