Sims 2: University Major Classes[edit source]

Thank you for the edit of the classes. I didn't realize that you were meaning that majors normally have two-hour classes, but have at least one or two three-hour classes. Now it is clear what you are saying. Thank you.

Related to the majors, I was disappointed that I couldn't find information about each semester's class time, title, and skill requirements. I have since found all that information and think it would be a good thing to include. I am just not sure how to include it. Any ideas? Icemandeaf (talk) 05:10, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

So how do I sandbox it? Icemandeaf (talk) 05:39, February 11, 2013 (UTC)
I agree that the images for the hours should be all or none. I was thinking that maybe the ones that the Wiki doesn't have at the moment could be made in consistancy with the rest of them. That would be alright to do, right? Icemandeaf (talk) 04:49, February 13, 2013 (UTC)
I can make them fairly easily with what is already there. Icemandeaf (talk) 04:57, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

Canceling or Cancelling?[edit source]

I think they're both correct...? But according to the MoS, we have to keep consistent with the usage. Which one to use? Nikel Talk Vote! 18:21, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

I always thought "cancelling" was the correct one. Is this the same case as "traveling" and "travelling?" I knew the difference just now. Nikel Talk Vote! 04:34, February 19, 2013 (UTC)

RE: Ghosts and TS3 patches[edit source]

IIRC, I heard that Supernatural Types feature that enable life states to be created in CAS requires Supernatural, but I might have been wrong. I suspect that the info about patch 1.38 in SimsVIP only enables ghosts to change their color (changing the ghost color is in separate tab from Supernatural Types button), but not create one in CAS. Besides, the method explains an in-game Sim using the testingcheatsenabled to enter the CAS, not a newly-made CAS Sim. Nikel Talk Vote! 13:41, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

RE: Categories added by 71.63.21.20[edit source]

That would make a lot of sense. I agree that we reverted the edits to quickly, and without checking to see if they were actually correct. I can try and find some full-body pictures of those Sims, or I could try to take some of my own. ~ Waikikamukow (Anyone wanna chat?) 21:19, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Notice about the Warning template[edit source]

Hello fellow administrator. I wanted to make you aware of an upcoming changeover regarding the {{Warning}} template. You can see the discussion of this change here.

Starting now, a new warning template will be available for use. This template is currently available at {{NewWarning}}. However, on April 2, the new warning template will be moved to {{Warning}} and the old warning template will be retired. Please use this transition period to test out the new template before the full changeover. In the period leading up to the changeover, please report any bugs or issues, and offer any suggestions, in the new template discussion

The new template does away with the <reason> parameter of the old template. You can now make your warning more specific by filling in the <type> parameter. Type will automatically load in text depending on the type and the level you select. Additionally, certain types have multiple 'levels', ranging from 1 to 3, with 1 being the least severe, and 3 being the most severe phrasing of the warning message itself. The types are:

  • Vandalism (entered as 'vandal#') warns against making non-constructive edits. The 'vandal1' message is the template's default message if no type is entered.
  • Blanking pages or sections (entered as 'blank#') warns against removing content from entire pages or sections of pages.
  • Removing content (entered as 'remove#') warns against removing useful and accurate content from pages.
  • Violating file policy (entered as 'file#') warns users that upload files or images in violation of the Image and File policy.
  • Disruptive behavior (entered as 'disrupt') warns users that attack other users, engage in edit warring, etc.
  • Sockpuppetry (entered as 'sock') warns users that are suspected of having control over multiple unauthorized accounts.
  • Additionally, there is a custom option available if none of the pre-existing types suit your needs. If you choose to use a custom message, the <type> parameter should be set to 'custom' and the optional <custom> parameter will hold your message. If <type> says anything other than 'custom' and the <custom> parameter is filled in, the custom message will not display.

So, to sum it up, the parameters are:

<type>: You should fill this parameter in, unless you're alright with displaying the default, non-specific warning text.
<custom>: Fill this in only if you've filled in 'custom' under the <type> parameter; otherwise, leave this blank.
<sig>: This parameter is mandatory - include your signature here.
<other>: If you want to include additional information to the recipient, you can fill in this parameter. The text you enter will appear below your signature but above the 'boilerplate' message at the bottom of the notification.

One last thing... remember to substitute the template, just as you do when you use {{Warning}}. This is to ensure that any future changes to the template don't alter how it appears on user talk pages.

