Not to be confused with Fame.

Celebrity Status is a feature in The Sims 3: Late Night. It is reminiscent of Fame in The Sims: Superstar.

A Sim's celebrity status is displayed by 1 to 5 stars. Sims must perform certain tasks and brag about themselves in order to gain a higher celebrity status.[1] The neighborhood already has celebrities and one way to launch sims way into stardom is to befriend other celebrities. Celebrity NPC's are distinguished by having a gold star over their heads.[1]

Sims don't need to be in the Film career to become famous. Any Sim can become a celebrity.[2]

If a paparazzo catches a Sim fighting another,[2] skinny dipping in a pool or dancing on the bar they may be fired from their job or get the "Walk of Shame" moodlet.[3] Sims can, however, drag the paparazzo to court. Celebrities can also try to attempt to escape from paparazzi.[2] In addition, doing a variety of tasks (including peeing themselves, passing out, and detonating/smashing objects) in public or private will cause the "Publicly Disgraced" moodlet and the inability to receive bonuses for 3 days. In addition, if a sim is recognized as a celebrity within that time, the moodlet will be negative.

When Sims get really famous they may receive free stuff from fans and businesses, such as free groceries,[2] free drinks,[1] free books at the bookstore,[3] free treatments at the spa[3] and access to exclusive bars and clubs where other celebrities hang out.[1] Sims may also receive simoleons for showing up at parties and having their picture taken.[4]

If a consignment store register recognises a Sim as a celebrity they may get a discount and The Recognised as a Celebrity moodlet.

Celebrity stars do not decay or can not be lost. If a Sim gains a star, they will be a celebrity forever, even after death.

There is a glitch in the game causing all Sims from Barnacle Bay to have celebrity status. However, this is not serious.

Ways to gain celebrity status

  • Building a network (of friends)[2]
  • Brag about fame[2]
  • Brag about skills[2]
  • Offering drinks to other celebrities[2]
  • Do assignments / complete opportunities[2]
  • Perform gigs in a band[1]
  • Have good relationships (become friends) with existing celebrities.[1]
  • Kissing other celebrities (1 kiss = 1 star).
  • Telling gossip and take compromising photos
  • Becoming the boyfriend/girlfriend = 1 star.
  • Getting married to a celebrity = 3 stars

If a celebrity sim has a child, the child may inherit the celebrity status when he or she grows up. Sims at the top of their career will gain celebrity status faster.[2]

Celebrities can be impressed by
  • Wealth
  • High skill levels
  • Being friends with other celebrities.
Tip
Before trying to impress a celebrity, make sure there is something to brag about. Celebrities can be pretty cold to sims they don't know.
