resurrect a ghost[edit source]

how do you resurrect a ghost in sims 3

Take the urn of the ghost sim to the Science Lab, I think thats how. I haven't got the game yet :( --X rowan x 19:21, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

How do you ressurect a ghost in THE SIMS 3?[edit source]

This seems like an impossible task but I know you can do it. How? Matta jr 18:25, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't know but I do know that a couple of days after a sim's death the ghost will start appering, but it won't be part of your household, and when you put the urn in your inventory and go to the science lab nothing happens and there are no new options :( --Limemabean 03:45, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Ok I found this on the web, I don't know if it's true... well here it is: You need a death fish and a life fruit, both can be found at the graveyard (the seeds to the life fruit are found just outside the entrance and you have to grow it yourself - these seeds are rare though). To get the fish; I think there's a pond at the graveyard which you have to fish at after 2 a.m. with cheese as bait. Once you've got these ingredients you have to make an ambrosia, which you have to eat or give to the grim reaper in return for the dead sim. And people keep say that if you have a baby with a ghost then it will be human but I think that if the mom is a ghost, it will be a ghost, and if the mom is a human it will be human --Limemabean 03:52, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Limemabean. I will try it out :D Matta jr 21:41, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

There actually 3 ways to resurrect a ghost! One way is Limemabean said. The second way if that there's a 20% chance you'll recieve a phone call saying the science lab can cure your ghost. The third way is to wait until an opportunity shows up saying that they resurrect your ghost. - jktee51192

Sims with the moodlet manager can "cure" or "zap" a ghost.

To resurect a ghost you have to get the opportunity "Oh,my ghost".

Playable Ghost[edit source]

It says that if you have a playable ghost baby it will age. Is this true for ghost you have resurrected, or just the ones you have. And what about when the babies age into elders? Will they just be an elder forever, since they can't die...--Bella Goth 22:35, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Bella Goth

Pregnant Ghosts?[edit source]

i don't have sims2 but i will get it soon,if you die can you the ghost?if so is there a special way to do it?if you have the answer leave it on this page

Ghosts are not playable in The Sims 2. When a Sim dies, they become a ghost but if they were the last living Sim on the lot it is no longer playable until you move in a living Sim. --a_morris (talk) 02:30, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

Death By... Vampirism?[edit source]

Bleeh My daddy is the richest man in all of Belladonna Cove!

I didn't know Sims in The Sims 2: Nightlife could die by being a vampire! How can they? If anybody knows that is.... :)
If you leave them out in the sun for too long, vampires will die. Even if you have Seasons and its raining, it counts as sunlight.
(They're not like Twilight vampires. =P) Aces.trump 23:34, December 28, 2009 (UTC)
Bleeh My daddy is the richest man in all of Belladonna Cove!

Oh, ok. I get it now. I knew they could die by THAT, but it just said being a vampire. It should specifify that it's the sunlight that kills them. I thought they meant just plainly being a vampire! :D

Returning to Netherworld[edit source]

In The Sims 3, i once ressurected a ghost dead by old age. I saw the ghost had an aging bar, but i didn't check if it was going up, i just used testingcheatsenabled true to make it age, it shown as it became unressurectable, and it automatically returned to the Netherworld. And then i remembered the opportunity told me to "bring the urn of a ressurectable ghost. Is it possible that, without cheating, a ghost will become unplayable?{{SUBST:Nosubst|Signatures/Alex1496}} 15:04, February 7, 2010 (UTC) 14:58, February 7, 2010 (UTC)

im ecountering some sort of problem with my playable ghost. i was having him tutor one of my other sims in fishing to help his carrer, but then when i was looking at another sims skill page the ghost just turned into a gas and floated into his urn. i tried to ressuruct him again but the option didnt appear , which makes no sense because i had already used the "Oh my ghost" event twice. so is there some kind of time limit my ghost can stay or are they meant to stay forever til i make them leave? thanks for any explaintion in advance.

Theese poor sleepless ghosts![edit source]

Look close, Kermit Landgraab collapsed on the ground due to lack of sleep- shown in his thought bubble.

