Biography
Admiral Landgraab is SimNation's most tragic naval hero. After a series of dashing exploits in his youth, Landgraab settled into a downward spiral of mercantile ventures, gunboat diplomacy and inevitable treaty breaking that became synonymous with the Landgraab family to this day. He is pictured here just before his undoing at the hands of disgruntled island natives.

Painting from The Sims: Hot Date

Admiral Landgraab is a Sim mentioned in a few The Sims expansion packs such as Hot Date and Vacation. Admiral Landgraab is presumed to be a long-dead historical figure, and to have been killed by natives - possibly by the Native Sims of Vacation Island.

It is clear that he is a member of the Landgraab Dynasty, but his position in the family tree is unknown. It is likely that he lived after Gregory. The chance card for the adventurer career of The Sims 2: Seasons says, that Gregory was the first of Landgraabs who came into a great deal of money and became one of the wealthiest landowners around. Otherwise, Admiral Landgraab might be Gregory himself instead. It is possible that humble schoolteacher (as Gregory is described) could have turn into a rampant conspiracy theorist and worrywart (as Admiral is described) after gaining a large sum of money.

There are some other theories about Admirals lineage. It is possible that Admiral might be the son of a merchant descendant Dacian Landegraab and a pirate Misty Darktide from The Sims Medieval: Pirates & Nobles as he shares a similar surname with Dacian. Such lineage would explain Admirals connection with the sea and all his pirate-like behavior: tendency to use gunboat diplomacy and breaking treaties.

The Sims 3: World Adventures, Admiral is sometimes described as Admiral Landgraab I, possibly suggesting he could have been Malcolm Landgraab I. On the other hand, it can be possible that Admiral is the first who was using Landgraab (not Landegraab, etc.) surname, that's why he is called "the 1st". Anyway it's most likely that he is the patriarch of the Landgraab family.

Champs Les Sims[edit | edit source]

The quests in Champs Les Sims reveals that Admiral Landgraab was studying the history of Nectar nearly 60 years before the start of The Sims 3. Landgraab took credit for the invention of the delicious nectar beverage, along with Anastasia Necteaux. At some point in his life, according to Landgraab's groundskeeper, he sent his men to kill Anastasia Necteaux, possibly to take all the credit of creating nectar. However, the woman was rescued by a man named James Vaughan. Later in his life, he wanted to learn about an ancestor of Anastasia so ventured to a tomb with his men. They asked Necteaux for directions, but she pointed them in the wrong direction, and were never seen again; contradicting previous statements that he was killed by natives. However, Landgraab's remains can be found somewhere in Chateau du Landgraab, so his body must have been recovered.

Chateau du Landgraab[edit | edit source]

Chateau du Landgraab was Admiral Landgraab's estate, located in Champs Les Sims, and also features as a tomb in World Adventures. It includes two double-bed bedrooms, a bedroom with two single beds, a baby room, several bathrooms, a private study, fireplace, kitchen, dining room, private library, groundskeeper shack and more. As it had a baby room and two single beds, it is possible that he had children.

Admiral Landgraab was a worrywart obsessed with military code, so his tomb is "shut tighter than Napoleon's tomb," according to local historians such as Francois Lambert.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Admiral Landgraab had a strange personality. He appeared to be cold-hearted, sadistic and gold-hungry, however also quite neurotic, which explains why his estate has so many traps.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • He could be a parody of Napoleon. Both are French, and have a cold-hearted and gold-hungry personality.
  • There are also similarities with the portraits and early years of John Paul Jones, a naval hero from the American War of Independence, who retired and died in Paris, France, and who was later posthumously promoted to the rank of Admiral.
  • Appearance-wise, he greatly resembles Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson. As well, both sustained injuries in battle that caused them to lose sight in one eye.
  • His death is likely to be a reference to the death of British explorer James Cook, who was killed by Hawaiian natives in 1779.
  • The Admiral’s surname, Landgraab, was changed to Landgraaf in the Dutch translations of the game. Landgraaf is also a town in The Netherlands.
