Hello, everyone. I have added this article to this database because it seems that Mrs. Crumplebottom is a pominent character in HD and NL, so I thought she needed her own article. Add any additional info! M. H. Avril 2:41, 1 Apr. 2007(UTC)

I couldn't agree more

I think we need more pages like this- special NPCs. We need one for the penguin, evil mascot, social bunnies... one step at a time!

Whoever wrote this page is a genius!

PRUDNECE Crumplebottom

Said in article that Prudence Crumplebottom had no gravestone, could be her. I think highly likely as the name PRUDENCE

PRUDE- is what she is!

Anyone else see a connection here??

Prudence Crumplebottom's grave pic is greyed out. She is dead.

If NPC means "Non-Player Character" wouldn't babies be NPC's? -Mjs961 02:22 , 21,March 2009

Her Maiden Name

How can her father be George Crumplebottom? She should have a maiden name. Maybe it was Robert Crumplebottom's father. --Bayoubash 09:02, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry. I accidentley put down Crumplebottom. I checked on some website. Her parents are named Athena Marshall and George Marshall (nee` Kendall). She also has a son but he's a townie.

I made a minor edit .since we know she has a niece Elmira Clamp, but we do not know she has the maiden name Clamp. so i tookthje sentevne regarding her maiden name out . since it was confirmed to Agnes Crumplebottom. but since the game make Agnes and Mrs Crumplebottom seperate, should we say it is her middle name? I found something out. She has a son. It's Goopy GilsCarbo! User:Joethatblackguy

Wrong Template

Quote from Talk:Hula Zombies:

I don't think we should give the Hula Zombies a sim template. They're not really Sims. --KazeNoYouko 00:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Neither is Mrs. Crumplebottom. Besides, they are like real sims.Mjs961 PWNS! 02:48, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree that Hula Zombies don't need the sim template. Mrs. Crumplebottom will be a playable Sim in The Sims 3, so she should have one. --a_morris (talk) 15:53, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If the Hula Zombies got their template changed because they were not real sims, shouldn't Mrs. Crumplebottom's template be changed too? The game treats her as an object.

If NPC means "Non-Player Controlled" wouldn't babies be NPC's? -Mjs961 02:20, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Of course not, babies are a part of a family. NPC's are invisible. They live somewhere unknown in the game. They just roam around the town. Babies are not controlled because they don't do much. --Bayoubash 06:22, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Mrs/Ms. Crumplebottom vs Agnes Crumplebottom

I may don't know anything about The Sims 3 but it itches me so to say that Agnes and Mrs. C are two different people! I mean why would Maxis create Agnes as the Hot Date Mrs. C and make Mrs. C in Nightlife some other woman. Her name is Prudence, not Agnes. Mrs. C married Robert Crumplebottom, and then he died. She hated love since then and took the "Miss" in Hot Date. Then she changed it to Mrs. There is no reason why this "distant relative" hates love. This is the way I think it, I maybe wrong since I don't know anything but this is how I think it is. Maybe we should ask Will Wright. Darn he moved from The Sims to Spore. I'm going crazy!!! --Bayoubash 13:37, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Please leave information about Agnes Crumplebottom out of this article and especially out of the infobox as it was not meant to contain information from two Sims. Apparently it has been confirmed that they are one and the same, (though I could not find a source that did not reference here), however they are treated differently in The Sims and The Sims 2 and should have separate pages that are kept separate. --a_morris (talk) 21:26, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Miss Crumplebottom appears in Sims 1. She wears a long, straight, dress with a button-up overcoat, along with tight shoes, pearls, a pillbox-hat with a small flower-patterned pin, a tight bun, and her large, dark purse. Her dress is grey colored (Unlike Mrs. Crumplebottom's dress, which is tanned cream colored). Her hair is grey and is always tied in a very tight bun. She's best friends with her sister Cornelia Goth. The main history about her is that her husband dies, leaving her bitter and rude, no sense of Romance left in her. He haunted her house and chased off any visitors that came to visit her or might start a relationship with her.

