Caliente household vs. Caliente Family[edit source]

This discussion was resolved. The result of this discussion was:

Caliente family and Caliente household should not merge.

If you wish to restart this discussion, please post under a new subheading below.

Here's the basis of this discussion: The Caliente sisters Dina Caliente and Nina Caliente are present in The Sims 2 living together in the Caliente family. But, with the introduction of Barnacle Bay, Dina and Nina have been re-introduced, with a housemate - Luisa Libros. I created a new page for this household - named Caliente household - because the use of the term Caliente family is incorrect when referring to the Barnacle Bay instance of these Sims.

As far as I know, this exact situation; where a family/household's classification changes between games, has never occurred before. This is not like a situation where some families (like the Pleasant family, Landgraab family or Goth family) appear in multiple games, since in these situations, the inhabitants of the household are all members of the family to which their name refers; Luisa Libros of the Caliente household is not related to the other two. Therefore, we don't have much precedent to fall back on regarding this, meaning that I created the Caliente household article because, technically speaking, the household consisting of the Caliente sisters and Luisa Libros is the Caliente Household, not family.

Since we've never encountered this exact issue, what should we do about it? -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 05:21, September 24, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what to do now. I'd like to hear what others think before putting my own comment. [Ѧüя◎ґ]
Regardless of what's ultimately decided, for now, having a separate article for the TS3 household will make it easier to track information about that household as it becomes available, especially since the article for the TS2 family is already quite long. Also, it may be helpful to keep discussion of this household separate from discussion of the TS2 family, at least for the time being.
More information will come in as people download and play Barnacle Bay. We'll have to sort the wheat from the chaff, and I do expect more than a little chaff, but we can afford to wait. Dharden (talk) 15:01, September 24, 2010 (UTC)
I disagree with this merge. --- » Яσdяigσ X [̲̅т̲̅α̲̅l̲̅k̲̅][̲̅b̲̅l̲̅σ̲̅g̲̅] « 20:43, September 28, 2010 (UTC)

I disagree with merge because we have a lot of info in caliente family article and if we move the article it would be mess to relate the info, it is better the articles still in this way. I agree with LIR comment and Dharden's too.--Guilherme Guerreiro 15:36, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Precedence: Singles household, Green household. These two articles are of households where each roommate has a separate family article. --a_morris (talk) 21:08, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
As the excellent points are made by a_morris, Dharden, and LIR, we won't merge the two articles together. [Ѧüя◎ґ]

Well the articles should keep the way they are now, I agree with a_morris, we have a lot of articles about households with members of families, example: Singles household has members of Curious family, but we didn't merged the two articles because each roomate has a separate family's article, so why do this with Caliente household, note that LuisA Libros doesn't belong to the Caliente family? ---Guilherme Guerreiro 21:19, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Voting[edit source]

Do you agree or disagree with the following: The Caliente household page should merge with the Caliente family page. Voting began at 20:43 on September 28, 2010, and will end at 20:43 on October 12, 2010

  1. Read my comments above. --- » Яσdяigσ X [̲̅т̲̅α̲̅l̲̅k̲̅][̲̅b̲̅l̲̅σ̲̅g̲̅] « 20:43, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
  2. I created them as separate pages for the reasons listed above. I have not seen any constructive reason why they should not continue to be separate. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 20:56, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
  3. No because of the info we have about it. --Guilherme Guerreiro 15:36, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
  4. I disagree with the merge as the household represents an entity within the game that would not be represented by the Caliente family article alone. --a_morris (talk) 21:08, October 8, 2010 (UTC)
  5. No, because a household and family is not the same thing. --BobNewbie (talk)(blog) 17:34, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Split[edit source]

The households between Oasis Springs and Barnacle Bay should be split up. They're essentially composed of different household members and backstories. And unlike family pages, it's actually better if household pages are separated even if they have mutual likeness. Nikel Talk Vote! 15:31, October 3, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, it's a diff. universe, but even if it was not, Don Lothario is not in Barnacle Bay but in Riverwiew (in the TS3 version) and Katrina would be Nighat, and for Luisa Libros, we don't even know if she will ever be in TS4. Okay she could but she could easily not be. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 14:33, November 26, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not sure if I followed you. What does Don Lothario have to do with this? Nikel Talk Vote! 14:14, December 1, 2014 (UTC)
Don Lothario is in Riverwiew Lothario Family but also lives with Willow Creek Caliente Family. TS4 is Caliente + Lothario, well Katrina's maiden name would be al Mahmoud. TS3 is Caliente + Libros. It's no much different than the Roomies. There are the Jones-Smith Roomies from 1, the McGraw-Donner-Hatch-Sw0rd-Wainwright Roomies from 3, and the Patel-Huntington-Mitchell-Kalani Roomies from 4. The two Caliente households only share the Caliente sisters but they're conviving with members of different families. If in TS5 we get Cycl0n3, Emma, Blair, Chris and Melissa together in one household, and its called the Roomies household, it would be the same sims (counterparts) yes, but it would be a different Roomies Household that would require a different page. Kaiko Mikkusu (talk) 21:03, September 20, 2017 (UTC)
