Microphones are objects in The Sims: Superstar, The Sims 2: Apartment Life, and The Sims 4. Although they appear in The Sims 3: Showtime when a singer performs on stage, they are not actual buyable objects.
The Sims: Superstar[edit | edit source]
Talent Potentiometer Open Mic Stage is a Fame object in The Sims: Superstar, and is one of the only Fame objects that can be used by a Sim with no starpower, the other being The Genius Loci Karaoke Stage. Sims can entertain others with this object, but how well they perform will depend on their charisma and creativity skill.

The Sims 2: Apartment Life[edit | edit source]
The Small Superstar Microphone is an object added in The Sims 2: Apartment Life. It can be found in the Hobbies section of buy mode, in the creativity sub-category. Sims can sing, recite poetry, or perform stand-up comedy. Children can also use the microphone.
How well the Sim performs depends on how high his or her creativity skill is. Other Sims can watch and may boo or cheer. Using the microphone builds the creativity skill. Unlike other musical instruments, the audio and animation will remain the same regardless of skill level. If FreeTime is installed, reciting poetry also builds enthusiasm for the Film and Literature hobby, while singing builds enthusiasm for the Music and Dance hobby.
Sims who are not currently part of the actively played household cannot use the microphone, nor can they watch anybody using the microphone. A mod from Mod The Sims allows players to control autonomous interactions on the microphone, including allowing visitors to use the object.

The Sims 4[edit | edit source]
In The Sims 4, Sims can use a microphone to improve their comedy, singing[TS4:CL] or acting[TS4:GF] skills. Sims will get moodlets based on the quality of their performance. The reaction of the audience is similarly based on the performing Sim's skill level. Microphones can be found at pre-made bars and lounges.