Since Kermit cannot sleep in the graveyard, he collapsed from tiredness. This could fit in somewhere o the page, that all graveyard ghosts will do this. MacSim 02:45, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

Is there a way to check who are all the ghosts in your game and where? I'm 95% sure Yumi Sekemoto died in my game, but I don't have the slightest idea of where her grave is. UBFunkaneer 00:59, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

Different Attributes of 'types' of ghosts[edit source]

Is there a summary of the different attributes of the different types of ghosts in Sims 3? Like... personality differences between 'old age' and 'fire' ghosts, or different things they might do (drowning sims leave puddles if I remember correctly). Would be nice to know for planning my 'Munsters' style monster house :)

>>Death-by-Fire Ghosts can give the 'cozy fire' moodlet to those around them

Charisma Training[edit source]

Can anyone try practicing speech with their ghost Sims? Mine doesn't seem to be able to do so since it stops whenever he starts practicing. My human Sims can do it just fine. Thanks. --Blizzire 04:06, August 18, 2010 (UTC)Blizzire

Death by aspiration failure?[edit source]

I've been playing The Sims since the age of 6 and here I can see here that there is death by aspiration failure. This can't be possible because a visit from the Therapist does not lower a sim's motives and a sim cannot die so simply by keeping their aspiration too low. I've noticed that ghosts who die e.g. by cowplant also start crying about their aspiration. This cannot be a ghost type, right? |_Andronikos Leventis 20:51, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

I have changed it to "Death by Sadness", I have heard if too many bad events happen in a row they will die. Also for the cowplant death ghost, he/she just happened to have a low aspiration when he died, so that carried on to the afterlife.

Shift+Click To Delete a Ghost[edit source]

I had a ghost that was haunting my lot eternally, so I used the Object -> Delete command, which the page said was harmless. But it has been several days and he has yet to come back out and I'm getting somewhat worried. Will he return, or did I seriously permanently delete him?
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I wanted to be sure.
~ FangzV ( Flame at me here) as said on 19:02, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

I saw a ghost cheering in Sims 2. She was an Elder who had died of old age with Perma-Platinum aspiration. I think this should be mentioned on the page.

Types of Death in The Sims 2[edit source]

Despite what I've discussed with Dharden last year, I'm still in doubt. Some types of ghost and death actually don't exist; e.g. death by money sack or witch throne. Those incidents do cause motive drains, but when only the hunger motive is drastically low, they'll die by starvation instead, and the ghost will be the ghost of starvation. So... I think they're not unique types of ghost. :/ Nikel Talk 10:45, February 6, 2012 (UTC)

Ghosts' ages (Sims 2)[edit source]

I don't have Sims 3 because I don't like it, so my question is about Sims 2. What types of ages exist in the game? I've only seen "adult" ghosts. Are there teens, children, toddlers? Recently my plantsim-toddler died in fire, I have a grave on the lot but nothing seems to be happening. The weird sounds appear at night as usually, but there is no ghost and when I try to move the grave on another lot nothing happens. Well, almost nothing. The first trying gave me some error, after other ones the interaction "Mourn" was missing and only "Force error" brought it back.Faust-RSI 21:41, February 28, 2012 (UTC)

I've seen adult and elder ghosts. I don't think toddler ghosts exist at all, children should exist for stuff like fire and teens definitely exist. I've heard sounds but seen no ghosts before so it may just be chance. Lost Labyrinth (c)(b) 21:43, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
So it is not only me. This means there is a potential bug within the game and at least toddlers' graves are impossible to "move out", only delete. Maybe "Ghost's ages" section is worth mentioning in the article? Only we need more information about children and also about The Sims and Sims 3.Faust-RSI 06:15, February 29, 2012 (UTC)
It's odd, considering that toddlers aren't supposed to be able to die in fires. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be able to die at all. It might be something specific to PlantSim toddlers, but with only one case (that I'm aware of) I'd just be guessing. Also, what's there about The Sims is pretty much it. Dharden (talk) 13:31, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Well, actually any toddler can die in fire, only this is impossible if you are not trying, and almost same with PlantSims. Though I wasn't trying "to kill" normal toddler myself, I saw plenty of experiments by other players. Toddlers are "the hard case" because: 1. If an adult or elder (maybe teen, also) is nearby, they will try to "save" toddlers (free will "off" doesn't matter) and even can teleport them through walls if they are unable to leave the room themselves. 2. The same with Social Workers - if motives will drop to much they arrive and save toddler. With Plantsims it's a bit easier because there are only 3 motives and they can to stay high enough for Social Worker not to come. 3. The fire somehow "avoids" catching toddlers, I don't know if this is the property of the code. But even if the whole room is on fire it takes considerable amount of time to "catch" toddler.Faust-RSI 14:00, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
I never experience any toddlers catching on fire. I once experimented it too, but they're just... not "aware" of fire. According to Cyjon, Firefighters, Grim Reaper, ghosts, toddlers, and babies are immune to fire. He says that if they're marked to burn, they will immediately unmark themselves before the fire starts. Nikel Talk 14:15, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Interesting. I'm guessing, but it seems possible that toddler ghosts and moving toddler graves weren't provided for, as they should be either saved or taken away before they can die. Dharden (talk) 14:17, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Seems to be the case. Also, previously I thought I just didn't notice because I wasn't paying enough attention, but now that I think about it, it seems PlantSim toddler was never actually burning. I.e. after some time in fire it just disappeared without any signs of being on fire, though Grip Reaper did come, the grave appeared and ash was left as usual.Faust-RSI 14:22, March 1, 2012 (UTC)
Another oddity I've found while browsing through SimPE (click to enlarge):
This is how resources of any dead sim look like
This is dead sim that has already walked as a ghost AT LEAST ONCE. Or simply an active ghost.
Now this is an image of my dead PlantSim toddler. Notice how it's no different from an ACTIVE ghost data. The game actually thinks this is a normal ghosts and it's walking at nights

