Chat moderator requests are almost always open on SITENAME.
Requests for content moderator user rights are handled through this page. Moderator rights requests are almost always open on SITENAME.

Requests for content moderatorship
If you feel that you would make a good fit for Content Moderatorship, or you feel that another user on the wiki would make a good fit, please put your application/nomination below. Please make sure that you/your nominee meet the minimum requirements before submitting an application/nomination.

Minimum requirements
In order to apply for Content Moderator rights, or to be nominated, a user must:
* Be a registered member of The Sims Wiki for at least three months
* Be an active wiki editor in the content namespaces (the main namespace, game guides namespace, and/or the fanon namespace)
* Show an understanding of basic wiki editing, and at least some experience with more in-depth/technical aspects such as category or template usage

Procedure for Applications and Nominations
Step One - Applications or nominations
Any user who meets the minimum requirements may apply for Content Moderator rights. Applicants should add their application, including a signature, to the "Current requests" section below.

Any registered user on The Sims Wiki may nominate an eligible user for Content Moderator rights. Users nominating another user should explain why the nominee is a good fit for the role, and must include the nominating user's signature. Nominations should be added to the "Nominations" section below.

A nominee must accept a nomination on the "Requests for Moderatorship" page before it can be considered. If a nomination is accepted by the nominee and the nominee is eligible for the role, the nomination will be moved to "current requests" and will be processed in the same manner as self-applications. Nominees may decline any nomination for any reason they choose; nominees who decline nominations may be re-nominated or may apply for the position at any time in the future.

In their application, or when responding to a nomination, the applicant/nominee ("Candidate") should explain why they want and would be a good fit for the role, and must include the candidate's signature.

Step Two - Discussion
The period of discussion on a Content Moderator promotion should last at least seven (7) days. Discussions can be ended early by an administrator or bureaucrat if the candidate is found to be ineligible, if the candidate requests it, or if the application has WP:SNOWBALL due to opposition. Multiple Content Moderator discussions may be conducted simultaneously, but each discussion should focus on only one candidate.

Discussions should be focused on determining whether a candidate is a good fit for the position. Any registered member of The Sims Wiki may participate in user promotion discussions. Users are encouraged to keep an open mind about all candidates and to ask questions. Users should avoid sweeping praise or generalizations about a candidate (e.g. "he she deserves/it" or "he/she is a good editor), but should instead focus on specific positives or negatives and specific reasons why a candidate should or should not be promoted. Discussion participants are expected to remain civil and polite, especially when speaking critically of a candidate. The candidate is encouraged to participate in the discussion, especially to answer questions or address any issues regarding their candidacy. All discussion posts must be signed.

Step Three - Resolution
If, after seven days of discussion, there appears to be consensus in favor of promotion, the candidate will be promoted. If there is no clear consensus in favor of the promotion, the discussion will end and the candidate will not be promoted. In cases where a candidate is not successful in obtaining Content Moderator rights, the candidate may re-apply or be nominated again at any point in the future; however, candidates who do not achieve promotion should address the specific issue(s) brought up during the discussion before re-applying. If a user repeatedly applies for Content Moderator rights despite multiple failed applications, and the user shows no or few attempts to correct the issue(s) that led to their earlier failures, they may be restricted from making further applications for a period of time, as determined by the administrators.

Nominations
{{Info|Nominating users|This section is for nominations. Any user wishing to nominate another user for content moderator rights should add their nomination below this box. *Be an active user of Chat (on chat every day, or nearly every day) for at least four months.
*Having a fair knowledge on how Chat works and the rules of using Chat.
*A good record of civil behavior - if you have been told off for messing around or are constantly bringing up heart-touching (i.e sensitive topics) or inappropriate topics, then you are not ready for this.
*Having good English skills is a necessity as English is the only language allowed on main Chat.

Application procedure
;Discussion
Stage 1: Nominating
*Users may nominate themselves or other users for Chat moderator rights.
*Multiple requests at one time are allowed.
*Moderator candidates that are not given any additional privileges are ineligible to be nominated or to nominate themselves for at least a month.

Please do not delete this sample. Please post new applications and discussions below this sample.-->
Stage 2: Discussion
There are no outstanding requests at this time.
*A period of discussion shall last at least three days.
:*If a request will clearly not achieve a favorable consensus (i.e. there is absolutely no support for promotion) - in other words, the request doesn't have a "snowball's chance" of passage - it may be canceled early.
*After three days of discussion, it shall be determined whether a consensus is in favor of a user being given Chat Moderator rights. If there is a consensus, rights will be awarded. If there is clearly no consensus for a user to be promoted, the discussion is ended and rights will not be awarded.
*In cases where consensus is not clear after three days, discussion will continue for three additional days.
:*If, after this time, there is no clear consensus either in favor or not in favor of promotion, the request proceeds to Stage 3.

Stage 3: Voting
Closed requests
2018clr
*A period of voting shall last five days.
Gvaudoin
*Votes for a nominee may only be support or oppose votes. Any neutral votes cast will not be included in an official vote count.
I, LostInRiverview, would like to nominate Gvaudoin for the role of Content Moderator on The Sims Wiki.
*A 2/3rds majority vote (of counted votes only) is required for a promotion nomination to pass this stage.

Gvaudoin has been an active or semi-active member of The Sims Wiki since the tail-end of 2017, and has shown herself to be a highly competent wiki editor in that time. She seems like someone who is genuinely interested not only in improving and expanding the content of the encyclopedia, but in engaging positively and helpfully with other members of the community.
Note
Both administrators and bureaucrats may moderate discussions and votes, determine consensus, and award rights to successful nominees. Administrators and bureaucrats may participate in discussions and vote, but must be impartial when moderating, determining consensus, and awarding rights.