They are not the same people and Mrs.Crumplebottom i believe is not related to Agnes or any of her family. Her name just happens to be Crumplebottom. I say they are'nt related because her name goes with her actions when ever someone does something that erks her she gets her Bottom in a Crumple thats why they gave her that name to confuse you. There are alot of sims with names that matches their: actions, clothing, or personality for instance, in strangetown when going to 88 road to nowhere (a clothing store) there is a cashier name Haber Das which means someone who sells clothing and goods and old fashion clothing. So maybe Mrs.Crumplebottom's name goes with her feelings. And Agnes can't be Mrs.Crumplebottom because when SimPE is used Mrs.Crumplebottom's name is said to be Missy Crumplebottom Maybe Missy is Agnes's daughter because Missy is younger than Agnes, though she Mrs. as if she was married to someone with the Crumplebottom name hmmm, Or Maybe Agnes's second husband Robert got married to Mrs.Crumplebottom before her. How to get Mrs. Crumplebottom and her husband back together (sims 3 only!) NO CHEATS!

I got Mrs Crumplebottom and her husband back together in the sims 3. heres how: First you make a random sim and get them to move in with Mrs. Crumplebottom and then you kill the random sim. After about a day you get a opportunity called "Oh my ghost!" it tells you to take the remains of the dead sim to the science lab for some "testing". Instead of taking the dead sims tombstone take Mrs Crumplebottom's husband's to the science lab. When she comes out there will be a fully controllable ghost version of Mrs Curumplebottoms husband in your family! They can even have kids!

Thanks for the tip! This has been added to Resurrecting tips. --a_morris (talk) 15:22, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

She's Very Old

Don't you think it's strange she's so old? Because her niece has a nephew before The Sims 3, she's most likely an elder (or very late in her adult life), yet she's still alive 50 years later? She'd be 100 or so, easy! UBFunkaneer 03:39, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

There were some strange ageing effects in TS3 compared to TS2 such as Mortimer Goth (elder in TS2) being one day older than Bella Goth (adult in TS2). It is impossible given Mortimer didn't start TS2 at the beginning of the elder life stage. GEORGIEGIBBONS 18:09, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

I think I have an answer to that. Bella was abducted by aliens, which was in her case, was like dying. She does have the I Am Dead token, after all. Sims do not age after death. (Look at Opal Suarley if you need proof)UBFunkaneer 16:01, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Actually she is not old at all in TS2 when SimPE is used Adult is checked out not Elder so she is actually an Adult and when making her Selectable you can have a baby with her even Females can because when SimPE is used Male is checked out not Female so she is actually a mixed up character she's an Elder that can do Adult things. The Sims 3 Late Night

Someone put in Mrs. page that she will return in Late Night, can someone please confirm this because it has no reference, so we don't know if that is fanon or not. Guilherme Guerreiro 21:09, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

There's certainly a reference to it, though we won't know if it's true. The other facts display in the source are true though. We have no reason to distrust that site, so let's keep the info. --Duskeytalk 10:24, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Mrs. Crumplebottom in Sims Generations?

This mad lady doesn't have the same look as the previous Mrs. Crumplebottom. But it somewhat has the same moves see in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hajq1nwsAM&feature=channel_video_title and is mostly seen in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR1Fl8DBOqg

Even top rated comment thinks so too: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7951/screenhunter01may280949.png

No, that's probably a personal opinion, she isn't Mrs. Crumplebottom for sure and the old lady seen may even not come with the game, considering it's sepculated that Generation won't bring a new neighborhood (sigh). --Guilherme Guerreiro (talk here) 08:55, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

NPC as an Object in The Sims 2

It has been stated many times that a number of special NPCs are "objects" instead of people characters. My understanding is that people, pets, chest of drawers or doors are all objects of different types. They run code that makes them update themselves in reaction to other events. Type changes the way an object is treated by the engine at a lower level; I think it enables people to walk, cars to float by, causes controllers to be always spawned. She is a sim by this definition.

