Sim lore is the broadly consistent history and structure of The Sims series worlds as detailed within the various games.
Lore is often communicated through flavour texts and memories[TS2] rather than through gameplay. The adventures introduced in The Sims 3: World Adventures also expand on Sim lore. For example, the flavour text for Eternal Life, a painting introduced for purchase in World Adventures, tells of a painter Sim named Han Shin who died shortly after the painting was completed. Another example of lore is that of Zebest Quizine in The Sims 2: FreeTime, a character in competition with Julien Cooke, but who only exists in Cooke's flavour text. The structure of a world also contributes to the lore, with wealthy Sims families like the Landgraabs and Altos living in lovely hill-top manors in Sunset Valley, while Sims like Claire Ursine live in smaller, cheaper homes with less impressive views.
History of Sims lore[edit | edit source]
With subsequent games, the lore of the Sims series has grown extensively. Beginning with the crudely named Neighborhood 1 and Neighborhood 2 in the The Sims, the lore has expanded to detail minute aspects of characters' lives, and introduced many historical characters that do not exist as Sims in game.

Julien Cooke's flavour text tells of how his competitor, Zebest Quizine, trumped him in a cooking competition.
- Landgraab & Necteaux

Admiral Landgraab tried to have Anastasia Necteaux killed so that he could take credit for inventing nectar.
- Hatshepsut
Queen Hatshepsut had several tombs hidden around Al Simhara which players can explore.
- Nayr & Nosylla
King Nayr and Queen Nosylla are depicted in a wedding tapestry purchasable in World Adventures.
- Peynter
Judith Peynter is a Sim available for use in SimCity 4. In The Sims: Livin' Large, a self-portrait of her is available in Buy mode. She has a descendant, Olive Peynter, who did one of the paintings in The Sims 2. The flavor text for that painting states that generations of Peynters have lived in SimCity, and implies that Olive is alive.
