[[File:Pros and Cons of Merging with Fanon Wiki.jpg|thumb|250px|Davidmc's take on the pros and cons of merging.]]
Ok, after you hear this, I know that some of you may think that I am crazy, but I think we should merge [[w:c:simsfanon|The Sims Fanon Wiki]] with The Sims Wiki. Hear me out, at the [[w:c:avatar|Avatar wiki]], they have merged their fanon wiki with the main one. While this was initially a controversial move, they claim that it paid off, because their wiki has many more contributors and visitors, making it much more active. I think we should merge these two wikis because with [[The Sims 3: Ambitions]] coming out in June, we will need to make our wiki known to people, preferably before the release. Another reason is that I have noticed that the activity of the fanon wiki went down for a while. What better way to bring the activity back up than merge it with a more popular wiki? Thank you for listening to this and please tell me what you think. --[[User:Random Ranaun|Random Ranaun]] 03:05, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

I hear your reasoning. I support the merging of the 2 wikis! [[User:ArchieAndrewfan3001|Archie]] 03:08, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
__TOC__

I don't think that would be a very good idea. I think because there would be loads more of vandalism, but I'm just an IP so what do I know? :) [[Special:Contributions/74.216.88.170|74.216.88.170]] 03:10, April 5, 2010 (UTC)
== Policy on Writing and Editing [[Player stories]] ==

I'm assuming there was a reason for creating a separate wiki for fanon. Has that reason gone away? Will it come back if the two are combined? If the two are combined, I'd think there would have to be some way to "mark" fanon as such. How will that be handled? I'm not categorically against a merger, but I'm also not sure it's all that great of an idea. [[User:Dharden|Dharden]] 14:30, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
I would like to introduce some policy on writing and editing [[Player stories]]. Should the player stories submitted be left as-is or edited? Anything inappropriate or that contradicts existing policy should be removed immediately of course. But a lot of the stories have misspellings, bad grammar, etc. I think we need some guidelines on how much we (the editors) are allowed to edit, yet still resemble the personal style of the writer, which is the whole point of having these sections.

:There were two reasons for creating a separate wiki. One Dharden mentioned, the need to mark or keep separate premade content from custom content. The second was whether an editor had the right to change something that someone else had written given that player stories are creative rather than encyclopedic. I had a [[The Sims Wiki talk:Community Portal/Archive 1#Policy on Writing and Editing Player stories|brief discussion]] with a former admin. At the time I was pretty much the only one on, I didn't want to spend all my time fixing the spelling and grammar of everyone's story and decided to move the stories to subpages. At this point, I concede that merging might be a good idea. It would also make the discussion on [[The Sims Wiki talk:Project Downloads and custom content#What downloads and custom content should be included?|what downloads and custom content should be included]] moot. --[[User:A_morris|a_morris]] <small>([[User_talk:A_morris|talk]])</small> 03:05, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
Points to consider:
I do have my concerns about increased vandalism, but, it would seem good for the community. [[User:A.P. Freeman|Author]] 03:12, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
* How long should a story be?
** We don't want them to write a novel. I suggest one paragraph, 3 to 5 sentences.
* Should links to other premade Sims be included if mentioned
** I don't really care, but it would mean a lot of editing
* Spelling & Grammar
** I think this should be corrected
* User tags, signatures, etc.
** I think these should be kept
* Personal opinions
** I think these should be kept

:I personally believe the two wikis should stay divided. There must be a reason why they were made into 2 different wikis, after all! [[User:Bleeh|Bleeh]] ([[w:c:Sims:User talk:Bleeh|talk]]) 22:40, April 28, 2010 (UTC)
Any other suggestions?

I hate to jump back onto this Wiki after being so inactive for so long to voice my opinion, but I actually don't think this is a bad idea. My reasoning:
-- [[User:A morris|A morris]] 00:22, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
1) If I remember correctly, fans do come here and do post fan material that then needs to be moved and/or deleted by admins. Merging the two wikis makes this no longer necessary, and encourages game fans to visit and enrich themselves in knowledge of the game while posting their own content.
2) Merging the two allows the new merged wiki to capitalize on the visitors to both, increasing the number of visitors, number of editors, and number of active members.
3) Merging the two makes it easier for a visitor to find information both on the game and on fan material in one location.

