A pool table is an object available in The Sims. The Sims: Superstar included a more expensive pool table. In The Sims 2, pool tables returned in the University, FreeTime, and Apartment Life expansion packs. In The Sims 3, pool tables returned in The Sims 3: Showtime.

The pool table is expensive, costing over 1000 simoleons. It fulfills the fun need and improves Room/Environment slightly. In The Sims 2, there is a hidden pool playing skill. Sims with high pool playing skill can "Hustle" pool, and have a better chance of successfully performing trick shots. With University, teen Sims can get a scholarship, the Phelps-Wilsonoff Billiards Prize, for high pool playing skill. In FreeTime, playing pool builds enthusiasm for the Games hobby.

The Sims 3

Pool tables were first rumored to return in The Sims 3: Late Night, but did not. However, the announcement trailer for The Sims 3: Showtime showed a pool table, and a broadcast for showcasing The Sims 3: Showtime confirmed its return.[1]

The pool table can be used by Sims who are teens or older. It can be played solo or in groups of up to 4.

The pool table has a Tricks feature which expands on the "trick shots" that were avalable in The Sims 2. Sims can perform tricks when playing pool. If they succeed, they will get better in pool, but if their tricks go wrong somehow, their skill in pool will decrease.

There are four tricks which are 8-Ball Frappe, Shave and a Haircut, Hole in Two and Putt Putt Gnome.[2]

  • 8-Ball Frappe - Sims will set up a blender full of billiard balls and attempt to get the white ball inside while the blender is on! If the trick fails, the blender will tip and a few balls will be heading for his/her face!
  • Shave and a Haircut – Sims will set up a Xylophone and attempt to hit brush it with the ball and make it into the pocket If the trick fails, the white ball will fall off the table!
  • Hole in Two – Sims will set up a plastic cup and attempt to get the ball into the cup, for it to fall backwards and pour it into the pocket for a hole in two! If the trick fails, the ball will fall off the table!
  • Putt Putt Gnome – Sims will set up their billiard ball design and attempt to cheat the gnome and get the ball in the pocket. If the trick fails, Mr. Gnome will spin and whip the ball back in your face!

There are two pool tables in Showtime. They are Side Pocket Pool Table and Luxtacular Ultra Deluxe Pool. They cost §4950 and §5950 respectively.
