The Sims Wiki:Requests for administratorship/C.Syde65 (October 2015)

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by imported>K6ka at 17:32, 18 October 2015. The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

I, OoppDecks nominate C.Syde65 for administrative rights. His last nomination was in February and was declined, but I feel that C.Syde has made a significant positive impact on this Wiki over nearly two years and almost 15,000 constructive edits. C.Syde has exhibited consistently good behaviour for a long period of time and I feel that he has matured since his last nomination was declined. Øôppdëckš 20:23, October 17, 2015 (UTC)

The nomination is valid and the nominee is eligible for promotion. Discussion can begin if/when the nominee agrees to the nomination. -- LostInRiverview ( Administrator)Contact me here • 22:28, October 17, 2015 (UTC)
I humbly accept this nomination, and thanks for nominating me. It has been a pleasure to serve this wiki as an editor and roll-backer for over a year. It would be an honour to serve this wiki as an administrator as well.
As I already have experience and knowledge of how the administrator tools work, when to use them, and when not to use them, I have full confidence that I am able to step into this role, and I will never abuse it for my own personal gain, or for any other reason. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:11, October 18, 2015 (UTC)

-- Strong support Since his previous nomination, I also feel he really grew over things. Such as he let go the ILS case. C.Syde is an active and helpful contributor to the Wiki, and has made many constructive edits, as well being very dedicated and respects the rules. He is already a rollback, and became featured editor twice. On his own wiki, I have witnessed that he has almost fully knowledge of mediawiki and jss. He knows how to build up a Wiki, and to run it properly. So he knows how to be a good administrator on The Sims Wiki. That means he already knows the ropes of administratorship. So if he becomes an administrator, it would be a good experience for him and has a great potential, so he will learn the ropes quick. He deserves it. Support I agree with Sims2Player in that this user has improved drastically in the way he contributes to this wiki, as well as the way in which he deals with certain matters (for example the ILS5 case). C.Syde is fantastically active and helpful, and isn't afraid to speak his mind where appropriate. Having had significant experience on The Sims Wiki, and wiki-ing in general, C.Syde is one of whom I would consider to be the senior membership of the wiki. Thus, I would honoured to work alongside him as a fellow administrator here on The Sims Wiki. — The Tim Man (TSWAHMGWContribs) 09:39, October 18, 2015 (UTC)

Oppose Now it pains me to say it, but I disagree with the claims that the candidate has learned to "let go" of the ILS5 case, because they haven't according to their wiki (CSyde's Wiki). According to [1] the candidate was seen giving Chat moderator, thread moderator, rollback, and "assistant" user rights to ILS5 socks, and even explicitly declared the connection between EPICSIMSPLAYER and ILS5. This was done just two months ago, and C.Syde still has not learned from the ILS5 case to ignore the user. Promoting them to rollback on your test wiki is not ignoring them. --I am k6ka Talk to me! -- Comment K6ka, let me explain the story. You know when EPICSIMSPLAYER got hacked? EPIC was an admin on C.Syde's Wiki so she could gain some experience. When EPIC got blocked, all her fanons got deleted. C.Syde was so nice to store them on his Wiki. He still wanted to communicate with her, so he gave rights to her other account. It hasn't got anything to do with ILS19 or anything. He just wanted to give EPIC her rights back on HIS test wiki, so she could continue practicing. I don't know if there is anything wrong about that. Sims   Player (talk) (mistakes) 12:47, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
That doesn't address the reason why I opposed. If a user has been effectively blocked and banned by the community, and has been creating sock puppet accounts to evade said block, they should not all of a sudden be granted administrator abilities on another wiki. To put it simply, revert, block, ignore. It makes no sense that an administrator suddenly starts befriending a user that has been blocked by the community. An administrator should not be helping or befriending trolls or socks. Period. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 14:22, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
You get it wrong. ILS5 is NOT like ILS19. ILS5 is a young user that created socks to evade their blocks. But you don't know how she really is. She was 11 at that time, and she is sorry. She is not a troll, just a misunderstood person. She is not a troll, she had to learn. That's the main reason C.Syde befriended her, she had no evil plans, like ILS19 has. She was only young and didn't knew how Wikia worked. C.Syde became sort of her mentor to learn her the ropes. I have respect for C.Syde because he wanted to learn a user with a bad reputation HOW to use wikia properly, because he knew she had no bad intentions. Most admins would've virtually pushed her away. Support—I will get into why I'm landing on this side of the promotion in a second, but first I'd like to weigh in on the ILS5 issue that is currently being debated.
First, while I try to do this as little as possible, I must say here and now that I am not supportive of K6ka's response towards what has been an internal matter to the C.Syde Wiki, and the handling of the ILS5 matter in general. We blocked ILS5 from The Sims Wiki, but that does not mean that all other editors on TSW must ignore her or shun her everywhere else. It is ultimately not our right to dictate what he is allowed to do elsewhere. C.Syde has actually been warned in the past for this behavior; upon reflection, I believe those warnings were not issued in good faith, but were instead issued out of anger that he was "getting involved" in a conflict that we admins had wanted to control personally and end as quickly as possible. But the final nail in the coffin of this ILS5 conflict, so to speak, is the fact that she has stopped making sockpuppets. If the hypothesis is true, that interacting with her will push her into continuing to circumvent the rules and create new socks, then C.Syde's continued interactions with her on his wiki should have brought her back to TSW, but it didn't. I think it's time for the admin team here to admit when they have been wrong this user. I will say, on my own part, that I have misjudged this situation in the past. I made a mistake.
We all make mistakes, and C.Syde is no exception. He has a long history on The Sims Wiki, and not all the decisions he has made have been good ones. But he has owned up to any past mistakes he has made, and he is a much better editor now than he ever was. He is more than ready to take on this responsibility. He has shown that he can be level-headed, responsible, kind to users, knowledgeable about The Sims and about editing wikis, and that he can assume good faith, even when the more embittered users like myself find difficulty in doing that. He has my strong support for this nomination. -- LiR talkblogcontribs 14:45, October 18, 2015 (UTC)

-- Weak Support: The way I see it, he has shown some improvement with his behaviour. I'm not a fan of his relationship with this very annoying former sockpuppet but as LiR stated, their relationship is not on TSW but in the land of "C.Syde65" and his own test wiki. As long as, and I cannot stress this enough, C.Syde doesn't attempt to unblock any of ILS5's accounts on this wiki, I'm good. Please remember this; before jumping into a situation/dispute between two users, or even just one user, please consult another administrator. Your biggest issue is with teamwork, and yes, it has improved, but it could be improved way more. I am weakly supporting this nomination. ~ Beds (talk - blog) 15:36, October 18, 2015 (UTC)

-- Weak Support: I agree with Beds on each point. C.Syde has shown some improvement in relations with situations as they come up. To me that shows that he is willing and able to learn from past experiences. And it isn't in dispute that he is a very able editor because it is obvious to me that he is. The only reason I give a weak support is because he has shown that he can sometimes act with too much haste and not enough consideration. So while I am not exactly against him becoming an admin, I know that I will keep a close watch to give any support (or anything else that is needed) if he were to be come one. -- Icemandeaf (talk) 15:50, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
@Sims2Player: I don't know why you kept pushing ILS19 down my throat when my oppose statement didn't even mention said party in question. This is not about ILS19, and I never even mentioned them. My oppose statement focused solely on the ILS5 incident, and not about ILS19. --I am k6ka Talk to me! See what I have done 17:32, October 18, 2015 (UTC)
