New skin tones

There's seems to be one new skin tone in University Life, but I'm not sure if it will be included in the patch or not. Chances are it will, but updating this page can wait until the game is released, I guess. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:52, February 15, 2013 (UTC)

I've seen references to The Sims 3: Seasons making the skin tone used by aliens available in CAS. Dharden (talk) 13:45, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
You're right. I didn't think of alien skin tone before, but I didn't really notice if aliens have a new skin tone or if it's added in Seasons patch. This image to be exact, though. Nikel Talk Vote! 03:39, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
Well, if it's in the Seasons patch, I'd expect it to be in the EP as well, but I don't know if it'd necessarily be the other way around. Dharden (talk) 05:29, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
http://simsvip.com/game-guides/sims-3-seasons/ , scroll down to Create A Sim Features:New Skin Types. It really shows if you click through to the full-size pic. No idea if the screenshot is from a game w/Seasons, or if it's in the Seasons patch, or if it was carried forward from Seasons, and too late here to look, but it looks like the new tone is from Seasons, not UL. Dharden (talk) 05:43, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
I'll try to check it if it's the same skin as alien skin in my game or not. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that screenshot is taken with BG and UL only. So if alien skin is from a patch, then the skin isn't new. Nikel Talk Vote! 06:16, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not in a position to know what packs and patches a shot was taken with unless it's explicitly stated. However, if that shot was taken with just BG and UL, it implies that tones added in one patch are carried forward into later ones, since the Supernatural tones are there, and they are known to have been in the Supernatural patch. In any event, it looks like the tone was new in Seasons. Dharden (talk) 13:20, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
http://simsvip.com/2012/10/29/seasons-patch-1-42-new-features-options/ says that the new tone is in the Seasons patch, but I'm not sure what patch number 1.42 translates into. Dharden (talk) 14:14, February 16, 2013 (UTC)
So here's the alien skin tone in the game. Looks like the screencap in UL is too dark, and apparently they are the same skin tone. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:10, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
... or not. I can't really tell. University Life is only 2 weeks away, so it's not that long to seek the truth. The problem is the image itself, which I added in the UL page as well. Should I edit and remove the skintone one? Nikel Talk Vote! 14:15, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
For now, I'd say so, until we know for sure. Dharden (talk) 14:19, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
Done. I can't rearrange it any better, as it will always leave blank spaces anyhow. Nikel Talk Vote! 14:54, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

Painting of Will Wright

The painting in University YACAS really is Will Wright... I guess. It's a hidden painting, but there's a mod that unlocks it. Nikel Talk Vote! 11:28, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Dark-Blue and Blue Eyes

Personally I am at a bit of a loss as to why Sims with dark-blue eyes and Sims with blue eyes are not in seperate categories.C.Syde65 (talk) 08:35, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

It's a little hard to tell whether Sims have dark or light blue eyes or maybe in-between. In The Sims 2, it's possible to distinguish the eye colors but only with SimPE or SimDNA cheat, because it's very hard to tell if we only compare it with our memory. However, it's impossible in The Sims 3, since "dark blue" and "light blue" are based on the editor's perception, and thus, it's a subjective measure instead of objective. "Blue eyes" covers both shades, so it prevents error, albeit less accurate. There have been too many Sims in The Sims 2 using "blue" as the eyes instead of the specific color also, so it's gonna be a big change if we have to check each Sim one-by-one from start. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:22, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
I understand that. However for the Sims 2 Sims, on a close examination it isn't so hard. For the Sims 2 Sims it would be nice to put the Sims in different categories [dark-blue and light-blue].C.Syde65 (talk) 09:43, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
Then again, we'll still have the category of blue-eyed Sims for The Sims 3 Sims, which is redundant because we'll end up with 3 blue eyes categories.
Besides, there's countless of The Sims 2 Sims whose infobox says "blue eyes" instead of "dark blue eyes" or "light blue eyes". If we are to create different categories, where will the blue-eyed Sims belong to? Nikel Talk Vote! 09:55, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I know. But it can sometimes be a nuisance having to have the same category for all Sims with blue eyes.C.Syde65 (talk) 10:04, December 20, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah. Personally, I like being more specific myself. It's just that it's difficult to distinguish the two eye colors, and that the number of Sims who use "blue" eye color is too many... Nikel Talk Vote! 10:18, December 20, 2013 (UTC)

Broken Maxis face templates

It said that a fix was available for Sims with broken templates. Unless I'm very much mistaken, it means that you can make Sims use broken templates as other life stages (besides Adult) whilst being linked to the 'broken templates' and not the 2nd or 26th template.

Also a couple of times I made some serious editing on another computer in BodyShop with the 18th face template, but for some reason when I saved the new template, it was only linked to the 18th face for Adult males, for males of other life stages and females, it was linked to the 2nd face template. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:58, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, Argon just fixed templates 21 and 25 so that they will be properly linked for Sims generated in-game or created in CAS after the fix is installed. If any others are broken or breakable, I'd think that that was a separate issue. On the side, I didn't know that only #25 was linked to the elf-ears template (#26). Merging

Is it really okay to have the TS4 version of CAS to have its own page? Obviously, Create-a-Sim page has a TS4 section and still in a short on details. If that's okay, then we would give the other sections their own pages and add a short description in each of them in the Create-a-Sim page.

Also, we may know that before the release of TS4, there is a The Sims 4: Create-a-Sim Demo (or the other name aside from this). So, I may think that we might do something about that. ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 03:37, September 21, 2014 (UTC)

Yes. I really don't see why TS4 should have CAS page of its own. Why do we keep specializing TS4? I oppose this separation. Nikel Talk Vote! 06:01, September 21, 2014 (UTC)
A separate page might be useful for getting the text in shape, but once that is done, merge it into the main CAS page. Dharden (talk) 12:54, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
Merge I don't see why The Sims 4 needs its own special page. If that's the case then we may as well split The Sims 2 and 3 CAS into their own pages too, since they're all notable in their own way. I know it's the fourth game in the series (that seems to be seriously lacking IMO), but it's not "The Sims Ultimate Game" yet. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 12:58, September 22, 2014 (UTC)

I agree to merge those pages. Can you guys consider merge the 2 pages I made Cooking (The Sims 4) and Mixology (The Sims 4) to Cooking TS3 and Mixology. I make those 2 seperate cause they may not similar to others and may messing up the main pages. Xyclone010 (talk) 13:50, September 22, 2014 (UTC)

For all intents and purposes, the intro has been merged into the main article. Dharden (talk) 14:05, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
@Xyclone010: Why don't you start a discussion on those article's talk pages instead of this one? Since this talk page is for the Create a Sim article, not for other articles. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 15:04, September 22, 2014 (UTC)

Merged into Create a Sim. Left original page as a redirect, and performed a copy/paste merger of the talk pages. Original talk page history for Create a Sim (The Sims 4) is here. - LostInRiverview talk ~ blog 18:26, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
