Mysterious Mr. Gnome is a special item found in The Sims 3.

Description

The Mysterious Mr. Gnomes are nameable, and can be stored in the inventory of a Sim. The Mysterious Mr.Gnome is kickable, like any gnome, but unlike a regular garden gnome he cannot be cloned with the eyedropper tool, and has a habit of sneaking around the house. The player will never see the gnome sneaking around, (unless you have the ambitions pack, then occasionally you will see him move, orange smoke pops up and he is gone for about 1 ingame minute and reappears somewhere else) but he pops up in all sorts of places that he was never put in. If the player is really, really lucky he can be seen popping from one position to another. He changes place on the lot at about 1:00 a.m.. If kicked, he falls in odd positions that are unexpected from a gnome and sometimes ends up with a plaster across the bridge of his nose, and when picked up, is known to float on air, do hand stands and assume other theatrical positions. You could try and order your Sim to sleep and then order your Sim to view the Gnome at the same time. When he disappears and your Sim wakes up, your Sim will automatically walk to the location of the Gnome. Even if walls are built without a door around him, The Mysterious Mr. Gnome will still pop up anywhere outside. His mysterious disappearing act usually reappears him next to an object. (eg. Boom box, plant, couch, washing machine) Some objects he interacts with when he reappears. For example, when he appears next to T.V.s or stereos, he turns them on. (Possibly waking sleeping Sims, so watch out!) If The Magical Gnome Of Inventing appears next to a Scraptastic™ Workbench with an unfinished project on it, he will magically complete it to 99% complete. A Sim at level 10 in the Science career can perform experiments on these gnomes. All Mysterious Mr. Gnomes sell for §1,000, kicking the gnome can sometimes result in losing §1, thus making him worth only §999. You can have more than one Mr. Gnome on the lot at one time. (There is a gnome in the Goth household).

Varieties

There are different methods for acquiring different varieties of Mysterious Mr. Gnome. Differing varieties also have thematic poses, such as Sultan Sam's egyptian walk

Mysterious Mr. Gnome[TS3]

Type Special
Size 1x1

The base game version of Mysterious Mr. Gnome looks just like a garden gnome, with an orange hat with a yellow star shaped flower on it with a brown center, a long gray beard, blue button down shirt and red pants and shoes of an odd brown-tan color. This unique garden gnome can be found when a Sim chooses to "Explore The Catacombs" at the graveyard, by activating the irreversible transfiguration on Carter's Display Case - XL Edition, as a random event while fishing, within ore or gems when they mail them to their respective refiners, or as an 'acquisition' from being promoted in the criminal career, or as a reward for a case in the Investigator Profession, or by fishing. It can also be found using the miner.

One way to get Mysterious Mr. Gnome is by using the "testingcheatsenabled true" cheat, then "buydebug". Go into buy mode and there should be a miscellaneous tab. Click it and scroll down. There should be one of every Mysterious Mr. Gnome, depending on what expansion packs you have. They cost $1000.

Game Late Night
Buyable No
Type Special
Size 1x1

A female Vampire gnome from The Sims 3: Late Night.[2] Randomly found on lots with multiple plasma fruit bushes growing, and rarely with just plasma fruits in the fridge. More bushes increase the chances of finding one. This gnome will give every non-vampire sim (other than sims with the brave trait) on the lot the 'Hunted' moodlet. This gnome can also transform a teddy bear into a Vampire gnome, when bitten by vampire toddlers. It has been reported that the vampire will either multiply or (with generations installed) have many identical other vampire gnomes

Gnome Family[TS3:G]

When old gnome dies, there will be special tombstone of it.

With The Sims 3: Generations, the Mysterious Mr. Gnome can "get married" and have gnome children (this only applies to Mr. Mysterious Gnome).[3] The children start as toddlers and will age to children, then rebellious looking teens, then adults (the normal look of the gnome) then elders, They WILL die after becoming elders. This causes a special tombstone for the gnome to appear. The tombstone can be bought through buydebug, too.

The five ages of gnomes in The Sims 3: Generations.

In The Sims 3 Generations, you can now have a gnome family! The Mysterious Mr. Gnome you know and love from base game will age through the life cycles just like the Sims. Leave two of these magical gnomes in your Sims’ homes or have them hang around a wedding and you just might see a new magical addition! Each of the different gnome age ranges has new poses and appearances, and they each prefer to appear near different objects that are suitable to them. Toddler Gnome – Gnomes are already small, but these magical toddlers are tiny! Child Gnome – These playful little gnomes are just a little bigger than toddlers. Teen Gnome – These teenaged gnomes have the look of youth and rebellious teen spirit! Elder Gnome – Gnomes past their primes, but still just as magical.
