Flat Broke loves a good time. He works just hard enough to keep the bills paid with enough left over for a little fun. As long as he has Flo at his side he has everything he needs.
Flat Broke is a Sim featured in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. The name "Flat Broke" may refer to money, as the Brokes are not exceedingly rich (hence their last name). The first name "Flat" and the last name "Broke" hints that perhaps Flat Broke really was "flat broke".
Flat lives in Riverview with his wife Flo Broke, son Skip Broke, and daughter Ruby Broke. His brother, Buck Broke, nephew Trigger Broke, and niece, Susie Broke, live with him as well. It appears that he and Flo most likely had Skip on their last days as adults. Even though he is an elder in the game, his hair is a mix of brown and grey. In this game, Flat is balding with a full beard. Like most of his family, Flat is fat, has the Party Animal trait, and only works a low-paying part-time job, perhaps due to his old age. He is friends with everyone in his family and Elaine Joy, Ginny McDermott and Bennie Dean who all work at the supermarket. In order for Flat to complete his lifetime wish, he must either divorce Flo and remarry or have an affair with another Sim as Flo is too old to be pregnant, or he could adopt, which is possibly easier to do.
Life leading up in The Sims 2
Although Flat is deceased at the start of The Sims 2, the Broke family tree shows that Flat was married to Flo Broke, and that they are the parents of Skip Broke. All three of them were deceased before the start of The Sims 2's storyline, which leaves Skip's wife, Brandi Broke, widowed and raising her sons (Dustin Broke, Beau Broke, and an unborn son, which she is expecting at the start of the game), who are Flat's grandchildren. At the time of his death, Flat's hair had gone fully grey, he had no beard and wore his hair in a ponytail, which is odd considering that he was balding in The Sims 3, which took place before The Sims 2. The fact that he has brown hair in The Sims 3, and his natural hair color is blonde in The Sims 2, implies he dyed it brown while he was an elder. Strangely, while he had brown eyes in The Sims 3, he had dark blue eyes in The Sims 2.
Flat uses a character portrait pose that was discontinued during development. According to his age data in SimPE, Flat had 23 days left when he died.
