Tiberium[edit | edit source]
Tiberium is an extraordinarily rare and potentially very valuable gem. It represents the Tiberium crystal in Command And Conquer: Tiberium Wars. The raw rock is worth §75-125. In the inventory (either as ore or cut) it will give a negative "Visceroidal Nausea" moodlet (-25 mood).
Tiberium can be cut into 2 different forms:
- Small Spire Cut (§6,500)
- Heart-Shaped Cut (§1,000)
No matter what the cut is, a non-large cut of Tiberium will grow into a Large Spire Cut within a day, giving it a value of around §40,000 or higher in some cases. Large cuts of Tiberium gems do not morph into Large Spire cuts.
Cuts[edit | edit source]
Gems may be sent to the gem-cutter by mail and cut into the following cuts. Starting with the emerald cut, Sims gain cuts by cutting increasing numbers of gems.
Geode & Septarian Nodules only have polished split and heart-shaped cut, while Tiberium only has Spire and Heart-Shaped cut.
Sometimes the gem cutters will return an uncut gem, saying that it is actually a Mysterious Mr. Gnome in disguise.
The table lists both when you break even with a particular cut, and when a cut begins yielding better profit than the previous cut. For example, if a gem is worth §47, an oval cut provides §70 while the Pear cut yields §82. Factoring in the cost of the gem and the cost of cutting the gem, the Oval cut provides a §3 profit while the Pear cut yields no profit. The Pear cut does not start providing more profit than the Oval cut until the original worth is §60, as listed below.
With The Sims 3: Supernatural, Sims can purchase the Gem-U-Cut machine for a one-time investment of §975. It does not cost anything to cut a gem with the machine, meaning that the machine can eventually pay for itself. Sims gain access to new cuts when using the machine in the same way they would when sending gems to the gem-cutter via mail.

- Note:
The star-cut will be enabled after installing patch 26 or The Sims 3: Pets, otherwise it will be hidden from normal gameplay and cannot be produced by players but they can be found in tombs. A glitch that may be caused by testingcheatsenabled true is that when you are returning from any world causes all gems to become blue topaz in color. This can be fixed by restarting, although the glitched gems will stay blue.