Additionally, even if the two were created intentionally separate, that's not necessarily a good enough reason to keep it that way. Just as there is no point in needless change, there is no point in maintaining the status quo if doing so is detrimental. It's up to the best judgment of the Admins and members here (and on the other wiki) to determine whether or not the status quo is detrimental or not - I hesitate to say that it is, though I still support their combination.
:I think that's a great idea. Before I had an idea that the player stories be put on the talk pages but it would require a lot of work. However with the user tags and signatures I believe that they should put <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki> after their player story whether they are a anonymous user or not. If a player links to other pre made sims that should be okay to. On the idea that if it was on a talk page we wouldn't have the problem of bad spelling and grammar on the actual informational part of the page. --[[User:Makiah|<font color="red">Makiah</font>]] [[User talk:Makiah|<small><font color="red">(talk)</font></small>]] 16:19, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
::I think moving the player stories to the talk page is a good idea. [[User:A morris|A morris]] 19:40, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
:::I've started moving some stories to their talk page. I moved a ''really'' long story from [[Consort Capp]]'s page. I left the others with a note to see the talk page for more. -- [[User:A morris|A morris]] 14:31, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
:I had another idea. That of placing the player stories on a subpage of the character's page, ex. [[Bella Goth/player stories]]. That way the stories are on their own page and can even be placed in a "Player stories" category. The {{[[Template:Sim|Sim]]}} can be edited to automatically link to the subpage as well. [[User:A morris|-- a_morris]] 02:21, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
::Over the next couple of days I'm going to be updating the {{[[Template:Sims|Sim]]}} to incorporate the idea stated in an earlier message as well as some other things. Because of this many of the Sims pages will require some editing but will hopefully make the template easier to use. [[User:A morris|-- a_morris]] 14:10, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

That's just my $0.02 though. [[User:LostInRiverview|LostInRiverview]] 23:31, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
== Missing premade families ==

:I actually never thought of those possibilities. Though, if users did add info about their own characters, there would need to be a way for other users to be able to distinguish whether or not it's a Sim that's made by Maxis. There would need to be a category, or something, which I'm sure most new-comers to the wiki wouldn't add, since Wikia is confusing enough. [[User:Bleeh|Bleeh]] ([[w:c:Sims:User talk:Bleeh|talk]]) 23:37, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
Where are the families from the colleges, like Roxie Sharp and the sorority girls and such? They are still kind of a premade family, I think they should be included.
:Good idea! Why don't you write them? Also, adding links to the characters from their neighborhoods, would be good. [[User:A morris|-- a_morris]] 20:59, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

::Well, I'm not saying it wouldn't be complicated. That's why it's important to determine whether the changes are needed or desired enough to justify upsetting the status quo. [[User:LostInRiverview|LostInRiverview]] 21:14, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
== Characters of Pleasant Valley ==

::::C'mon people! We need to vote! We've had 16 people vote, but, no results! [[User:ArchieAndrewfan3001|Archie]] 23:56, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
There is "no trustworthy" link that cites the characters of The Sims 3 and should be confirmed by EA or The Sims 3. That information is speculation thus making it misleading and should be deleted! I'm going to delete it if someone else doesn't create a new article which says 'Speculation on The Sims 3' and put that worthless infomation in it.

I will begin the official vote, according to our [[The Sims Wiki:Policy#|voting procedure]], on May 1 and put an announcement on the main page. In the event of a tie, we will keep things the same, i.e. stay divided.
The title in the article with most of the speculation in it is 'Neighborhood Continuity'

Should the "We combine" option prevail, it will be followed by a discussion/vote to determine how to add the new content and the merging will begin upon its conclusion and any maintenance tasks required (ex. creating templates, etc.) Any new content may be left until a decision is made. --[[User:A_morris|a_morris]] <small>([[User_talk:A_morris|talk]])</small> 14:01, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
F.Y.I. when questions were mentioned to The Sims 3 in relation to characters they typically responded with petty answers and could not confirm anything buy they did say "we're giving the game a fresh start,a new leap, in hopes for the sucess of the title"

:So then, if a user makes a page about a fanon Sim, we just let it stay in the wiki until the voting is over? Or would we move it to the user namespace? If it's the first, then how would we remember to move it to the user namespace if the wikis stay divided? [[User:Bleeh|Bleeh]] ([[w:c:Sims:User talk:Bleeh|talk]]) 20:49, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Mrs. Crumblebottom is the only character confirmed in the game as of 22/7/08 - not nesseceraly meaning shes the only one lead onto this title but is confirmed.
::No. After the first vote, if we are going to combine, only then will fanon pages be left as is until we decide how to deal with them. For now and if we decide to stay divided, fanon pages should be moved to the user namespace, as usual. --[[User:A_morris|a_morris]] <small>([[User_talk:A_morris|talk]])</small> 23:15, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

