'Brandi was left to raise two boys alone following her husband's suspicious pool ladder accident. With Dustin acting out, can Brandi teach young Beau to make the right choices in life?'
'When Flo and Flat met in high school, sparks flew. Life has never been easy but as long as they are together they find a way to have fun. When Flat's brother Buck showed up with two kids and no wife, they just invited him to move in. The more the merrier.'
As the name suggests, they have a monetary situation, supposedly because Brandi has just lost her husband and source of income. The family has around §930 in funds, which wouldn't be so bad if it had any source of income other than Dustin's teen job. The family has a net worth of around §25,000, and Brandi does have one or two things which can be sold for cash, but that's not a long-term solution to the family's financial problems.
In The Sims 3, the Broke family lives in Riverview. In the Riverview graveyard, there is the grave of Bernard Broke, who died as an adult from drowning. He may be the father or brother of Flat and Buck, but he is not featured in the family tree.
Of all of the family members in The Sims 3, only Flat, Flo, and Skip are mentioned in The Sims 2. What happened to the others is not known. No members of the family appear in The Sims, though all of them except Flat and Flo are young enough to have been alive during that time.
In The Sims 3, the Brokes appear to have either the traits of Slob and Party Animal. Mary Lu (who is a Broke by marriage) are the only ones who don't have either of those traits.