Gvaudoin is not currently a rollbacker, and I did consider nominating her for that position instead. (For the record, rollback is not listed as a prerequisite for obtaining the Content Mod role) But, I feel that she could get more use out of the expanded toolset of the Content Mod role than she could simply from the rollback tool, and I feel that the wiki could use another experienced hand in the Content Mod position. I have no doubt that she would be well-equipped to effectively utilize these additional tools if she is ultimately promoted.
What you will do as a Chat moderator
*Protect Chat from disruptive behavior by warning, kicking and/or banning disruptive individuals.
*Maintain an active presence in Chat so that it's more easily moderated; it's not worth having these rights if you're hardly ever in Chat.

Moderate to weak oppose While you are definitely active on chat, I'm not really sure if you're ready to be a chat moderator. My biggest concern is that you tend to bring up a lot of mundane topics during periods of silence (or even in the middle of conversations that are irrelevant to the discussion), which seems to be an attempt to fill in "dead air." I'm not saying "Don't talk at all," but it makes me uncomfortable when new users join the chat and see your messages via chat scrollback. (I think I've talked to you about this too over PM, if my memory hasn't failed me yet) Also, with regards to this and this, I don't think you know how to resolve conflicts and disputes, and as a chat moderator, you need to know how to handle these things effectively (a ban or kick is not always the solution!) --I am <span style="color:#0040FF">k6ka</span> <span style="color:#0080FF">Talk to me!</span> <span style="color:#0B4C5F">See what I have done</span> 23:18, June 24, 2015 (UTC)

Oppose You've only been here for one month and, like EPIC's nomination, I'm not convinced that you know how to handle trolls. You also don't meet the minimum requirements, per <span class="inline-quote-talk" style="font-family: Georgia, 'DejaVu Serif', serif; color:#008560">Be an active user of Chat (on chat every day, or nearly every day) for at least four months.</span> --I am <span style="color:#0040FF">k6ka</span> <span style="color:#0080FF">Talk to me!</span> <span style="color:#0B4C5F">See what I have done</span> 14:19, June 25, 2015 (UTC)
:Oppose - I personally don't think you are ready to become a chat moderator. For one thing you've only been here for a month. I've seen no evidence that you know how to handle trolls etc. I'm also unconvinced that you'd know when to kick or ban disruptive users in chat. Also from what I've seen, you have a lot to learn before you are ready to obtain such rights. For these, and other reasons, I unfortunately can not support this nomination. -- <font color="maroon">C.Syde</font> (<font color="black">talk</font> &#124; <font color="black">contribs</font>) 02:26, June 26, 2015 (UTC)
::neutral Comment - C.Syde... Because I'm fairly new to this Wiki means that I don't know how to handle trolls? I'm sorry but that's not fair... And I really know how to handle trolls. :::neutral Comment - @Sims2Player... I'm not saying that you do not have the experience. And I'm not saying that your behaviour is bad. I'm just unconvinced at the present time that your behaviour can currently reflect a responsible chat moderator. I know that your not a kid anymore. But even some grownups that are considerably older than we are might not be able to pass off as a chat moderator. That is the cold hard truth. I'm sure that one day you'll be able to obtain chat moderator rights, and even if you don't, it does not mean that you can do great things for the wiki. -- <font color="maroon">C.Syde</font> (<font color="black">talk</font> &#124; <font color="black">contribs</font>) 05:58, June 26, 2015 (UTC)
::::You can really say what you want here, but we determine chat mods based on what we see, not what you claim. Right now I am not seeing the maturity a chat moderator needs to demonstrate here on The Sims Wiki. In fact, far from it, since yesterday you were repeatedly asking me the same question over and over again every time you kept leaving and rejoining. Judging by your "Does this hurt my chances" question after I told you to stop, I can say that you seriously lack the maturity needed for a position like this. --I am <span style="color:#0040FF">k6ka</span> <span style="color:#0080FF">Talk to me!</span> <span style="color:#0B4C5F">See what I have done</span> 13:04, June 26, 2015 (UTC)

Requests for content moderatorship[edit source]

If you feel that you would make a good fit for Content Moderatorship, or you feel that another user on the wiki would make a good fit, please put your application/nomination below. Please make sure that you/your nominee meet the minimum requirements before submitting an application/nomination.

Minimum requirements[edit source]

In order to apply for Content Moderator rights, or to be nominated, a user must:

 • Be a registered member of The Sims Wiki for at least three months
 • Be an active wiki editor in the content namespaces (the main namespace, game guides namespace, and/or the fanon namespace)
 • Show an understanding of basic wiki editing, and at least some experience with more in-depth/technical aspects such as category or template usage

Procedure for Applications and Nominations[edit source]

Step One - Applications or nominations[edit source]

Step Two - Discussion[edit source]

The period of discussion on a Content Moderator promotion should last at least seven (7) days. Discussions can be ended early by an administrator or bureaucrat if the candidate is found to be ineligible, if the candidate requests it, or if the application has no chance of succeeding due to opposition.

Step Three - Resolution[edit source]

Nominations[edit source]

Nominating users
This section is for nominations. Any user wishing to nominate another user for content moderator rights should add their nomination below this box. In your nomination, please explain why the nominee would be a good fit for this role, and make sure you sign the nomination using four tildes (~~~~) If a nomination is accepted by the nominee, and the nominee is eligible, the nomination will be moved to the section below.

Gvaudoin[edit source]

I, LostInRiverview, would like to nominate Gvaudoin (talk · contribs · editcount · block · modify rights · logs · block log) for the role of Content Moderator on The Sims Wiki.
