Athanasia Kostopoulou (Gk. Αθανασία Κωστόπουλου), born December 12, 1982, is the sister of the head of the Kostopoulos Shipbuilding Firm, Angelos Kostopoulos. Athanasia is very much ambitious, very willing to make her name meaningful (it means immortal). Athanasia believes that the Kostopoulos Shipbuilding Firm is an avenue of immortalizing her name, although Athanasia views it as a means to an end rather than something to treasure in the long run. It is Athanasia who steers the Kostopouloi into adopting "noble" conventions, something that isn't entirely compatible with the individual members of the Kostopouloi, most notably Kyriake. Although Athanasia is a big fan of luxury and high social status, she has proven to be quite spartan in actual lifestyle as she has preferred minimizing costs, preferring cheap food and decorations in her private sphere of life.

Athanasia is particularly disappointed with Kyriake given her "unladylike" preferences, as well as her apathy to the opposite sex. The latter element is especially important, as Athanasia had hoped to use Kyriake as a honey trap to expand Kostopouloi interests. In fact, Athanasia only wishes that Kyriake was as interested as her son, Theophylaktos. However, given Kyriake's condition, Athanasia decides to take advantage of what she has, and has since adopted a policy to have Theophylaktos become the heir to the Kostopouloi legacy over Kyriake.

Athanasia is a bitter rival to the wife of her brother's rival, Ayla Demirci. In fact, the Athanasia-Ayla rivalry is far more hostile than the relatively friendly rivalry of Angelos and Bayram given their fundamental disagreement regarding mannerism. Such is the rivalry that they egg Angelos and Bayram respectively to outdo each other, even though Angelos and Bayram more often than not is more interested in limited cooperation learned from their experience.

Athanasia is most skilled in the fields of art, having 4 points in Painting, and 3 points each in Cooking and Sculpting. Athanasia also possesses a laptop in her inventory like Angelos.

Fanon Story[edit | edit source]

Athanasia, true to her Greek origins, hold a negative view of the Turks that is reinforced by the rivalry between the Demirci company and the Kostopoulos firm. Although Athanasia is displeased at Kyriake's preferences, Angelos shields Kyriake from criticism. Given the stalemate that would result from this, a compromise is born: Kyriake would be given autonomy in exchange for earning her keep and helping out in immortalizing the family name. As to ensure that Kyriake would carry out the latter end of her side of the deal, Athanasia compels Kyriake to enroll in the Film career, a job that Kyriake simply has no affection for. However, Kyriake is more apathetic than antagonistic, so Kyriake's actual job performance was not penalized. No, Kyriake's good looks had actually paid dividends in Athanasia's POV, although Kyriake saw it as an unattractive lure.

Athanasia herself took the job of a professional artist: One would have thought this to be ironic, but Athanasia was not unskilled in visual art, and has supplemented the Kostopouloi income. Athanasia was aware of Kyriake's nectar and gardening initiative: the fledging garden occupied a good portion of the space. What Athanasia wasn't aware of was Kyriake's gem collection, which not surprisingly included Tiberium that exist in abundance in Hekatonschoinos. Given Kyriake's Tiberium amassing, Kostopouloi house was an attractive target for the long inert and weak criminal network. And in one night, a robber struck, taking one of Kyriake's refined tiberium, besting a police officer in the process. Athanasia didn't even notice any of this, and is still in dark regarding Kyriake's tiberium storage.

Athanasia would make contact with the Big 6 not long after that, as Kallisto was indignant about the ineptness of the police outside the elite. Kallisto had personally taken to herself to punish the robber with supernatural powers, and then proceeded to provide Kyriake with a new raw gem. Kyriake was then at the Stoa Hellenike, leaving Athanasia to be greeted by Kallisto and Stratonike, latter having teleported via meditation. Here Kallisto would restore a gem to Kyriake, but that would not be Kallisto's only deed: Kallisto saw Kyriake to be an willing individual with initiative: Kallisto was shocked by Kyriake's fledging garden as well as the developing nectar making facilities, and Kallisto had tutored Kyriake enough for Kyriake to start using the life fruits. Athanasia was aware of Kallisto's interest in Kyriake: Athanasia was however not aware of the magnitude of Kallisto's interest.

Athanasia was most pleased after Kyriake made an unprecedented amount of cash (with a stroke of luck) selling off a defective tiberium piece to the consignment store: The defective tiberium was unusual, and it fetched a market price of 400,000§, amount unheard of even in the Ecclesiarchal ranks. Given the nature of the consignment store, Kyriake would return with a sum of about 750k§, which led Athanasia to take interest in Kyriake's activities, while using the money earned in investments hoping to outdo their neighbor and rivals, the Demirci. Seeing as Kyriake's independence has suddenly left them with even more money, Athanasia started to actively participate in nectar making, believing that to be Kyriake's source of revenue. Alas, Athanasia did not study nectar making, and it would be Kyriake who produced the best of the Kostopouloi nectar.
