Correction: In the Sims 2, Flat Broke natural hair color is grey. There is no character data to justify that his hair color was black in the Sims 2. Even if SimPE is used, to resurrect Flat Broke, a look alike sim is cloned. The character data from the cloned sim is then used to "fill in" the missing information for Flat Brokes character files. The character data consists of the "skeleton" and appearance of the Sim. Basically, through SimPE, Flat Broke if "brought back" is a recreation from a cloned sim, and not a resurrection. Flat Broke would have all the same character data within his files from the cloned sim, having the same hair, eye, and skin color. The player would have to "tweak" the appearance of Flat Broke either through SimPE or "in game". See Resurrecting tips for more information.
''Flat Broke loves a good time. He works just hard enough to keep the bills paid with enough left over for a little fun. As long as he has Flo at his side he has everything he needs.''
The name Flat Broke may refer money, as the Brokes are not exceedingly rich (hence their last name). The first name "Flat" and the last name "Broke" hints that perhaps Flat Broke really was "flat broke".
Life leading up to The Sims 3
Flat lives in Riverview with his wife Flo Broke, son, Skip Broke, and daughter, Ruby Broke. His brother, Buck Broke, nephew Trigger Broke, and niece, Susie Broke, live with him as well. Even though he is an Elder in the game, he looks rather different at his death, having full grey hair and no beard. He is friends with almost all members of his family, he and his wife dislike their older child Ruby Broke.
Life leading up to The Sims 2
Although Flat is no longer living at the start of The Sims 2, the Broke family tree tells us that Flat was married to Flo Broke, and that they are the parents of Skip Broke. All three of them were deceased before the start of The Sims 2's storyline, which leaves Skip's wife, Brandi Broke, widowed and raising her sons (Dustin Broke, Beau Broke, and an unborn son, which she is expecting at the start of the game), who are Flat's grandchildren. The fact that he has brown hair in The Sims 3, and his natural hair color is black in The Sims 2, implies he dyed it brown while he was an Elder.
