During his young years, Hugo couldn't care less about what his mother wanted him to do. That's why he isn't going to marry Susan just because she is rich, instead he may have to marry her because of the baby, born from an accident. He never had a close relationship with his parents, so he doesn't contact them often.
Hugo was a 10 average student in the first semester, and he got a 11 grade on the final exam. However, he isn't passionate about Philosophy, his major. He prefers to work out and tinker. With the baby, his studies were sacrifised even more (he didn't study a lot already) in order to satisfy his needs and the baby's, while Susan put effort into the exam, in which she got a 20 again. Hugo started missing classes and skipping homework; he went through the final exam and got a 9 and 8,9 final average and is now on academic probation.
