What downloads and custom content should be included?
Keeping in mind the purpose of this wiki (i.e. articles should be written in an encyclopedic manner and contain references and/or links to the downloadable content) and our policy on player stories, what downloads and custom content should be included and how should it be organized to distinguish it from in-game content?
Feel free to add your ideas.
Levels of content restriction (The higher the level the more content. Higher levels include lower level content)
- EAxis-made (Free downloads from the exchange, programs like Body Shop and Create a World, and premium items)
- Popular gaming mods like SimPE, InSimenator and InTeenimater
Fanon Database - any shared contentSee The Sims Wiki talk:Community Portal/Archive 5.
Types of differentiation
- Templates such as {{Custom content}}, {{official item}}
- Categories, ex. Category:Fanon Sims or Category:User-created Sims instead of Category:Sims
A custom namespace, Fanon, would be created and articles would be prefixed with "Fanon:"

- IMO, families and Sims found on the Exchange for The Sims should not be included, as they will be either fan-made, or fan-played versions of Maxis-made families. Besides, the downloadable Maxis families for The Sims already have pages. Dharden 17:16, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't mind what content is included as long as it is shared, that is someone has uploaded it somewhere so others can download it and use it in their game, and not just a story. Otherwise I am more concerned about how it is represented. The content needs to be visibly distinguishable and categorized separately from premade content. --a_morris (talk) 17:04, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
Thought I'd mention that I just found this project. I created two new categories: Category:Mods & Category:Tools. I also edited the {{custom content}} template for include links to new pages Tool and Mod. Duskey(talk)(blog) 19:49, June 20, 2010 (UTC)
Wallpaper
What's our take on wallpaper? We could easily include official wallpaper and smack it in a gallery under the appropriate games. What about user-created wallpaper? Do we keep that in the wallpaper category or just in 'user files'? I have no problem with users uploading wallpaper and using it in their personal CSS for instance. Popular custom content
Do we allow popular custom content? New Buckington. Duskey(talk) 18:05, August 31, 2010 (UTC)