Faust-RSI 17:12, March 1, 2012 (UTC)

I've received an answer from Cyjon:

02.03.2012, 22:01, "Cyjon" <cyjon@cyjon.net>:

"> The code isn't straightforward. Both the sim and the fire itself are > doing things at the same time so that makes it hard to trace. Toddlers > can't be *on fire* but I guess that doesn't mean they can't die of fire. > As near as I can tell, if a toddler is sitting in a fire he can still > die even though he will not actually be burning. > > However I'm pretty sure that's a bug. Everything I see leads me to > believe toddlers should never be able to die, and the problem with > toddler ghosts reinforces that idea. There is one particular line that > I'm pretty sure branches to the wrong line and, in fact, makes toddlers > more susceptible to fire than older sims. > > So apparently toddlers can die of fire, but they shouldn't be able to. I > might fix that someday. In the meantime, I'll change my fire page. > Thanks for the input. > > Cyjon"Faust-RSI 10:27, March 3, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Dharden (talk) 12:44, March 3, 2012 (UTC)
One last nuance. When I put the toddler's grave on the lot, every third night, when a normal ghost should appear, I was always getting a message that toddler "Died on another lot and it's spirit will return to the place of death". But only yesterday I've noticed that with this message the toddler ghost was appearing, too! So it do exist. However toddler-ghost only stands up, then sits down and disappears, it exists about 4 seconds. There is a screen-shot:
Toddler-ghost
Faust-RSI 12:03, March 4, 2012 (UTC)
That's intriguing! So I guess toddler ghosts exist but they're not meant to. Nikel Talk 12:54, March 4, 2012 (UTC)

Deleting Tombstone[edit source]

According to MATY, deleting tombstones could potentially cause bad thing to happen. Nikel Talk 12:57, May 1, 2012 (UTC)

Interactions between Sims and Ghosts in Sims 1-2[edit source]

Hi, I'm played Sims 1 before and from my knowledge their only interaction with living Sims is Be Spooked and this only happens if they choose to scare one. When they do scare one the Sim just screams but doesn't run around the house. They may also wander endlessly inside a Sim's house without the Sim noticing.

But since I haven't played Sims 2 I'm curios about how they can be interacted with. I read that section but I am a little unsure about this statement: "Sims do not seem to notice or react to ghosts unless one chooses to make its presence known."

It sounds pretty similar to Sims 1 but what does it mean by "make its presence known". Is it like in Sims 1? Could you please be more specific? Thanks.' Blueknightex 00:07, June 2, 2012 (UTC)

