Marilyn was born in Sunset Valley to Gregory Pleasant and Helena Pleasant. She began to display the powers of a genie when she was a child, but neither parent was truly surprised to the presence of magic in their lives, with Helena being a witch and Gregory's mother being a genie.
Marilyn moved out when she was a teen, into her young adult partner's house. Shortly after she moved in, he died in a fire caused by the stove. She inherited the house and all his possessions slightly before the law changed to no longer allow teens to be able to do so. His death deeply affected her. She vowed to never forget him and never told anyone his name or anything about him. To this day, Marilyn is the only living sim who knows who he was. Her powers as a genie strengthened as a result of his death, and she is able to teleport, grant any wish, as well as create a physical barrier around herself. She was next in line to become Queen once her grandmother, Queen Vivian died, until Florence Pleasant was born. She is now second in line and would rise to power if Florence died before Vivian.