FYI - [[w:c:user:TamBams219|TamBams219]] has [http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Adoption#The_Sims_Fanon_Wiki_.28on_hold.29 requested to adopt The Sims Fanon Wiki]. This may have an impact on whether we will be allowed to merge the two wikis. --[[User:A_morris|a_morris]] <small>([[User_talk:A_morris|talk]])</small> 00:14, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
:You are right that speculation about [[The Sims 2]] characters should not be included in the article. It has been removed. You must be a bit lenient as the game is still under developement and we have placed a disclaimer at the top of the page to that effect. Any cites and additional information you have about [[The Sims 3]] is greatly appreciated. [[User:A morris|-- a_morris]] 00:05, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

* At the present moment, I am mulling my thoughts over. I'm kind of thinking a merger would not be the worst thing. The Sims Wiki has a much more structured and, clean lay out. Of course given the time, I feel that I could equally make the Fanon Wiki just as efficent. Another plus, the fan fiction people make/compose would reach a wider audience if merged. It's a toguh decision... [[User:TamBams219|TamBams219]] 02:21, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

* I'm totally agains't it! Why did we make players stories after all?![[User:AGuyCalledJoe|AGuyCalledJoe]] 14:59, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

:I can't see merging being a disaster, but I can see it being a damn pain without extremely well-laid guidelines, and possibly even with them. There needs to be more than just a category or two from fanon if the merger takes place, there needs to be clear signalling so that we can see from every link and every page whether it is fanon or Maxis/EA canon. Keeping the two separate but working out a clearer agreement or wider cross-culture some other way seems infinitely preferable. This place has potential. That (alongside the fact that I've been housebound a bit lately) are the reasons I've made so many edits here. This is already a premium site for canonical information about the Sims, and that's a great specialty that I'd like to help realise. Approach the likes of Delphy, and get more traffic flowing between this site and MTS. Get the pages really informative so that people know this is the place they can come to see a list of every lot in Sunset Valley, or a list of all the starters. Useful info like that made easily accessible. The site is already most of the way there. A fanon merger will only - I suspect - detract from the canon. People will be here for their own stories, and not for The Sims series so much. ([[User:Kiwi tea|Kiwi tea]] 17:14, May 2, 2010 (UTC))

The Sims Wiki and The Sims Fanon Wiki should merge.
== Ghosts of of Goth House TS1 ==
Grandpa, grandma, auntie, uncle, cousin, vegas, bratty & boy? Who are those people that was buried in the Goth home in Neighborhood 1? If anyone knows, please tell me.

Voting is closed.
==What's the deal with half-siblings in TS2?==
In TS2, the Curious brothers are not shown as related to Lola and Chloe Singles, even though they share a father, Glarn Curious. But in another neighborhood, this one Sim fathered children with four other womenn, and I moved all of the women and their children together and the children showed the other children as their family. They too share a father. Do they have to know eachother to show their half siblings as family? Or did Maxis intend for the Curiouses and tLola and Chloe not to be related? -donlothariomustDIE

== New [[Template:Sim|Sim Template]] ==

=== Agree ===
I've made some changes to the [[Template:Sim|Sim Template]], putting more code into the template instead of having the user enter it, adding optional parameters, etc. This has, however, caused some problems on pages that uses the old template, mostly extra code around images and category markup appearing at the top of the article. If you see a page like that, please remove the extra markup <nowiki>(i.e. "[[", "]]", "[[Image:", etc.)</nowiki>. Categories can also be removed for sex, aspiration, sign, age and neighborhood as they are now part of the template but they will not sort properly without <code><nowiki>{{DEFAULTSORT:last name, first name}}</nowiki></code>, so that should be left on or added to the page.

== help updating the sims 2 cheats page ==

It was 12 agree and 12 disagree get the neutral to decide whether he agrees or disagrees and then make the desision
the sims 2 README has a list of most cheats; (the ones they intended players to use) however i do not know how to properly format the text. i also do not know what cheats they didn't include, other than the testing cheat (the one that acivates shift click functions). :

The Sims 2 Apartment Life Cheats:
-------------------------------
(The Sims 2 Apartment Life Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

changelotzoning [residential | community | apartmentbase]
This changes the zoning type of the lot. Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like to rezone, and then enter the cheat, choosing one of these zoning options.