In The Sims 2 living Sims and ghosts generally ignore one another, unless a ghost chooses to get "in a Sim's face". The ghost will go up to the Sim, make itself visible, and make a face at the Sim. The Sim will jump, and his or her needs will drop, but the Sim will not get "spooked" and run around.
As I recall, seeing a ghost in The Sims can cause a Sim to "Be Spooked" even if the ghost doesn't do anything. Dharden (talk) 00:42, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
I also recall seeing Sims get spooked while outside, even when the ghost was at a distance, but I don't recall if there's a minimum distance. So, I would not say that ghosts in The Sims choose to scare Sims. Dharden (talk) 00:52, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
Ok so I just re-watched these gameplay videos on YouTube. Have a look at them.Blueknightex 01:15, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
  • 1- at 0:29 - The ghosts just passes by Cassandra (the little girl) and she doesn't get "Be Spooked" even while she's trying to take a bath.
  • 2- start at 09:46 - Notice how the player can cancel the "Be Spooked" interaction on the queue while the Sim is still talking to another person? So it's not induced as soon the Sim sees one. Its an interaction like "Talk" for example. If a Sim wants to talk to another person while that person is doing something else its waiting on queue. But I noticed that they do run away from the ghost after being scared though. Anways, ghosts only use "Be Spooked" interaction only if they want to. Not because I Sim sees them.
I think it's fair to say that Sims in The Sims do not always notice ghosts, and that ghosts can spook Sims. However, I disagree that the "Be Spooked" interaction only happens when a ghost chooses to use it. Dharden (talk) 01:36, June 2, 2012 (UTC)
Hmmm.... the examples I recall of Sims being Spooked without a ghost doing anything took place outdoors. Maybe that makes a difference. Dharden (talk) 01:44, June 2, 2012 (UTC)

I want my Graveyard Ghosts back![edit source]

I've noticed something weird with my ghosts in any neighborhood graveyard. They all leave in Sloppy Jalopies. I once saw Wilhelmina Leaf (A child!) leave in one once! All ghosts leave when my Sim arrives, usualy nearly all of them, all at once. Is there some way to prevent this from hapening?

GothLoliManda (talk) 07:18, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Expansion pack ghosts in the base game[edit source]

Did you know, you can get jellybean ghosts, transmutation ghosts, ect, in the base game via cheats? Just make sure you have testingcheatsenabled activated, and probably a certain patch (Idk which), and shift-click on a ghost, and there should be an option to change the ghost type. Choose a ghost type that actually requires an expansion pack, and there you go, you're done! :) XXxCrazyThingXxX (talk) 22:04, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

Woah, really? Are you sure we should click the ghost itself, not the tombstone? Interesting, nonetheless! I think this explains why there are Sims who died of Mummy's Curse and Meteor, even though they're not in their respective EP (I think the Sim who died of Mummy's Curse is in Twinbrook), as well as why there's ghost by freezing if you've installed patch 42 without Seasons. Perhaps the codes and colors of ghosts are carried forward in patches instead of respective EPs. And with Supernatural, where you can create premade ghost in CAS, I guess it's a simpler way to check this. :o Nikel Talk Vote! 08:22, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
Yes, you click the ghost itself. Try it out. I didn't actually change the ghost though, but you can do it. It really is interesting. XXxCrazyThingXxX (talk) 12:44, February 9, 2013 (UTC)
In CAS you can make a Blunt force Trauma Ghost and a Protesting ghost. so yeah. ghosts of all types show up depending on the patch. not the expansion their death is included in. or so it seems.Sasha Nekosune (talk) 10:11, February 22, 2013 (UTC)

Grave disappearance[edit source]

In a Sims 3 custom world that I made, I had an empty graveyard. A while back a few of my Sims started dying, so I moved their graves into the graveyard. Everything was normal...until I went into edit town mode and went into the graveyard. All the graves disappeared.

Keeping Ghosts At Bay in TS3[edit source]

I have another file, which I know will at some point have a private graveyard on the home lot, because they are Goths. In this file, I don't want it to be like my other Goth file, where at night the ghosts flood the house, and disturb what my sims are doing. So I was wondering, does the moat trick from TS2 work in this game?

Also, if I put a basement, using the build mode tool, and put all the tombstones down there, with no stairs leading up to the ground (kinda like a catacombs), would that also stop ghosts from flooding the house? (Just in case the moat trick doesn't work.) WayfinderOwl (talk) 01:36, September 5, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know and I never tried, but I'm very certain that it would work. Ghosts aren't supposed to be able to reach inaccessible area. They can reach obstructed areas, but not inaccessible areas. Have you given it a try? Nikel Talk Vote! 12:50, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
Not yet. I do plan to though. I am doing a sort of legacy, and eventually with it, I plan on the family having a secret chamber on their home lot, which they "discovered." I do plan for it to contain the remains of a long lost ancestor. I will put an urn down there, to see what happens. WayfinderOwl (talk) 17:27, September 30, 2014 (UTC)
