This section describes features that are only available in The Sims 2.

A Sim's Aspiration Bar

The Aspiration bar is a bar showing the mental happiness for a Sim. When the player puts their cursor upon the bar, information will be shown, and the Lifetime Want will also be shown if University or later is installed.

Sims can fill the bar by fulfilling wants. A Sims' aspiration bar will decrease gradually over time, unless he or she is sleeping or meditating. Fulfilling fears also decreases the aspiration bar.

There are 6 levels of aspiration, each have their own description. The 6 levels are as follow, starting from the lowest to the highest:

  • Deep Red
  • Mild Red
  • Lower Green
  • Upper Green
  • Gold
  • Platinum

When the aspiration bar stays at the bottom for too long, the Sim Shrink will come and heal the Sim, and the aspiration bar will rise a little bit each day. If it was left untreated, the Sim will perform desperate actions. Until FreeTime, accomplishing a Lifetime Want will leave that Sim's bar at platinum until he or she dies. With FreeTime, fulfilling a Lifetime Want will boost the bar to platinum, and cause it to decay very slowly.

Lifetime Aspiration

As of The Sims 2: FreeTime, a Lifetime Aspiration bar is added. It accumulates points throughout a Sim's lifetime which can then be spent on Aspiration Benefits. Fulfilling wants on a daily basis fills the Lifetime Aspiration bar quicker. Sims can also receive points for certain important milestones, such as learning to walk, getting married or having a child.