Note that zoning a beach lot into an apartment lot will severely corrupt the ocean and lot terrain and is strongly not recommended.

printLotClass
This prints the lot's class (low, middle, or high) as well as the corresponding numerical lot class value.

changeLotClassification [low | middle | high]
This changes the lot classification of the lot. The lot will remain this classification until the following cheat is used.

clearLotClassValue
This clears any "changeLotClassification" cheat used on the lot and sets the lot class to the correct calculated value.

The Sims 2 FreeTime Cheats:
-------------------------------
(The Sims 2 FreeTime Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

modifyNeighborhoodTerrain [on | off]
This allows you to alter the neighborhood terrain by raising or lowering it. To use this cheat, be in the neighborhood view, then enter the cheat "modifyNeighborhoodTerrain on" (without the quotation marks), and click over the area you would like to change. To select a larger area, click and drag the cursor to highlight the desired area. Press [ or ] to raise or lower the terrain by one click and press \ to level the terrain. When you're finished, type “modifyNeighborhoodTerrain off” in the cheat box (again, without the quotations).

The Sims 2 Bon Voyage Cheats:
-------------------------------
(The Sims 2 Bon Voyage Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

changelotzoning [residential | community | hotel]
This changes the zoning type of the lot. Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like to rezone, and then enter the cheat, choosing one of these zoning options.

The Sims 2 Seasons Cheats:
-------------------------------
(The Sims 2 Seasons Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

bugJarTimeDecay [on|off]
Should you catch any fireflies in a jar, enabling this cheat will make them live forever! (makes for alluring lighting!)

The Sims 2 Pets Cheats:
-------------------------------
(The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

For pets:
boolProp petActionCancel [true/false] - makes pet actions cancellable

Build mode:
deleteAllFences -This deletes all fences on your lot
deleteAllWalls -This deletes all walls on your lot
deleteAllAwnings -This deletes all awnings on your lot
deleteAllObjects [Doors/Windows/Stairs] -This deletes all doors, windows, and stairs on your lot
deleteAllHalfWalls -This deletes all half walls on your lot

The Sims 2 Open for Business Cheats:
--------------------------------------------
(The Sims 2 Open for Business Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

AddneighbortoFamilycheat [on/off]
It enables an interaction on non-controllable Sims to add them to your family

Forcetwins
When a Sim is pregnant, this Sim has to be selected and the cheat entered. The Sim will automatically deliver twins.

Plumbbobtoggle [on/off]
This disables the plumbbob. (Great for Moviemakers)

Wall Placement Restrictions Removed Cheat
-Pressing the CTRL + ALT keys while trying to place the object will activate the cheat.
-Placement rules on walls will be removed. You will be able to place any wall object on a wall already occupied by another object.

The Sims 2 Nightlife Cheats:

nhdregiontype desert
nhdregiontype concrete

The Sims 2 University Cheats:
-----------------------------
(The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack is required for these cheats)

changeLotZoning [residential | community | greek | dorm | secretsociety]: changes the zoning type of the lot. Before rezoning a lot using this cheat, make sure there are no Sims currently living in the lot. To use this cheat, enter the lot that you would like to rezone, and then enter the cheat, choosing one of these zoning options.

boolProp dormSpecificToolsDisabled true/false: enables build/buy mode tools that would normally be disabled when in a dorm lot.

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true/false: allows users to rotate any object in 45 degree increments instead of the 90 degree increments used for most objects.

The Sims 2 Cheats:
------------------
help: lists all the cheats in the game.

help [cheatname]: displays specific information about the cheat.

exit: closes the cheat window.

expand: expands or contracts the cheat window.

moveObjects on/off: removes footprint limitation for all object placement in Buy Mode and Build Mode. Removes limitations placed on hand tool for when objects are in use, or are normally non-movable objects. This is known to cause issues with game elements, routing, hidden object generation and manipulation, etc. Note that using this cheat allows you to delete objects that normally cannot be deleted, such as Sims, the mailbox, and the garbage can. If you delete these objects, there is no way to get them back, so be careful!

aging -on/off: prevents Sims from aging. This can disrupt the carefully tuned gameplay balance, and will prevent little Johnny from ever growing up, so treat this cheat with care as well.

autoPatch -on/off: This cheat lets you re-enable notifications when there is a game update available for The Sims 2. Just turn Autopatch on and go to the Custom Content Browser (the little snowflake button on the UCP in the neighborhood). If there's an update available you'll be asked whether you want to download it.

slowMotion [value]: The slowMotion cheat takes one parameter: the "slowness" setting (such as slowMotion 4). This value ranges from 0 to 8 where 0 is normal speed and 8 is the slowest speed.

