Babyhood and Toddlerhood[edit | edit source]

Cedric was born on August 5th 2144 to parents Nathaniel and Tania Hodgson, in the city of Bridgeport. His father was a scientist working for the Federal Scientific and Industrial Research Bureau (FSIRB), and Tania was a teacher at PS 98 in the city of Willow Creek. Tania was under suspicion by the Government, as she did not enforce the harshly strict policies she was meant to. Cedric's parents actively taught him and his older sister Miami to reject and resist all Government teachings, despite the doom that could potentially befall them had word of their home education broke out.

Throughout Cedric's babyhood and toddlerhood, he formed an intimate relationship with his sister, Miami. She frequently played with him, and a strong bond formed between brother and sister. While his father taught him to walk, his mother taught him to talk, and by the time he turned 4, he had mastered all his toddler skills.

Childhood[edit | edit source]

WARNING: The following section of this article may contain spoilers to a fanon story. Proceed at your own risk.

Cedric's childhood began uneventfully. He was compulsorily enrolled at PS 66, another Bridgeportian school located on the outskirts of the city. This was to ensure that Miami and Cedric were kept apart so that outright joint rebellion between the two was impossible - it was for their own safety. During Cedric's time at PS 66, he was exposed to the same principles that his parents feared. Disgusted by his teachers, Cedric soon refused to do his schoolwork, bringing back poor results that caught the suspicions of the Government yet again.

When his sister Miami was arrested for speaking out against her teacher and the Government in 2150, Cedric, aged 6, and his parents were arrested two days later and sent to a maximum detention facility in Siberia, Russia.(PE) It was there that Cedric spent his final days of life.

Imprisonment and death[edit | edit source]

During his confinement in Internment Camp Omega-Beta-2, Cedric and his parents were interrogated by Government officials in an effort to find more of Miami's 'influences'. According to a young Government deserter that was posted at Omega-Beta-2 at the time:

They brought in a boy and his parents a month after I was assigned to Omega-Beta-2. He looked perfectly healthy and innocent. I saw no reason why a child would be brought in. I was horrified...when they started to torture him. I refused [to participate] in the interrogation of the boy. It was...unethical. Despite being assigned to a corridor a floor above, I could hear his screams of pain from the torture chamber. The pain for him was such that when the session came finally to an end, he was unconscious and completely unresponsive [to stimuli].

Throughout the time the Hodgsons were imprisoned, he and his parents refused to speak. Though they were initially kept in the same cell, they were a day later separated. On orders of the Government, the guards never fed Cedric and his parents. Cedric's cell was ruthlessly spartan: the only piece of furniture in the room was an elevated stone slab on which he slept, and he was never let out of his cell unless it was for interrogation. In the late hours of their second day in prison, the three were removed from their cells and shoved into the torture chamber for the last time. They were forced and locked into torturing chairs. Another anonymous soldier recounts:

[We] put them into the torture chairs, then [another guard] went to the console controlling the chairs. He turned up the voltage knob. Then...he flipped the switch. It looked excruciating. The voltage was enough to inflict huge pain, but not enough [to kill them]. It took around five to six shocks [to kill them].

After Cedric and his parents were confirmed dead, they were buried in a mass grave several kilometres away from the camp.(UD)

Reburial[edit | edit source]

After the end of the Liberation War, the bodies of Nathaniel, Tania and Cedric Hodgson were located on the request of Alexander Townsend. They, along with the other bodies in the mass grave, were exhumed and reburied in the Hodgson-Faulkner Mausoleum (later renamed Pleasant Meadows Mausoleum) in the outskirts of Oasis Landing, alongside the bodies of Ben Faulkner and Cedric's sister, Miami.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • I wanted to give Cedric a common name, which would symbolise the fact that all people were affected by the Government's regime. However, Cedric was the only name I found suitable for this character, so that's who he became.
  • I did not create all Hodgson family members at the same time. In fact, I only came up with the concept of Miami Hodgson's family after we finished writing three episodes. The actual Sims portraying these characters were created 6 months after the series first started.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. Cedric is only mentioned in this episode; he first makes a true appearance in the substory Undesirable.
