I remember this being as simple as deleting all characters in a new town.. Then more will be spawned on their own. Just don't make anyone before you do use this cheat.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.20.7.103 (talkcontribs) (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

There isn't any easy way to delete any Sim other than this method without corrupting your neighborhood. Using the deleteallcharacters cheat, deleting Sims from Sim bin, or deleting their files from the folder will only ruin your neighborhood. Nikel Talk Vote! 19:44, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Disabling stealth hoods[edit source]

Is it true that renaming the neighborhood templates to "-bak" will prevent the stealth hood from being loaded? It doesn't seem to work in my game. Nikel Talk Vote! 12:31, January 26, 2014 (UTC)

Are you sure you disabled the correct folders? K6ka (talk | contribs) 12:58, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
Apparently Sims do spawn even when the stealth hoods are disabled. K6ka (talk | contribs) 13:01, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I'm certain I was doing it in the correct directory. I named the "E002" folder to "E002-bak", but just that, nothing else. Did I miss anything? Nikel Talk Vote! 17:09, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure about Charity's post at that thread. Surely NPCs (hobby instructors & head witches) will still generate even if the stealth hood is disabled, because they're not tied to the subhoods. They're generated because something is triggered in the current lot (reaching level 5 of hobby enthusiasm), not because the stealth subhood exists or not. The point of disabling the subhood is to prevent the default premade Sims to be included in the main hood.
Or maybe my interpretation is wrong. I'd like to join up the discussion, but it seems that I'm 4 pages late. Nikel Talk Vote! 17:09, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
You know what, I'm quite confused about all these technical stuff. I just wanna know why disabling the folders didn't work to me. Is there any other specific ways to disable those folders? Nikel Talk Vote! 17:14, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
This post describes how to disable your stealth hood folders. Check to see if you missed a step. I think you need to rename the folder "NeighborhoodTemplate" to "NeighborhoodTemplate-bak". If that still doesn't work, the AnyGameStarter should give you the option to create neighborhoods without any stealth hoods (due to a quirk, it won't prevent the FreeTime stealth hood from generating, so you'll need to disable that anyways). I'm... stumped. Renaming the "NeighborhoodTemplate" folder isn't going to change anything because that folder only contains one other folder - the stealth hood itself. Are you creating a new custom neighborhood to test the stealth hoods thingy out? Because if you use a previously played neighborhood, the game won't install those stealth hoods. You need to install those hoods in the Program Files location first before the game will treat the hood as a new one, and install the stealth hoods. Link, which I see you've already read :) K6ka (talk | contribs) 23:00, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
Well, I'm starting a new Veronaville, copied from the UserData folder if that makes any difference. I'll try renaming any other folders with "-bak" when I have time to test it again. It's strange that we could disable Pleasantview default townies and NPCs templates by adding "~bak" in "N001". :/ Nikel Talk Vote! 08:59, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Only Pleasantview Townies and NPCs[edit source]

Ok. I found this tutorial and thought it was pretty cool, but I only want to prevent the Pleasantview townies and NPCs to not be in my hood, for dormies, Social groups, garden club members etc.. No. I only want to remove Goopy and his Pleasantview Townie/NPC gang and replace them with on my own. I don't care bout the stealth hood templates, only the pleasantview townies and NPCs. Does it only require antiredundancy and notownieregen mods and can only simply work by renaming the Pleasantview hood in the game folders to N001-bak? Can anybody explain? Thanks. If you want to disable Pleasantview townies from being generated in custom neighborhoods, you only need to disable the N001 neighborhood template by renaming the folder. You don't need to disable the rest neighborhood templates if you don't mind about the garden club members, strays, etc.. Now, it's up to you if you want to use those mods or not. These mods prevent unnecessary Sim generation; i.e. antiredundancy for NPCs, notownieregen for townies, nossrespawn for secret society members, etc.. Nikel Talk Vote! 00:38, September 17, 2015 (UTC)
It's kinda weird because when I created my custom neighbourhood Washdowncreek, Kaylynn Langerak, Marisa Bendett, Brandi Letourneau, and Goopy Gilscarbo weren't generated. The only explanation was that I'd made them in playable Sims, but all the others were still Townies and NPCs. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:44, September 17, 2015 (UTC)