boolProp enablePostProcessing true/false: enables the use of postprocessing cheats (see below); very useful for movie making (also see below). Please note that you must have a video card that can handle pixel shaders in order to successfully use this cheat. If you use the cheats and you don't have pixel shaders, the screen will most likely go partially dark, and will not come back until you turn off enablePostProcessing. If you turn on postprocessing, and you turn on cinematics, and a cinematic plays, you may also experience unwanted graphical glitches.

bloom [r g b x] (rgb is color) (x is the bloom amount) [0.0 - 1.0]: This cheat adds a blur effect, like a sitcom flashback moment. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

vignette [centerX centerY X] (X is the vignetteing factor) [0.0 - 1.0]: Adds a blur effect from the specified center. Using "vignette 0.5 0.5 0.5" should put some blurry bits at the edge of the screen. Vignette 0.5 0.5 1.0 is maximum edge blurriness. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

filmGrain [val] [0.0-1.0]: This cheat makes the screen grainy. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

letterBox [val] [0.0-0.4]: Adds a letterbox effect to the view. You must have entered boolProp enablePostProcessing true for this cheat to work.

==Featured Article and Stories W/ pICS==
Hi, I know I am new but I think I have some ideas that you might like. First of all: um, can we please change the featured article? I've been frequenting the site since August and it's been up since then-perhaps longer. It probably looks like the site administrators aren't paying attention to the wiki. And that's a turn off. Well, to a lot of people. Also, I was thinking we could have a section of the wiki where ordinary users like me could post stories with pics. Sites like insimenator.net and magicbeanssims have things like that, I think you might know what I mean. They're sort of like blogs. But anyway, if you don't , check out insimenator.net and magicbeanssims.com. On these things people write stories about their neighborhoods, legacies and ceratain families or Sims. They put pictures from the pictures they take in their games a lot of the time. So I think it would be a good idea to put a section like this up. PS, sorry about the typos because my computer is really sloww and it takes a long time to rite som sometimes i add extra letters or putt hings in all caps or something. So, I am sorry. Still take this seriouusly. -donlothariomustDIE
:First, you are right, it is time to change the featured article. I will start a discussion to take suggestions. I would like to put a stop to your thinking that this is not an active wiki. If you look at the recent changes page you will see that I am on almost everyday, most likely several times a day. Second, players are able to post player stories of premade sims, and CAS sims already. If users like they can write stories of their sims, but I think users should use their user page or a sub-page for those. [[User:A morris|-- a_morris]] 04:41, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Fanon wiki merge discussion[edit source]

Davidmc's take on the pros and cons of merging.

Ok, after you hear this, I know that some of you may think that I am crazy, but I think we should merge The Sims Fanon Wiki with The Sims Wiki. Hear me out, at the Avatar wiki, they have merged their fanon wiki with the main one. While this was initially a controversial move, they claim that it paid off, because their wiki has many more contributors and visitors, making it much more active. I think we should merge these two wikis because with The Sims 3: Ambitions coming out in June, we will need to make our wiki known to people, preferably before the release. Another reason is that I have noticed that the activity of the fanon wiki went down for a while. What better way to bring the activity back up than merge it with a more popular wiki? Thank you for listening to this and please tell me what you think. --Random Ranaun 03:05, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

I hear your reasoning. I support the merging of the 2 wikis! Archie 03:08, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that would be a very good idea. I think because there would be loads more of vandalism, but I'm just an IP so what do I know? :) 74.216.88.170 03:10, April 5, 2010 (UTC)

Dharden 14:30, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

There were two reasons for creating a separate wiki. One Dharden mentioned, the need to mark or keep separate premade content from custom content. The second was whether an editor had the right to change something that someone else had written given that player stories are creative rather than encyclopedic. I had a brief discussion with a former admin. At the time I was pretty much the only one on, I didn't want to spend all my time fixing the spelling and grammar of everyone's story and decided to move the stories to subpages. At this point, I concede that merging might be a good idea. It would also make the discussion on what downloads and custom content should be included moot. --a_morris (talk) 03:05, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

I do have my concerns about increased vandalism, but, it would seem good for the community. Author 03:12, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

I personally believe the two wikis should stay divided. There must be a reason why they were made into 2 different wikis, after all! Bleeh (talk) 22:40, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

I hate to jump back onto this Wiki after being so inactive for so long to voice my opinion, but I actually don't think this is a bad idea. My reasoning: 1) If I remember correctly, fans do come here and do post fan material that then needs to be moved and/or deleted by admins.

