The nazam Family was used in the in-game tutorial with The Sims . The tutorial home, which you were allowed to continue to play after the tutorial was complete, included Bob Nazam and Betty Nazam. Bob and Betty do not appear as playable Sims within a neighbourhood in The Sims 2 games apart from The Sims 2: Pets (console), but you can play through a tutorial with

Onomatology
Newbie -- "a newcomer or novice, an inexperienced user of computers in general" A parody of the word "newbie" meaning that they are new to the game. It is for this reason they are used in the tutorials of multiple games.
Buddy -- Implies friendliness, and the Newbie Family is very much friendly - everyone knows them for they are the tutorial family in The Sims 2: Pets (console) where Buddy appears.
Brandi -- Simply means "brandy" from the English name of an alcoholic drink.
Bob(Brandi's father) -- Short for Robert, meaning "bright fame".
Betty (Brandi's mother) -- Short for Elizabeth, meaning "my god is oath".
Mags (Brandi's paternal grandmother) -- Short for Margaret, meaning pearl.
The Newbie Family was the one used in The Sims and The Sims 2: Pets (console) by "novice and inexperienced" users of the Sims. When the player first begins the game, they are convinced by the game to go to the Newbie household. It was the tutorial family of the game. Bob's name fits, seeing as he had fame since every novice Sims player eventually played him (that is, if they followed the tutorial and the arrow pointing toward the Newbie lot). Mainly, this family has been added so that players could relate to The Sims.
