Mrs. Crumplebottom is an elderly NPC sim-woman featured in The Sims: Hot Date and The Sims 2: Nightlife. She is frequents Downtown lots in both games, and is usually considered an obstacle in the lives of Sims.

The Mrs. Crumplebottom from The Sims: Hot Date and The Sims 2: Nightlife are not actually the same Sim but distant relations.[1] It has been revealed that Agnes Crumplebottom was Miss Crumplebottom from The Sims: Hot Date.[2]

Personality

Mrs. Crumplebottom is a very old-fashioned, stern, and strict woman who appears to abide by a moral code from the Victorian Era. She detests when two Sims do any romantic interactions in public. When Mrs. Crumplebottom sees any of these actions taking place on a community lot, she will promptly scold the Sims, smack them, or beat them with her purse. If a Sim innocently wanders out in underwear or bathing suit, Mrs. Crumplebottom will lecture him/her until he/she changes back into his/her everyday clothes.

Dear old Mrs. Crumplebottom is also impossible to change. If one welcomes her into his home through use of cheats, namely Boolprop testingcheatsenabled, and try to use the Sim Modder, her behavior will not change in the least. Even with full niceness, she will still reprimand sims for showing affection, showing too much skin, or slacking off. It's really a waste of time to even try to fix her.

If the player has The Sims 2: Seasons Expansion Pack, if a Sim wishes for Romance into a wishing well, There is a 50% chance that Mrs. Crumplebottom will crawl out of the well and hit the Sim with her purse!

Appearance

Mrs. Crumplebottom almost always wears her signature outfit. This includes a long, straight, dress with a button-up overcoat, along with tight shoes, pearls, a pillbox-hat with a small daisy pinned on, a tight bun, and her large, dark purse. Her dress is a tan/cream color. Her hair is white/gray and is tied in a bun. In the original The Sims, she usually takes out an opera glasses from her purse to take a look at something. Her eyebrows always looked like she was angry all the time.

Distractions

She loves bowling more then she hates love, so romantic sims are safe in bowling alleys. She will play a game and never stop.

She also loves to drink; if a sim is working at a bar, she would be his best customer.

If the player has the Bon Voyage expansion pack installed in the game, a new character is introduced. The Unsavory Charlatan, a venturing scam artist, just seems to be attracted to sweet ol' Mrs. Crumplebottom and if both of these characters are in the same lot he will try to have his way with her and serenade the "sweet" old lady. Sometimes it will work or sometimes he'll end up being beat by one of Mrs. Crumplebottom's famous purse-whippings. These ridiculous interactions may give the player some time to finish up in the lot and head home to safety.

Also, if the player uses boolprop to load her into a lot, she will never leave. Mrs. Crumplebottom is possibly nothing but a decorative object, and the only way by deleting her is by force erroring her or deleting her with moveobjects. The player can use one of the distractions to make sure she doesn't pester his Sim!

Personal Life

One question that is often wondered by inquisitive simmers is "If her name is Mrs. Crumplebottom, then who was her husband?" There are many rumors around the community. It is possible that she was married to Robert Crumplebottom, a famous puppeteer and philanthropist in SimNation. During his Winter Charity Event, a chandelier dropped full two stories and ending his short, yet inspiring life. His demise seems to made Mrs. Crumplebottom very sad, and made her very, very cranky. She has a niece named Elmira Clamp.Which Mrs. Crumplebottom?[citation needed]
