This is the most technologically advanced place on Felicity Island -- featuring electricity, running water, and a sense of foreboding. Although it’s not clear exactly what happened here, the fact that this place was abandoned so quickly is still unsettling.

The Abandoned Research Base is a community lot on Felicity Island, one of the neighborhoods shipped with The Sims Castaway Stories. Like all community lots, it can be visited by using the travel map. A path to the south leads to The Hot Springs. The abandoned base has an airplane, which is intact and can be played in by Sims, and a runway. There are lots of boxes and parts to gather, like parachute ropes and airplane parts. There is also a story reward object in a big box buried on the beach of this lot, which contains a grand piano.

In the Shipwrecked and Single story, Professor Rhinehart tells the protagonist to look here for a replacement sail for the raft, after the former sail gets burned up. The protagonist gets mad at the professor for not telling them about this research base earlier to which he apologizes. In the end, the protagonist concludes that, the professor had been working at The Abandoned Research Base on an evil project to set himself up as an immortal volcano god.
