Tense is an emotion available in The Sims 4. It occurs when a Sim engages in mentally frustrating tasks. Ambitious Sims may become Tense if not promoted. Overworked Sims tend to become Tense. A Sim with this emotion can progress to feeling very tense, and Sims feeling very tense can become stressed.

Supportive Traits

These traits affect how often a Sim is tense.

  • Geek (Hobby Trait): Geeks will become Tense if they go too long without playing video games.
  • Ambitious (Lifestyle Trait): Ambitious Sims will become Tense if they go too long without being promoted.
  • Lazy (Lifestyle Trait): Lazy Sims will become Tense when performing household chores.
  • Hates Children (Social Trait): Sims who Hate Children will become Tense after performing the Try for Baby interaction.

Object Auras

These are items found, bought, or earned in the game that can emit a tense aura in the area around the object. You can choose to enable or disable the aura at any time. Once enabled, a Sim can interact with the object, through viewing or using it, and they will earn a +# tense moodlet. Whether their mood changes to tense or not depends on the other moodlets affecting the Sim at that time.

Careers and Jobs

Sims with these jobs or careers will gain work performance if they go to work while tense.
