Strangetown is a neighbourhood that ships with The Sims 2 base game, which is filled with many mysteries. The town is mostly dry desert, and there is a nuclear powerplant and an Alien crash site that can be seen when exploring. There are many Alien-Sim hybrids living in the town, but some Sims tend to discriminate against them, especially older Sims such as General Buzz Grunt.
Due to the town's mysterious nature, many Sims living there find themselves wanting to pursue a career in Science. However, some other Sims are convinced that the Aliens are planning a full-scale invasion, and choose to join the Military so they will be able to one day fight them.

- Tank Grunt, Kristen Grunt, Natasha Grunt, Brick Grunt
- Tank is now a military man like his father always wanted, and he's happy with his wife, Kristen, and his two children. His daughter, Natasha, is an overachiever with her mind set on being in the military, while his son, Brick, just wants to party.
- Ripp Grunt, Ophelia Grunt, Gertrude Grunt, Dana Grunt, Rex Grunt
- Ripp still isn't living up to his father's lofty expectations, but he's certainly doing better than anyone ever thought he would. He's getting high in the ranks of his career, he's married to his teenage sweetheart Ophelia, and the couple have three lovely children together.
- General Buzz Grunt, Buck Grunt, Jill Grunt, Buchanan Grunt, James Grunt, Rocky Grunt
- One bad decision cost Buzz his position as General, so now he has to live with his youngest son's family. That proved to be a problem, since his daughter-in-law is not only part Alien, but the child of his enemy. However, these new living arrangements could do wonders for his acceptance of others. Meanwhile, Buck is excelling as a Law Enforcement officer, and Jill is working in the Culinary career. Their two oldest sons, Buchanan and James, are overachievers, while Rocky is still inconclusive due to his young age.
- Pascal Curious, Erin Curious, Tycho Curious, Inigo Curious
- After giving birth to his Alien son Tycho, Pascal decided to move out of his brothers' house. It was difficult finding someone who could accept a man who had carried a baby inside him, but Erin was happy to help care for little Tycho. Soon after, the couple had their own child, Inigo, but Erin still sees Tycho as like her own son.
- Vidcund Curious, Marie Curious, Albert Curious, Maura Curious
- Vidcund thought his broken heart would never be healed after breaking up with Circe, but that was until he met Marie, a beautiful scientist who didn't care that he'd given birth to an Alien child. Now the two have their own child, a daughter named Maura.
- Lazlo Curious, Crystal Curious, Ruby Curious
- Lazlo moved out of his brothers' house after finally winning the heart of his crush, Crystal. He feels like the luckiest man in the world to be married to the woman of his dreams, have a successful career in Science, and have a happy, healthy daughter.
- Nervous Subject, Lola Subject, Anxious Subject
- Nervous thought he'd never escape the clutches of the evil Loki and Circe Beaker, but with the help of Lola, he finally did. Now he's doing everything he can to hide his traumatic past from his young daughter, Anxious.
- Ajay Loner, Chloe Loner, Chance Loner
- It didn't take too long living in Strangetown for Ajay Loner to realise it wasn't too much fun being alone. He and Chloe Curious decided to have some "fun" together, but that "fun" resulted in a daughter, Chance. The two decided to stay together for the baby's sake, but will Ajay or Chloe get sick of the other eventually?
- Johnny Smith, Anastasia Smith, Dimitri Smith
- Anastasia moved to Strangetown to meet a real-live Alien, and ended up falling in love with one. She and Johnny are happy together with their son Dimitri, but a "surprise" from the stars could shake things up. Meanwhile, Dimitri is feeling forgotten by his extended family, so he wants to make an impression on them.
- Pollination Technician 9 Smith, Jenny Smith
- Since both of their children moved out and started families of their own, life has been pretty quiet for Tech#9 and Jenny. They want to find something that will make their lives interesting again, but what could that possibly be?
- Olive Specter
- Olive still wants to properly reconnect with her long-lost son, Nervous, but it's so hard to figure out how; especially with Olive's shady past and Nervous' very traumatic life. Perhaps the birth of her grandchild, Anxious, will inspire Olive to get back into her son's life for good?
- Georges Pierre, Adrienne Pierre, Virgine Pierre, Gilbert Pierre
- Georges and Adrienne moved their whole family to Strangetown when their oldest daughter Marie decided she wanted to live there. Will their two younger children, Virgine and Gilbert, be able to make happy lives in this peculiar neighbourhood?
