Cecile has two half-sisters from her father's side. Jared married Madison VanWatson en they got two daughters; Ciara Frio and Adriënna Frio. The contact with both her father and sisters were minimum as her mother Claire resented him and rather stayed alone. Even though Cecile often felt unwanted by her mother, she never tried to get in touch with her father or half-sisters.
Although being basically neighbors, she only reconciled with (or better to say got to know) her sister Ciara after the death of her mother. She had learned that Adriënna had married into the Steinhaus family and her parents had moved away to another part of town. During this same time, she married Abraham who was quite a bit older than she was. Although the age difference was noticeable, Cecile felt a certain kind of love for Abraham she for sure knew she never felt before. Rather quickly they got a son; Josef, the second person in Cecile's life that redefined love for her.
For a while they lived a happy life the three of them, but everything changed for them when Josef disappeared. While Cecile never knew love before her husband and her son, she also didn't know how it feels to lose it. It still is not very clear how it could have happened that Josef disappeared, but he never returned. Things couldn't have been worse for Cecile when she lost her other big love. Abraham died of old age, probably send to the grave a bit earlier because of the loss of his son.
Cecile tried to look for comfort in darker places of Sunset Valley, and quickly discovered the underground scene of vampires. They promised her a long life, full of moderate feelings. It appealed to her as this was much like her life before her husband and son, and she would do anything to just stop the pain from existing in her heart. She was turned and indeed, the pain disappeared.
