Life Leading Up to The Sims 2
Johnny is the son of Pollination Tech#9 Smith and Jenny Smith (née Curious). He has a younger sister, Jill Smith. He has two older half-sisters, Lola and Chloe Singles from his father's pollinating days; the twins were born to Johnny's grandfather, Glarn Curious, after an alien abduction, which means that Lola and Chloe are both his aunts and his half-sisters. He desperately wants to be popular and fit in at his high school. He's going steady with Ophelia Nigmos and is enemies with Tank Grunt because of a feud between their families. He's not friends with Ripp Grunt, but the two are close to being friends.
While he is an alien-Sim hybrid, he appears much more Sim-like than his half-sisters. Aside from having green skin, he essentially looks like a normal Sim. When the Smith family is first played, it is Johnny's last day as a teen and the house is decorated for his birthday. There is a buffet table and a birthday cake and Johnny has the want to have a great party. However, the party has not yet started, so there is still time to send him to college, if University is installed. In fact, if the "Throw Party" call is made before 11:45 am, there will be time for him to have a house party or sports party and still go to college. However, he is a B student and will not qualify for any scholarships unless he can gain a body point before aging up. Johnny starts off with 7 body skill points and 2 mechanical skill points.
If he blows out the candles before 6 PM, he will technically grow up a day early. Once Johnny becomes an adult, he will only be best friends with Ophelia Nigmos, and they will no longer be going steady. However, Johnny will continue to dream about her - with pink hearts bursting around her face - even if he falls in love with another Sim. In one of the storytelling images, Johnny has an unused hairstyle. It's hard to tell, but the texture is different from the one he has in game. As with many pre-made Sims in Strangetown, the "Skintone" part of his Sim DNA is missing.
While the Curious brothers are, biologically speaking, his uncles, Johnny does not recognize them as family members, and doesn't even know them. While he is technically an alien-Sim hybrid, checking his Sim DNA in SimPE shows that he will always pass on genes for the alien skin tone, green eyes, and blond hair. Even though his father is homozygous for alien eyes and red hair, and his mother is homozygous for light skin, he has no genetics for those traits.
Life Leading Up to The Sims 2 for PSP
In the PSP version, Johnny's family and the Grunt family live at Division 47. Apparently, General Buzz Grunt's paranoia towards the Smith family has escalated and he has transferred them to Division 47 alongside his own family (with the exception of Buck Grunt), much to Johnny's disapproval. Johnny requestes the player's help when he tries to escape to Deadtree. The player will have to create a fake ID for him so he can be old enough (he specifies the age of 21 to "impress the ladies") to leave, and loop the security feeds. When Johnny leaves Division 47, he can be found in the Nighthowl Saloon. His relationship with Ophelia, who lives in the Meeting House in Deadtree, is unknown.
Johnny is the only green-skinned Alien-Sim hybrid to appear in the portable versions of the games. Notably, instead of having green eyes, he has black eyes, like his father. Any aliens a player makes in The Sims 2 (PSP) will always have black eyes. However, if their skin color is changed to any others, the eye color of the Sim will always be green. Often going unnoticed, Johnny has black eyebrows in The Sims 2 (PSP) instead of blond. He also has brown eyebrows in the Nintendo DS and GBA versions of The Sims 2. Despite the fact that he is technically an adult, he is described as a "Pouting Teenager".
Johnny's secrets in The Sims 2 (PSP):
- (Personal): Johnny knows that green skin is just like red hair... a great reason to bully a smaller kid.
- (Intimate): Whenever Johnny gets really excited, he starts to smell like fish.
- (Dark): When Johnny was born, he looked like a squid. It's all been downhill from there.
- (Cabin Fever): Johnny Smith ran away from Division 47, and is hiding out in Deadtree.

Life Leading Up to The Sims 2 for Nintendo DS