That's just my $0.02 though. LostInRiverview 23:31, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

I actually never thought of those possibilities. Though, if users did add info about their own characters, there would need to be a way for other users to be able to distinguish whether or not it's a Sim that's made by Maxis. There would need to be a category, or something, which I'm sure most new-comers to the wiki wouldn't add, since Wikia is confusing enough. Bleeh (talk) 23:37, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'm not saying it wouldn't be complicated. That's why it's important to determine whether the changes are needed or desired enough to justify upsetting the status quo. LostInRiverview 21:14, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
C'mon people! We need to vote! We've had 16 people vote, but, no results! Archie 23:56, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

I will begin the official vote, according to our voting procedure, on May 1 and put an announcement on the main page. In the event of a tie, we will keep things the same, i.e. stay divided.

Should the "We combine" option prevail, it will be followed by a discussion/vote to determine how to add the new content and the merging will begin upon its conclusion and any maintenance tasks required (ex. creating templates, etc.) Any new content may be left until a decision is made. --a_morris (talk) 14:01, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

So then, if a user makes a page about a fanon Sim, we just let it stay in the wiki until the voting is over? Or would we move it to the user namespace? If it's the first, then how would we remember to move it to the user namespace if the wikis stay divided? Bleeh (talk) 20:49, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
No. After the first vote, if we are going to combine, only then will fanon pages be left as is until we decide how to deal with them. For now and if we decide to stay divided, fanon pages should be moved to the user namespace, as usual. --a_morris (talk) 23:15, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

FYI - TamBams219 has requested to adopt The Sims Fanon Wiki. This may have an impact on whether we will be allowed to merge the two wikis. --a_morris (talk) 00:14, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • At the present moment, I am mulling my thoughts over. TamBams219 02:21, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
  • I'm totally agains't it! Why did we make players stories after all?!AGuyCalledJoe 14:59, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
I can't see merging being a disaster, but I can see it being a damn pain without extremely well-laid guidelines, and possibly even with them. (Kiwi tea 17:14, May 2, 2010 (UTC))

  • Hello. I'm an unregistered contributor! I'm not sure if I can vote but look at the facts. This wiki is very slow. Wikis like Avatar and Kingdom Hearts, have twice the many users we do. It's pretty sad. So I'm hoping that the merge will help us out. 98.242.115.205 04:23, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Disagree[edit source]

  1. --Bleeh (talk) 03:28, May 1, 2010 (UTC) Bet I'll be the only one, but so be it. I definitely disagree with the option to merge, but hey, it's not my wiki anyways.
  2. --Sparrowsong 04:01, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
  3. -- Kiwi tea 09:12, May 1, 2010 (UTC) I know I'm new, and I can see the arguments in favour of this, but I see it making a mess. I have extensive Fanon for Riverblossom Hills. Now that would make things confusing! I'm sure I'm only one of hundreds like that.
  4. --DavidMC123 14:13 Saturday, May 01, 2010 (UTC) (I think that's the right time)I have made an image of pros and cons. Here is the image.
  5. AGuyCalledJoe 14:56, May 2, 2010 (UTC) It would make a complete mess, people will be confused and they will probably wont know if a sim is fanon or not this is the same as when there was a discussion with the SimCity games of the MySims besides this wiki is about The Sims Series not The Sims Fanon Series >.>

  7. Deftera 18:17, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
  8. LostInRiverview 02:16, May 8, 2010 (UTC) While I personally agree with (or am at most neutral about) the idea of merging, I can see that quite a few people here are against the merge. Therefore, I'm voting against it, because I don't think we should go into something like this with a less than clear concensus, which I see we fail to have at the moment.
  9. Guffers 13:23, May 8, 2010 (UTC) It would get to complicated as people wouldn't bother to mark their stuff as CC. And anyway, does the Fanon Wiki want to merge?
  10. --Lewislew 16:14, May 10, 2010 (UTC) I disagree, it would just make this confusing and pointless!
  11. UBFunkaneer 21:54, May 11, 2010 (UTC) On the Spore Wiki, there was more Fanon than Canon. The same'll happen here. And if someone accidentally made a sim with the same name as a future sim, they'd be yelled at vandalism they did not commit.
  12. I agree with Funkaneer. RaikuLuciferSamiyaza 00:56, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Fanon wiki merge vote results[edit source]

Final count:

Agree: 45%
Neutral: 5%
Disagree: 50%
