Melody Tinker is a pre-made playable Sim who lives in Bluewater Village, the shopping district that ships with The Sims 2: Open for Business. It's hinted that she was to take over the family toyshop, but apparently she has other plans. Some have suggested that Melody will be an artist. While that is up to the player, she does start with 5 points in the creativity skill, though she has no other skills.

Melody is a public school student, and has a C report card. When the player first loads the family, she is 14 days away from becoming an adult. Like her parents, Melody is very neat, and not too outgoing. Unlike them, she is not very playful, which may be one reason she doesn't want to run a toy shop.

Another possible reason is hinted at in the family album, which shows a toddler, presumably young Melody, being frightened by an evil Clown-in-a-Box. While being frightened by an evil Clown-in-a-Box is considered a negative memory, she doesn't have a memory of this, or any memories at all.

Melody wants to get into private school, and get a job either in the Science or Medicine career. Despite this, she isn't very interested in Sci-Fi or Health. If Seasons is installed, she may want to get a job in the Adventurer career. Melody also wants to have her first kiss. Since the Artist career track from University has no teen/elder track, she will not have a want to enter that career, though she can enter it if she goes to college.

Melody has brown eyes, but none of her parents and grandparents have brown eyes. It is unknown where her genetics for brown eyes are coming from, though this could be just an oversight by the developers. Melody has an invisible pregnancy modifier token, which means she has an increased likelihood of having twins.^[1] She has no gender preference at the beginning of the game.

Even though Melody is thin, her fitness level indicates that she is meant to be fit. Bella Goth and Pascal Curious also have this oddity. When editing in SimPE, Melody's zodiac sign is not recognized. Often going unnoticed, she has the same personality as Nina Caliente.
