Thanks for your images[edit source]

We appreciate the images you've contributed to the wiki, however it seems you forgot to add some things to them. The images in question are:

Licensing: All images must have their licensing information added. If the image is from The Sims series of games or contains the PlumbBob, it is copyrighted to EA. Add {{Copyright by EA}}.
If you've made the image yourself, you need to decide on the license. The Sims Wiki recommends a Creative Commons license. Unless stated otherwise the image will be assumed to be under the CC-BY-SA license.
See Category:Copyright tags for a list of available copyright options.

Categories: All images must be put in a category. You can browse image categories to find the correct one. In most cases, your image should only be included into one category and only be put in Category:Images if there is no other place to put it.
See Help:Category for more information.

I went ahead and added the missing information.

If you have any further questions about this message or this wiki, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Duskey(talk) 09:13, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

I forget the category. Either way, I avoid copyright thing, because I don't really understand it properly.
Some Wikias use a pre-defined copyright style, like "This image is a screenshot" and etc. That is very helpfull.
Ilovefoxes 09:57, August 15, 2010 (UTC)
Can you give me an example? If an image is a screenshot of a Sims game, it's {{Copyright by EA}} as explained above. Duskey(talk) 12:17, August 15, 2010 (UTC)
http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Upload
Here you see pre-defined "Licensing" in the upload form
Ilovefoxes 12:27, August 15, 2010 (UTC)
Aha, that is clever. We're actually trying to improve how marking images for copyright works here on the wiki, I'll be sure to include this as an example. Thank you. Duskey(talk) 13:02, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Look what's been implemented: New license dropdown menu, thanks for the suggestion. Duskey(talk) 19:31, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Trait[edit source]

Good job on improving the trait page. Duskey(talk) 09:13, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I am good on visual improving. =P

New game icons[edit source]

New (proper) game icons, sweet! Are you resizing the excisting ones now? I see you're editing many of those pages. Duskey(talk) 05:40, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I am extracting them from the actual .ico and subsequently removing the shadow.
Yes yes! I am editing the pages, changing the extension to png in one file, and giving a proper size on the page (instead of depending on the file resolution)
Ilovefoxes 05:44, August 23, 2010 (UTC)
Sweet. In which package files did you find those? I'm using Sims 3 Package Explorer myself, but can't for the life of me find the right package files. Duskey(talk) 06:12, August 23, 2010 (UTC)
I did not found in any package D= The files are just left in the CDs or game folders (search for *.ico). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilovefoxes (talkcontribs) 08:41, August 23, 2010 (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~
I can only find small 32x32 icons both in game dirs and on the CDs :( --Duskeytalk 20:32, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
Hmmm, maybe you are not using a good program. *.ico files came with various images inside it in different sizes and color bits. I use IcoFX (http://icofx.ro/), it's freeware and very easy to use. Ilovefoxes 21:18, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
Oooh, thanks a lot. I had no idea ICO files had more images in them and thanks for the program :) --Duskeytalk 21:26, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

"Stupid" icon[edit source]

I deleted the icon for stupid since is was user created and not from the game. Duskey(talk) 21:18, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I sort of imagined that. >_< Ilovefoxes 23:01, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

List of vehicles[edit source]

You have the images for the various taxis from The Sims mixed in with the carpool vehicles. Also, do please try to remember that not everyone has a large and/or widescreen monitor. Aside from that, good job. Dharden (talk) 03:32, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

I use it more like a image gallery. So I want to upload all vehicle images. I use "Carpool" as all vehicles that you can't place in the lot, otherwise I call "Buyable" even if you can only get them as career reward etc.
Ilovefoxes 03:38, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

You may be interested in knowing that there's currently a discussion on how to organize cars and vehicles. The Sims Wiki talk:Community Portal#Cars & Vehicles. --Duskeytalk 13:33, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

In the list/gallery for The Sims, names such as "Studio", "Circus", and "Clown", just don't look right. The "Visitor trolley" is the Old Town trolley that comes when Sims call for a cab to Old Town. Calling it "Visitor trolley" doesn't convey that. The "Vacation wagon", which is used for going to Vacation Island lots, is the carpool SUV with a rooftop luggage rack and the spare tire slightly moved, so it makes more sense to call it an SUV than a "wagon". Dharden (talk) 00:51, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
BTW, is it just me, or does the pickup from The Sims have a 1940s look to it? Dharden (talk) 00:54, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I know, but these are the "data file" names for reference. If you use transmogrifier or another object editor, the vehicles will have names like "carstd", "carvisitortrolley", "cartruck", etc.
You are pretty right about the truck model. I did not even needed to do much research to proove it, a simple Google Images search is enough.
Ilovefoxes 07:41, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
I know they're the data file names, but a more-or-less casual visitor who isn't into TS1 object editing may not know that, and may not even know about T-Mog. Besides, something like "Clown car" for carclown isn't really different from "Junk car" and "Standard car" for carjunk and carstd. The names of the images are the data file names, and IMO, that should be enough for anyone who knows enough to do anything with them. Dharden (talk) 18:29, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
Dude, don't edit the names inside the quotes... the reason they are inside quotes is because they are a citation, have a source, or something of that sort... If you really think that they are incomprehensive names, add a description below them... :'(
Something of this sort:
"Magic wagon"
Magic Town Airship
Or if you think that it will mislead casual visitors, just get rid the lines inside the quotes.

Are we alone?[edit source]

It seems like we are the only one's on right now, are we? Because it feels like the whole Earth has gone silent.

-Giovanna 06:04, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

I think we are the kind of people that doesn't sleep because we are editing wikis... =P
Ilovefoxes 07:00, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

I know right, it seems like everytime I get on here, the activity feed always say, 'blah blah blah, edited 5 hours ago'. And I'm like, am I the only person on this wiki at this time of night-morning.... Might, more like it. And it also seems like Duskey has edited and created more articles than Facebook has users.

Lonely bicycle[edit source]

I noticed you haven't used File:S3 bicycle 02.png. Do you need it or can it be deleted? --Duskeytalk 22:36, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, yeah. After I downloaded bicycles from the Store, I noticed that the adult and child version not necessary have different names or other attributes. In fact, the ones I downloaded the adult and child version are identical except for the scale. So it wouldn't make sense to keep two versions of bicycles for each one.
Well, for now I think I will re-do the page and include this picture. I am not a big fan of vehicles with the same name, however to keep loyal to the game...
