I've been in this Wiki for a long, long time and I guess since a new generation of users has taken over, I guess I got lazy, bahaha. You know, I'm glad you're in this wiki. We need hardworking users like you. Tell me, how long have you been in Wikia? Ah, brings me back. And that's good, you took a chance at the right time. To be honest I haven't seen much of the things going on behind the screens lately here, since to me, most of the things are done and life's been a little busy too. To be honest, I was not aware I had such an authority. It's not something I requested. I don't even know how to give voice to someone. Player stories as categories

This seems to be a common new-user mistake. The only reason I can think of is that they're unfamiliar enough with the interface that they assume the area for entering categories is for entering a new story. Telling them not to do that would seem to be less than effective if they don't know that it's what they're doing, or what they should be doing. Dharden (talk) 13:53, July 25, 2010 (UTC)

Colors in templates

I've found that not all browsers can parse colors given as three hex digits. Firefox does, but Opera (at least as of 10.54, does not. I haven't upgraded to the latest version yet, but don't expect that to change. Anyway, I adjusted the new adminnav template so the colors should display properly in all browsers, even if only Firefox shows the rounded corners.Dharden (talk) 04:00, July 26, 2010 (UTC)

Moving Forum posts

I had a rush of brains to the head and figured out how to do this. It's done by editing the Forumheader template at the top of each post. It appears that there's only one forum, but the Forumheader lets it function as several "virtual forums". Anyway, I shifted the Forum:Science lab glitch post to Questions. SimCity

Chronologically, SimCity Societies is the newest, but I've also heard really bad things about it; mainly that it ditches the concept of a simulation in exchange for a game that is too easy to play, even for beginners. On the opposite end, SimCity 4 (2003) is the most realistic but also the most complex of the SimCity games. SC3K (1999) is a fun, if not a bit cartoonish, game that steps up the difficulty from SimCity2000 but is not altogether too difficult once you know how.

I've personally played SCs 2K, 3K and 4, and I prefer SC4 to all of them, if only because it's the most realistic. With added buildings, mods, etc. it becomes a lot more varied and I feel it becomes more interesting. Graphically, none of the games are spectacular by today's standards; SC4 even is still in isometic perspective, even though it was released in 2003. The other caveat with SC4 is that building large cities is impossible without a region to support it, meaning that you can't just start up a city and start building skyscrapers; you have to start lots of cities and slowly make connections and build a regional commerce that supports large cities.

SimCity is not the same as The Sims; it's not even in the same area as The Sims despite their related beginnings. But I'm a personal fan of cities, urban design and all that, so I like that SC is it's own unique game. -- Patrick (LostInRiverview) (talk)(blog)(random page) 22:20, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

Thoughts on edting

I'm beginning to think that one of the problems new or anon. users may have is that the rich-text editor is the default. Enclosing text in double curly-braces is unusual enough that even someone who doesn't know what a template is may realize that it's some sort of code. However, to someone who doesn't know that a green puzzle piece represents a template, it may look out of place. It may look like something that shouldn't be there, rather than like something that should. Dharden (talk) 14:30, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

I have seen you around and noticed that you're an admin. I didn't know how to report socks so I thought I'd ask you.

It seems on Pregnancy, User:WhatZitToYa and an IP (70.26.83.118) have very similar edits, here and here. As they seem to be referencing the same thing in the same article, I found this suspicious and thought that I should bring this to administrator attention.

They were articles for the carpool drivers. It's been handled by listing them in Carpool. I was thinking that NPCs such as gardeners, firefighters, cops, and delivery drivers could be handled by having a list for each type, but I'm less sure about that now, given that they can be made playable.