If you've got any questions about this new warning or its implementations, feel free to drop me a message. -- LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 04:09, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

Design help[edit source]

Hello! I am the admin of the Swedish The Sims Wiki Page, and I have a question I am hoping you can answer!

How did you (well, perhaps not you, but you guys on The Sims Wiki) make the Top Menu? I would be extremely happy if you could give me the code or something like that. (And also, how did you put the image behind the top menu?)

AlltOmSimsSaga (talk) 19:24, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for helping me! After reading on the page you linked me to, I found the CSS-codes and managed to fix the swedish wiki. Super thanks!

Sorry![edit source]

Sorry about that! I copied a userbox from another page and it didn't edit correctly. But I fixed it! =) Audball2108 (talk) 00:24, March 20, 2013 (UTC)

Admin and Bureaucrat flag colors[edit source]

Hi Dharden! Do you know how to change the color of the admins and bureaucrats signature so that it is green like on this wiki? I mean .. You know your username is highlighted in green, how would I do that for my wiki? Do you know?

IP fanon[edit source]

Hi there Dharden, I would like to hear your input on something. Yesterday an unknown IP created the page Catherine Chamberlin. After looking into it, it turns out that this Sim appears to be a part of the IP's gameplay. I wondered what would happen to the page, as it was created by an IP and it only contains two sentences about the Sim. Thanks for taking the time to read my message! :) HanaGoth96 (Neigh...?) 14:39, May 14, 2013 (UTC)

Spelling[edit source]

Sorry about the awesomeMod spelling. It looked wrong to me so I changed it, I didn't know it was spelt different in US spelling. Correct me again if I misspell a word. Blue12porcupine talk 20:32, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

Hello![edit source]

Hi, Dharden. :))) We haven't spoken in awhile, I just wanted to know how you have been. :) x --RoseGui (talk here) 14:57, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

Hahaha, I have been okay. :) I had exams, but I think I did well. As for The Sims, I really wanted the University Life and Island Paradise, which I haven't had the chance to buy yet. Also, it seems they are going to release The Sims 4 and I know you don't own The Sims 3, but are you going to buy it by any chance? To be honest, I don't like it when they say they are going to focus on the cartoonish looks more, it seems to me like going back in time to The Sims 2, and I hope not. --RoseGui (talk here) 15:45, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, before I signed in, I was incapable of viewing anything.  One of the admins had banned the IP address, it seems, claiming I was "ban-evading; a certain user from Wisconsin strikes again."  I've never made any edits or done anything on this site, so I don't understand why the IP itself was banned.  I just wanted to be sure my account did not get banned just because someone who once had my IP had been banned before.  Proof of my non-evasion for this would be the amount of time my wikia account has been active.  Thanks, and have a good day!  Creedofheresy (talk) 03:11, September 26, 2013 (UTC)

Request for administratorship feedback[edit source]

Dharden, We've had a request for administratorship active for awhile now. According to the RfA rules, it needs to proceed to a vote unless there's a clear consensus in favor of his promotion. Well, including the nominating user, there were four people who voiced support for him, and no one has been opposed. So, in the strictest term, it was consented to since no one has objected, but the community is significantly larger than four users.

So, what I'm asking is for you to take a look at that request and help decide whether it indicates that Jason should be promoted, or whether it should proceed to a formal vote.

Thanks - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 01:21, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

Mr.Conductor[edit source]

This user's userpage is inappropriate and I can't change it. --Walker guy94 Talk to me! 14:49, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

Somehow when I tried to clear up that user's page, It triggered a filter which said that I was about to make an unconstructive edit. So it's really that only admins can change other people's userpage? Anyway glad that you're here to put a stop whatever that user was trying to do. --Walker guy94 Talk to me! 15:09, October 6, 2013 (UTC)
I also spotted this user uploaded image with profane title (I can't put the link, it triggered the abuse filter). --Walker guy94 Talk to me! 15:29, October 6, 2013 (UTC)

Siphon or Syphon[edit source]

My game refers it to "Syphon" instead of "Siphon" but you said that the latter is correct in US English so which one we should actually use? --Frostwalker Talk to me! 07:39, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

I checked some sources which say that both of these two words are proper in American English and British English as well. It's also mentioned that "Syphon" is just only a spelling variation of "Siphon", so why not to use the one which is referred in the game? --Frostwalker Talk to me! 13:37, November 5, 2013 (UTC)
