Her name is a possible reference to the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, and his poem 'To Constantia, Singing', which is commonly interpreted to be about Claire Clairmont - the unmarried sister of his wife Mary. Mary Shelley was also, like Constance, a writer, known for her novel Frankenstein.
