Gretchen's career is randomized at the start of the game, and she is mainly interested in Food. She is often known to pick fights with other Sims, due to her lack of nice points.

Gretchen's name is randomized when Downtown is generated. The name "Gretchen Walton" is only referenced in the game files. Like most downtownies in The Sims 2, she has a customized facial structure. Gretchen uses a customized version of the 15th Maxis face template in Create a Sim, except the jaw uses the 1st face template.
