The Sims 2
In The Sims, it's known as Mr. Regular-Joe Coffee, and has an Energy rating of 1 and a Bladder rating of -1. It is always full, and Sims are not charged for using it on residential lots. However, they will be charged if they use it on community lots.
Coffeemakers work similarly in The Sims 2, increasing Energy while simultaneously decreasing Bladder. Sims will have to "Make Coffee" before anyone will be able to drink it, but there is no cost for doing this. A full pot of coffee holds six mugs, and the coffee will be good indefinitely. The Sims 2: FreeTime and Kitchen & Bath Stuff each add a coffeemaker. The Sims 2: Seasons adds the Perfect Packets Hot Chocolate Maker, which costs §85. It functions the same as a coffeemaker, but children can drink from it.

The Sims 2 also introduces the Ciao Time Espresso Machine. It still sells for §450, but has an Energy rating of 4 and a Bladder rating of -1. Unlike the machine in The Sims, it does not break. If the "Make Espresso" action is canceled before it is finished, the Sim will finish making the cup, and will leave it sitting there. A Sim can then be told to drink it by clicking on the machine and selecting "Take Espresso". It does not appear that the cup will get cold or go bad, no matter how long it sits.
In The Sims 2, the coffeemaker is given an Energy rating of 3, and renamed the Extra Pep Coffeemaker. It still has a Bladder rating of -1. In The Sims 2, a Sim will have to "Make Coffee" before anyone will be able to drink it, but there is no charge for doing this. A full pot of coffee holds six cups, and the coffee will be good indefinitely. The Sims 2: FreeTime and Kitchen & Bath Stuff each add a coffeemaker. FreeTime adds the Deluxe Coffee Maker by YouBrew, which sells for §95. Kitchen & Bath Stuff adds the Drip Drip Drip Little Coffeemaker by Kitchensations, which sells for §105. Except for price and appearance, they are the same as the the base-game coffeemaker. The Sims 2: Seasons adds the Perfect Packets Hot Chocolate Maker, which costs §85. It functions the same as a coffeemaker, but children can drink from it.

The Sims 2: University and The Sims 2: Apartment Life add an espresso cart that can only be placed on community lots. It automatically spawns a barista to make the coffee. Sims can buy coffee for themselves or for another Sim. Each cup of coffee costs §20. Sims can also work as the barista, which will earn them §16 per cup served.
In The Sims, Sims will stand to drink coffee. When a Sim is finished with a cup of coffee, the cup will vanish. In The Sims 2, Sims will sit to drink coffee if there is a vacant chair in the same room as the coffeemaker. Otherwise, they will stand. Also, in The Sims 2 coffee cups need to be cleaned up, but Sims will not autonomously put them in a sink or dishwasher unless the coffeecuphack mod from More Awesome Than You is used. Instead, they will look for a coffee table, end table, or desk to put the empty cup on, regardless of how far away it is.

Espresso machines
The Sims and The Sims 2 include espresso machines, which are more expensive, but provide more Energy than regular coffeemakers. As with regular coffeemakers, tired Sims may use them autonomously, regardless of the time.

Extra Pep Coffeemaker
In The Sims, the espresso machine is the Gagmia Simore Espresso Machine, which sells for §450. It has an Energy rating of 2 and a Bladder rating of -2. A drawback to this object is that it frequently breaks when used. As with coffeemakers, Sims are charged for using it on a community lot, but there is no charge to use it at home.

Coffeemakers return in The Sims 3 base game. There are several models in the base game and subsequent expansion packs. Coffeemakers in The Sims 3 do not affect the bladder motive. The Das BrauenMeister and Ultra Lounge Hot Beverage Machine are available at the Sims 3 Store for 75 SimPoints each. Both have Energy ratings of 3. All coffeemakers have many different types of coffee available, but all of them have the same effect. Drinking drinks from these coffeemakers gives Sims the buzzed moodlet, meaning that whatever energy they had before drinking will not matter and the Sim will not be able to sleep or nap until the moodlet expires. While there is no noticeable increase to energy, the game will treat the Sim as if their energy was full.

Coffeemakers or hot beverage makers are objects in The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4 that allow Sims to boost or buff their energy motive without sleeping.

The Sims[edit | edit source]

In The Sims, there are two coffeemakers available. Sims can use a coffeemaker autonomously, and tired Sims will often do so autonomously.

Coffeemakers are always full, and do not need to be refilled. Coffeemakers can be placed on community lots. Sims will be charged for each mug they drink. However, they will not be charged if used at home.

Sims will stand to drink coffee, and once they are finished the mug will simply disappear.

Mr. Regular-Joe Coffee[edit | edit source]

Mr. Regular-Joe Coffee

The Sims 2[edit | edit source]

Sims will sit to drink coffee if there is a vacant chair in the same room as the coffeemaker. Otherwise, they will stand. Also, in The Sims 2, coffee cups need to be cleaned up, but Sims will not autonomously put them in a sink or dishwasher unless the coffeecuphack mod from More Awesome Than You is used. Instead, they will look for a coffee table, end table, or desk to put the empty cup on, regardless of how far away it is.

This mod occasionally causes a minor "jump bug" when washing a coffee cup in a sink. This may interfere with the Headmaster scenario, as the Headmaster will vanish if it affects him.

On all machines, Sims can juggle the mugs for fun, and will often do so autonomously. [n 1]

 1. The mod MQ_No_Autonomous_Play_Juggle_Cups, available from this thread at Mod The Sims, can stop this.

The Sims 3[edit | edit source]