The main difference between a "special" and regular sim is where its data resides. Regular people are created as copies at first launch or whenever the neighborhood is first created, and reside in the My Documents directory. This copy is then updated as the sim changes clothing or another state. Not all updates are visually apparent. The character file is usually modified every time a sim object is uninstantiated (removed, left the lot, not killed). A number of special NPCs are directly loaded from the most recent objects.package, which resides in the game directory and is common to all neighborhoods. One must therefore avoid that these special sims getting modified, because any changes to the NPC would persist until the game is reinstalled, and also the objects.package is quite big and an error might occur as its being written, which would make the game unable to start.

An update to objects.package can be detected by a pause of several seconds during interaction with the special NPC, and by comparing the modification date and size of objects.package against one on game disc inside the compressed zip file or another (patched) installation.

What a sim does, such as if it would change its behavior depending on the Nice personality, run Vampire animations, or what actions can be called from its menu, is determined by its code, which is taken from a template (common to all people, another one is there for pets) or written exclusively for a type of NPC. What code an object runs is not determined by where its data is located. There are a few NPCs that do not react to the surrounding world, such as Stylists at Makeover Chairs, whose data is still in character files.

Meeting and developing a relationship with Crumplebottom is occasionally possible at a Poker Table. Relationships are part of the neighborhood.

I don't think Crumplebottom can receive a Vampyre bite at all in later expansion packs.

Incosistencies in her age and personality are present because those parts of her character were never filled in because they were not supposed to be seen.

IDEA: Perhaps the red warning box on the pages of all affected NPCs should link to an article providing this explanation.

Showers

Crumplebottom has one more odd behavior that requires no cheats or placement of new objects to demonstrate. She will pull people out from Showers, because they are technically naked at that time, even if she can't see or reach the shower in question. The park with the swimming pool has showers and they are not usable if Crumplebottom is around.

The obvious fact is that she is "dumb" (doesn't check for distance or visibility of the shower). EAxis obviously think its good humour, as they also make people yell and stomp their feet for no apparent reason when other objects can't be reached, a doorbell wake up people all around the house, etc, etc.

Avoiding / Removal

The best way of removing Crumplebottom is to avoid her being created on lot (action 6 in your wiki). The best possible mod doing it would change the lot processing function "Main - Downtown - EP2", and conflict only with other mods that restrict the appearance of other NPC visitors (Gypsy, Pickpocket). One could also write a more intelligent code for her, which would preserve her in the game universe, but I haven't seen a mod containing that.

Unsavory Charlatan

How does one bring them both on the same lot? As far as I am aware, the Charlatan does not go downtown, and Crumplebottom does not appear outside of it (FreeTime). Are they allowed to meet in a specific game Version (EP)?

Crumplebottom vs. CrumpleBottom

Maybe an interesting note, but in The Sims 2 she is referred as Mrs. CrumpleBottom and not as Crumplebottom. Should this be changed or is this not bothering anyone? Tiezel (talk) 20:03, January 12, 2013 (UTC)

So I guess this isn't bothering anyone..? xD Tiezel (talk) 20:50, January 23, 2013 (UTC)
I've never really noticed this subtle difference. In what instance is she called CrumpleBottom? Nikel Talk Vote! 04:34, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
In-game. Also in SimPE you can find this ofcourse. (that's how I discovered it) Tiezel (talk) 18:52, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
Hey, that's interesting! Hmm, I suppose we could rename it, and I hope it wouldn't be too controversial. Now, I wonder if the rest of CrumpleBottoms in Pleasantview also has the capital letter. I'll check it out. Nikel Talk Vote! 03:56, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Just checked. They have the lowercase "b". Talk about inconsistency... Nikel Talk Vote! 04:03, January 25, 2013 (UTC)

Yes I saw that too. How is that in The Sims or The Sims 3? are they called Crumplebottom or CrumpleBottom? Can someone check this out? Tiezel (talk) 10:29, February 17, 2013 (UTC)

It has been explained right above your comment: it's lowercase b in The Sims 3... --- ʀodrigo x (talk)(contribs) 11:36, February 17, 2013 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that was about the Crumplebottoms in The Sims 2. Tiezel (talk) 11:43, February 17, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I was talking about Pleasantview Crumplebottoms. And guess what? They also use lowercase "b" in Sunset Valley... Sigh. Now I'm wondering about Miss Crumplebottom? Nikel Talk Vote! 17:31, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
