The police officer is a type of NPC in The Sims, The Sims 2 and The Sims 3

Michelle, the Policewoman.

The police will come when an alarm goes off, or when a Sim calls them while a Burglar is on the lot. In The Sims, the police will arrest the burglar, and he will go peacefully. The family will be reimbursed for what was stolen, and will receive a §1000 reward. In The Sims 2, the police will fight the burglar in an attempt to make an arrest. If the police officer wins, the family will be reimbursed for any stolen items, and will receive a §500 reward for the capture of the robber. If the officer loses, the robber will escape with whatever he or she managed to steal.

In The Sims police will come to break up a party but if disobayed and music countinues to blast the police woman will return and fine your sim of $200 but after the party would countinue for sometime and eventually everyone will leave.

In The Sims: House Party, if Sims throw a loud party that lasts past 11 pm, the police will come to break up the party. When the police arrive, there is a strong chance that the party score will immediately drop to "Disaster" unless cheats are used to remove the police car and officer. In The Sims: Livin' Large, if a Sim uses the Concoctinator Chemistry Set outdoors during school hours, a police officer will come and fine the Sim because of the smell. Oddly, this will happen if a Sim drinks a potion outdoors during those hours, even if it was made outside of school hours. If a Sim with low logic skill uses the set, there is a chance that a failed potion with a bad smell will be created, in which case the police will come and fine the Sim for the smell.

Calling a false alarm to the police station in The Sims results in a stern warning. However, in both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, the caller will be fined §200-§500. If the family doesn't have enough money, the police will take away one piece of furniture. If the family doesn't have enough money or any items that aren't in use, the police will say they are fining them, but nothing will happen and they will just leave.

Occasionally, whilst the player's Sim is at work in the criminal career in The Sims 3, a policeman/woman will come to arrest them. Then, the Sim will be taken to the police station for 12-24 Sim hours.

The police can also come if a teen Sim runs away or breaks curfew[TS3]. The parents of teen Sims who have left can call the police to find them and bring them home. This leaves a bad memory for the teen. Sometimes, the police will also catch a teen Sim who sneaks out.

In The Sims 2 Pets expansion pack and console versions, if pets run away, Sims can call the police and have them try to find them. Whether they succeed or not is determined randomly.

  • It helps to have a phone in the bedroom near the bed to minimize the distance Sims have to walk to call the police.
  • If a burglar alarm goes off, the cops will come right over. If Sims have to call them manually, they probably won't arrive in time.
  • In The Sims 2, there is a 4:1 chance that the police officer will be a man rather than a woman.
