Master template

a_morris TALK - 20:39, September 18, 2009 (UTC) Hi. I have created a Master template for Sims that appear in a single game: User:A morris/Sim. Could you take a look at it? Test it out, make sure I haven't forgotten anything. In the future, I am hoping to use this as a basis for all other templates (of this type). So if a change is required to the templates, we only have to do it once, instead of copying the code to all other templates of a similar type. As examples, I have also made User:A morris/Sim1, User:A morris/Sim2, User:A morris/Sim3. I have made these templates extensible as well, so that they can be the basis for console and expansion versions. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

The maritalstatus parameter is only going to display the current status of the Sim. Having a maritalstatus for each spouse causes some problems but it is doable, as the name of the spouse and their status has to be separate. It would still be possible to do if {{Spouse}} is used in the infobox of each article. --a_morris (talk) 19:58, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

You mentioned that the template is too small. Here's a thought - why don't we widen the template to maybe twice the size. Most pages are just the template anyway, but I'm not sure how it would look on pages like the Goth's which also have a lot of body text. And I'm not sure what we'd do with the image, it might look odd with so much white space around it. --a_morris (talk) 20:16, September 24, 2009 (UTC)

Re:Spouse and templates

Sure thing, I'll try to do that for the rest of the ones I do today. I just have one thing that I somewhat oppose: The thing about only adding a gravestone to spouse if the other is still alive. I don't think it's very informative, as what if you have a dead boyfriend/girlfriend, ex-spouse, etc.? M. H. Avril 23:15, September 23, 2009 (UTC)

Bayoubash - This town is filled with beatniks and hippies! TALK - What a frivolous folly! Hi Random Ranaun, sorry to bother you, but I need your opinion on this. I've looked at some theories of Sims such as Daniel Pleasant and Natasha Una and found that some of their theories are really unnecessary. For example; Alto Family/theories. Of course they're not mentioned in The Sims or The Sims 2, because they were newly made for The Sims 3! Daniel Pleasant/theories; Just because his children has his red hair gene and not their mother's black hair gene, that doesn't mean that Daniel's the one who gave birth to them! So, please tell me what you think and leave a message on my talk page.

Colon in titles

Why do you say the titles need a colon? I was trying to go by the official title, but are you thinking to standardize the titles by including the colon? --a_morris (talk) 22:35, November 26, 2009 (UTC)

Usergroups

What do you mean by usergroups? I was thinking of creating project pages for areas I think need improvement such as the console games, so users could collaborate on improving sections of the wiki dealing with a specific topic. I think it is a great idea, although I don't think we should have something as formal as a "group"! I am actually working on that right now, give me a couple of hours to put something up. Image categories

I think images should be placed only in sub-categories, not Category:Images itself, and should only be placed there temporarily before being moved to a subcategory. --a_morris (talk) 18:53, January 9, 2010 (UTC)

Changing templates

Please test the changes you make to the Bio templates before changing them using the testing procedure outlined in the documentation. "|}}" was showing up on Sim articles. Also, you forgot to add the new parameter to {{Simbio-uc}} or {{Simbio-uh}}. --a_morris (talk) 19:30, January 9, 2010 (UTC)
