The Sims 2: FreeTime[edit | edit source]

Movie

The interaction on a television to start watching a movie

In The Sims 2: FreeTime Movies run for around 30 or 40 minutes of game time, and build fun much quicker than ordinary television channels do. Watching movies also builds enthusiasm for the Film and Literature hobby.

There are 5 different types of movies with different themes introduced with the pack. Spooky, which shows clips with Supernatural themes, along with some being displayed in Black & White, Action with chaotic films, Comedy which generally displayed light-hearted clips, Drama which contains stories of love, and finally Children which are fun children clips with generally no specific storyline.

List of movies[edit | edit source]

Spooky

  • Werewolf: Two lovers are attacked by werewolves on a camping trip. Only the man is bitten, and the woman escapes by distracting him with a stick. The same clip was used in a trailer for The Sims 2: Pets.
  • Cat Lady: The film is shown in black and white, giving it a spooky vibe. An old woman is reading a newspaper in a park, not aware that she is being stalked by hundreds of feral cats that gather around her. The cats attack her and she runs scared into a nearby telephone booth. She calls a man, presumably her husband, but he is watching TV and ignores the call.

Action

  • Weather Control: A Sim perfects a weather control device. Shots are shown of the weather changing instantly, and eventually a meteor storm hits while the Sim who made the device sits inside reading a newspaper, unaware of the chaos taking place outside. The same clip was used in a trailer for The Sims 2: Seasons.
  • Fetch: Set in Strangetown. A man throws a stick for his dog, and it is chased by many other dogs as well as the llama mascot and some random people including the man who threw the stick. The man picks it up and throws it again.

Comedy

  • Mime Cat: A mime, which hugely resembles Gabby the Mime from House Party, gives a terrible performance and is booed off by the crowd, observed by a stray cat. The cat trains and becomes an excellent mime, gaining attention and stealing the spotlight from the Sim mime, who is shown crying on a nearby bench towards the end.
  • Chicken: Like Fetch, the movie is set in Strangetown. A chicken beats several people at chess. Unlike the other movies, Chicken was made on the console version of The Sims 2.

Drama

  • Pool Table: Teenage Sims play with the pool table, until towards the end the Sim who won celebrates his victory by kissing his girlfriend.
  • Bubble Bath: Three Sims go for a makeover. Two makeovers succeed; the other fails. The woman whose makeover failed is seen scrubbing her face with a cloth while the second has a bath. Afterward the third goes out on a date.

Children's

  • Fairies and Family Fun: Both of the children's movies are random shots with no storyline.

Reactions[edit | edit source]

During[edit | edit source]

Sims that watch a movie will react in many different ways, depending on what movie they're watching, as well as what's happening around them. These don't cause temporary moodlets.

  • If watching a horror movie, they may gasp at scary scenes.
    • If they are eating popcorn while watching a horror movie, on the other hand, they can possibly jump, and spill their popcorn everywhere.
  • At touching/sad moments in a movie, it can cause a Sim to cry.
  • Funny and happy moments can bring a smile to a Sim's face, or make them burst into laughter.
  • If another Sim is talking whilst someone else is watching a movie, another Sim will shush them and tell them to be quiet while the movie's on.

After[edit | edit source]

After the movie, Sims that watched it will gain a moodlet based on their thoughts on the movie. Depending on their thoughts, they could get an angry, bored or happy moodlet.

Image Moodlet Name Effect Emotion Time Period Game Dialog/Description
File:Angry Movie.png 1 Angry 4 Hours
Boring Movie 1 Bored 4 Hours You could call that movie the sleeper hit of the year. Empasis on "sleeper".
Interesting Flick 1 Happy 4 Hours That move was... interesting. Worth a watch, at least this once.
Genre Staple 2 Happy 4 Hours An instant classic! Surely that flick will be in contention for awards season this year.
